Bengalis Were Wise to Punish Their Leader Mujeeb- Pakistanis Must Do The Same

In the history of Pakistan, heavy disasters were committed by almost all the governments, but no leader was really punished for his misdeeds.

Mujeeb Ur Rehman deceived the Begalis by showing them sky high hopes. When he took the reins of the country, the results were extremely disappointing. The Bengalis killed him without any hesitation.

The leaders like Imran Khan should learn lessons from Mujeeb and the people of Pakistan should learn lessons from their Bengali Brethren. Imran is showing hopes like Mujeeb and the people of Pakistan are believing him like the Bengalis.

The country was under a martial law government, so the responsibility lied on the shoulders of the top brass of the army. Mujeeb and Bhutto were also culprits. Mujeeb was punished by his people. Bhutto did both rights and wrongs. He was punished by the CIA through its Pakistani agents for the right things he was doing.

Mujeeb was also killed by ARMY not by bengali masses.

Same way bhutto was killed by ARMY.

Bhutto was warned in advance by Henry Kissinger for his nuclear program. He was building an Islamic bloc to uplift the global Muslim community. All the 9 parties of PNA alliance were paid approximately 5 billion dollars for the so called Islamization movement. However, Bhutto's negative policies towards nationalization and nepotism in bureaucracy heavily damaged the internal structure of the country.

Mujeeb caused heavy frustration to the Bengali people. The Bangladeshi army revolted as a result of anger not as a result of a conspiracy against his government.

The Begalis have divided opinions about their killed leader and the army dictator. That is why the daughter of the killed leader and the killer's wife are more or less equally popular. Gen. Zia Ur Rehman did not like to kill his own people like shameless Niazi, Tikka Khan and Yahaya Khan. He revolted against the Pakistani army for their massive killings of Bengalis. He later killed the leader as a gesture of anger. He realized that the leader had deceived the nation. Gen. Zia Ur Rehman was not a shameless general like Tikka, Yahaya and Niazi. He loved his nation.

You are wrong to say Mujeeb was traitor or responsible for breaking Pakistan; it was first Pak army and then Bhutto who wanted two prime Ministers in one country.

Can you answer why Awami League was deprived of forming Govt of united Pakistan?

  10. In a civilised society, Gen Tikka, Yahya and Niazi should have given death penaty for their terrible war crimes and atrocities against their own public. But unfortunately we are not a civilised society. Gen Yahya was given a full military funeral.

    Absolutely agreed

Same position is in pakistan. Pakistani masses are also in two groups . ONe pro-bhutto and one against bhutto. Thats why ppp never gained more than 40% votes. And agencies have cashed on this .i.e. whenever they want to keep ppp away , they unite anti-ppp vote like they did in 88 or 97.

    You are right!

Army generals are very skillful in their involvement in politics and enjoy full perks and largest share of annual national budget. I have closely witnessed their perks and luxurious lifestyle.

    Dear Sharif Aadmi & Sweettruth

Mujeeb was not a holy cow. He met the fate in accordance with his misdeeds. His political party was always an anti-Pakistani one. However, our corrupt generals like Yahaya, Tikka Khan and Niazi disturbed the situation so badly that he became a popular leader of the Bengalis. He was man of neither calibre nor character. Our shameless generals let him become a mountain out of a mole. When a nationalist Bengali general Zia Ur Rehman realized that Mujeeb had put the Bengalis into miseries, he killed him. The families of our dictators like Ayub, Zia and Musharaff are not popular in the politics, but Zia ur Rehman's family is as popular as that of Mujeeb.

There were three actors in the separation of East Pakistan. Mujeeb, Bhutto and Indira Gandhi. Without going into detail we see that all of them got an unnatural death. Indira Gandhi was assassinated, Bhutto hung, Mujeeb brutally killed.

  15. @zingaro

The biggest (dirty) actor of east Pak debacle was our own army which launched a brutal army action after awami league had clearly won an election.

What would you feel if your party is denied Govt after winning majority vote.

You did not mention Gen Yahya, Tikka and Niazi; they should have hung in public rather we (our army) buried Yahya with full military honour.

All the three main political culprits had unnatural deaths. The army culprits like Tikka, Yahaya and Niazi lived in indignity.

Burial with military honours do not change their status in the history. Mujeeb was not a heroic person, but the attitude of our army generals made him a hero in the eyes of the Bengali masses.

No one is a holy cow except our dirty army; they were holy cown then in 1971 and still today they are considered and honoured as holy cow.

Mujeeb and his party were denied an election victory by our own army which saw him as a future threat to their perks and authority. Even today in 2010, our army will get rid of any popular leader if he or she does not toe their line. From Mujeeb to ZAB to NS to Benazir; all examples are in front of us. Army DID NOT allow neither of these leaders to emerge as strong leader.

  19. @Hussain Farooqui

Yes it does if you bury such dirty generals with full military honours. Army sends a clear message to our public and even to the entire world. And the message is: no matter how bad our General was, we will still honour him after his death.

Blaming Mujeeb is an injustice in the sorry saga of our history.

My dear if Army was wrong there then who has ever praised army for such action in east pakistan? HF is right that burial with military honor does not the status in history. We should be fair in our views. But at the same time I must say that the level of stories of army operation was exaggerated to the highest level possible. Last year a Bangladeshi writer faced too much problem when she raised the question about stories of Pak Army actions against Bengalis.

Mujeeb was a leader like Altaf Hussain. Ayub Khan and Yahaya Khan produced Mujeeb as a result of their poor governance and Zia produced Altaf Hussain against the selfish political parties like JI and PPP. Political misdeeds committed by our top brass are undeniable.

The stories of excesses by our army are true but naturally very exaggerated by our enemies.

You guys are trying to exonerate our bahadur army for what they did during their operation from 09th march 1971 to 15th Dec 1971. What would you feel if you vote a party and if they win and denied to form govt. On top of that if you protest, you are welcome by army tanks.

Would you like to see army tanks on the streets of Lahore crushing protesters if PML-N s denied to form Govt?

Tiger Niazi wrote in Betrayal of East Pakistan that Yahya and Bhutto had already decided on the future of East Pakistan in Larkana.

Yahya Khan in a secret affidavit put the onus on Bhutto NOT Mujeeb. http://www.probenewsmagazine.com/index.php?index=2&contentId=5049

"In a 2004 poll conducted on the worldwide listeners of BBC's Bengali radio service, Mujib was voted the "Greatest Bengali of All Time" beating out Rabindranath Tagore and others." [wikipedia].

I met a large group of senior behari Pakistans who had made it to Pakistan after all. For 45 days on Hajj I had to listen their stories during war. Mind that they supported Pakistani army but the summary of their narrative is it was Indian army that rescued them from Mukti and camped them in Calcutta, provided them with monthly ration for entire families, brought them to city on army convoy for buying other necessary items and the American Red Cross facilitated schools, books and canned food. They had lot of respect the way Indian army treated them.

  25. Title of this thread is WRONG!

Mujeeb was brutally murdered by some over-zealous low ranked army officers (in collusion with senior army officers) NOT by bengali public. Over 90% bengali public loved him and still he is respected very high.

    Dear Sweettruth

We are not exonerating our very bahadur colonial mindset generals. Our army top brass is no doubt acting as a kala angraz. We are trying to disclose the fact that Mujeeb was not a man of calibre to be the leader of masses. It was the attitude of our colonial mindset generals who prepared grounds for the growth of leaders like Mujeeb. We don't deny the excesses committed over our Bengali brethren, but still believe that the figures presented by anti Pakistani lobbies in India and Bangladesh are widely exaggerated.

  27. Correct title of this thread should be:

We (public of Pakistan) should DO THE SAME to our army general(s) WHAT BENGALI ARMY OFFICERS DID WITH MUJEEB.

Who becomes leader in a democracy?

Of course the one with majority vote.

Either you do not believe in democracy or tyring to undervalue a very popular leader like Mujeeb. Mujeeb's Left views/high popularity were a thorn in the eyes of army and army top brass did not want someone like him to dictate them. Crimes list of our army is perhaps longer than Hitler.

The wrongdoings of the top brass are there, but the top brass is not blameworthy for everything. In the last of Ramdan when the city of Karachi came into a tight grip of the criminals pampered by PPP, ANP and MQM, then the businessmen of Karachi communicated with Kiyani and asked him to choose any one of the two options of either letting them shifting their businesses abroad or controlling the situation by bypassing the political parties. Kiyani decided to take the situation in his own hands and thus took rangers under the direct control of the army. Was not Kiyani's choice better?
