  2. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    The question I want to raise is, what is Pakistan as well as the rest of the 55+ Muslim nation states doing in this regard ?

    Is anyone in Pakistan or in the rest of the 55+ Muslim nation states thinking about, getting knowledge of, working on, investing in, monitoring what is going on in the world in regard to;

    (1) Nano technology
    (2) Quantum Sciences
    (3) etc etc

    ?

  3. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    They are growing closer to understanding as well as controlling elements of life i.e., air, water, wind, fire, dirt/land, etc etc.

    Do people inside Pakistan as well as the rest of the Muslim nation states understand the possible risks envolved, be it in the present or in the future ?

    While we are busy in petty bickering, our competitors, those who are our enemies also, are doing much more than what we are, at this time. They'v had over a century of peace, peace of mind, justice, easy access to fast justice, tranquility, freedom to get education, gain knowledge, freedom to build new products, technologies, understanding, to learn, to improve their lives.

    In contrast what have Muslims done ? Are we going to do something to be able to compete with the world in the future ?

    As I see people conducting themselves inside Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim nations states, I project, I visualize the future as us/Muslims being very very weak as well as vulnerable in-front of our enemies. ..and why ?

    Are we going to allow our competitors to gain more power in the future than they already have today ?

    Are we going to continue to destroy our people's lives with the decisions we make, the actions we take ?

    or

    Are we going to allow our people to;

    (1) re-build our/their lives in peace
    (2) be honest
    (3) have justice
    (4) have quality education

    (4a) easy access to quality education
    (4b) cheap access to quality education

    (5) bravery

    (5a) bravery to be honest
    (5b) bravery to accept our mistakes, our crimes, our wrong-doings, and to get away from committing those mistakes, crimes in the future
    (5c) bravery to cut on our frivolous expenditures
    (5d) bravery to live within our means
    (5e) bravery to struggle for betterment

    (6) become self reliant
    (7) etc etc

    ?

    HK, Walaikum Salaam,

    Why are you baffled by such discoveries and inventions?

    Let the yahudis and banyas excel in that. We don't need nano technology. The madrasa graduates in Afghanistan are giving humiliating lessons to Berkeley graduates. All the technologies of the world are proving to be worthless. Let all Muslim states gain real freedom first and nano-technology will automatically be learned and developed. We can't have cart before the horse.

    Remember Musa AS 'technology' was better than the technology of the Pharoah's magicians. Technology without the name of God is useless and can easily be overcome by Believers.

    Nicely described..

    We lag far behind in education, science, research and technology and this is the biggest problem of Muslim world. Without education we will continue to get flogged in the years to come. Small states like Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel, Iceland, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia and many others have made impressive progress in science and technology and their education systems are one of the best in the world producing top scientists and researchers.

    @Abdul Rahman
    Why don't you go yourself or send your kids to Afghan madarsa system to get a degree? People like you are taking Muslim world and Pakistan towards destruction and Stone Age. I want to send my kids to Harvard and MIT.

    Progress is not just about building sky scrapers and cell phones etc. Progress is also the mindset, which in our case is stuck in the 100th century. Science and tech is all about rationality, which doesn't exist. It is about collaborating with other people, you cannot progress without collaborating with people you don't like. The ultimate goal to produce new tech is to help humanity.

    Shock, What is 100th century? we are still far away from that. You meant 10th century? We have to integrate science and religion as it was the catalyst that led to greatness of Islamic civilization not vice versa. West progressed but with a cost or moral decadence due to their turning back on religion. They relegated religion to Sunday worship. We can't do that.

    OK. Let's assume 10th century. We were the ones who propelled mankind towards progress and harmonios existence during that era. Please read this from HP ex CEO-Carly Fiorina whose excerpt hit the media after 9/11.

    There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world. It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climates to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins. One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world, the bridge between the peoples of a hundred lands. Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities. Its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known. The reach of this civilization's commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between.

    This civilization was driven, more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration. Its writers created thousands of stories - stories of courage, romance and magic. Its poets wrote of love, when others before them were too steeped in fear to think of such things.

    When other nations were afraid of ideas, this civilization thrived on them and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive and passed it on to others. While modern Western civilization shares many of these traits, the civilization I'm talking about was the Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent.

    Although we are often unaware of our indebtedness to this other civilization, its gifts are very much a part of our heritage. The technology industry would not exist without the contributions of Muslim mathematicians. Leaders like Suleiman contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership. And perhaps we can learn a lesson from his example: It Was leadership based on meritocracy, not inheritance. It was leadership that harnessed the full capabilities of a very diverse population that included Christianity, Islamic and Jewish traditions.

    This kind of enlightened leadership - leadership that Nurtured culture, sustainability, diversity and courage - led to 800 years of invention and prosperity. In dark and serious times like this, we must affirm our Commitment to building societies and institutions that aspire to this kind of greatness.

    what are the key ingredients that we are missing. I'll propose that when wrong religion or wrong interpretation of the religion has significant power in societies, people quality of life suffer and those societies loose power.

    Case in point. During the dark ages in Europe, christianity (a religion that has lost favor from Allah (SWT) and was not on the right path) had power. When Europe got rid of christianity having supreme power they started improving life of their people.

    I think today Muslim world suffer with wrong interpretation of the TRUE religion and that wrong interpretation has significant influence in people day to day life and hence muslim societies are loosing to other societies. Because wrong religion and wrong interpretation of the true religion is worse than rationality. Where as correct interpretation of the true religion is better than rationality.

    So for Muslim societies to prosper, we either have to discover our true religion or give religoin secondary place and focus on rationality.

  10. There is nothing wrong in being religious or having a profound knowledge of islam and being expert nd advance in science and technology....infact Islam also lays emphasis on exploring this kind of knowledge...why do some of us want to corner muslims just to limited thinking and tasks...i agree with member hariskhan that we muslims should also ponder over seriously on future planning and projects in terms of new scientific inventions and discoveries....we were once the inventors/discoverers so why cant now?
