(18 posts)

  1. $20 Million to be spent on local version Sesame Street to -- and I am not kidding -- "help reverse Pakistan's descent into religious conservatism, violent extremism and economic stagnation"

I see "victory" just around the corner... :-P

  2. Wonder what role @shirazi would apply for? Count Chocula? Bart?... :)

    I know, I know...Oscar: The Grouch! :)

Interestingly, if someone would say "Sesame Street is West's conspiracy...", I am sure our friends would label that "a conspiracy theory"! :D

  3. Wasn't seaseme street already in Pakistan under the banner of khul ja simsim?

    I personally don't mind it!!

Kids should have more variety of choices, Sangeen Khan, Raymond Davis, Rehman Malik, Maulana Diesel, Zardari, Count Chacula, Oscar the Grouch!! LOL

So many role models to choose from!!

  5. Love this...$20 Million bet on:
"Because truly, how can al-Qaeda prevail when kids are staring at the adorable face of Elmo on television?"

    Truly, indeed!

(Did they consider that 90% of their target audience doesn't have TVs? And the reaming 10% might not be able to watch it due to load-shedding? At least the Pirzadas are going to be making a killing (and using that as a pun, I think it is going to put a BIG dent in Peeru's business...;-))

  6. These idiots are encouraging the ever increasing gap between rich and poor (have and have nots) of Pakistan!!

Who is going to watch this show? Bilwal Zardaris and Zohair Torus of Pakistan and the real target audience would still have the same old choice of *&*) Sandwich or *(^* burger!!

Peerzaada brothers get a lot of gov funds for their yearly RP festival in Lahore. Few years back Madiha Gauhar was miffed with them for their poor management and shoddy facilities she had alleged misappropriation of funds. So you never know this $20 million might get 'harampoonched':)

    CFR: U.S.-Pakistan Partnership in Peril

And last but certainly NOT the least is this wonderful response from our Foreign Office:
FO: Shove it in me, BABY! I wanna feel it in my throat...

Pakistan on Thursday said it would continue its ‘multi-track engagement’ with the US law enforcement agencies in its counter-terrorism efforts despite recent hiccups in ties between the two countries....
