  1. Thanks, shimatoree. Our privilege to be able to participate in the threads you initiate.

    gv - yes, that would be another way of going about things. Instead of preaching revolution, for instance, or anything else, we preach "empowerment" (what a fancy word!. But, gv, judging from the results in US alone, democracy appears more a dream than a reality. And Europe is no better off. Seems to me a sort of democracy-fatigue has set upon us. What do you say?

    @mg

    dont actually recall using the word 'empowerment' in my post..

    we don't have a viable (fair) alternative to a democratic set up - as has been pretty clear throughout this thread

  3. "we don't have a viable (fair) alternative to a democratic set up"

    That statement is based on the false premise that "democracy is viable (fair)". Humbug!

  4. gv, I didn't say you used the e word. I used it, although I do not like it one little bit. The aside was for myself alone, let's say.

    And you're right that the thread was lively, but inconclusive. If it has to be democracy, so be it. Though I still don't see how we're going to make it work. Time will tell. And, I have this nagging feeling, the way events develop in Afghanistan.
