Corruption in Pakistani cricket!

For the first time in the last 3 years, Zardari isn't the most hated person in Pakistan. The role (though briefly) has been taken over by Kamran Akmal. Yes we all hate him. Not only because of his incompetency, but also for his unacceptable attitude and his highly doubtful commitment to the team.

We lost a great talent like Aamer due to corruption. Whether it was his fault or Salman Butt is to blame will remain a debate. But one this is for sure that we lost a great bowler right before the worldcup and now we are dependant on a bowling lineup that depends on Afridi's shoulders. If we exclude Afridi's 15 wickets from the last 4 games Pakistan has played, our bowling has 'sucked' to say the least.

Corruption is still there in Pakistani cricket and it is more than obvious. I suspected Kamran to be involved in match fixing even before the WC began. I even posted it on this forum. Whether Kamran is a sellout or he is just the worst keeper of all time is something we can spend hours arguing over. But the fact is, he has NO place in the team yet just yesterday PCB gave a 6 month extension on his contract that too under Category A!

I am sick and tired of PCB's corrupt practices and lack of any compliance measures whatsoever. This has to stop. Cricket is the ONLY subject that unites Pakistanis and it should be FREE of corruption. Enough said!

Why you are focusing only on Akmal.
It started much before with the crime of ball tempering.
If some one knew about tour of India in captaincy of Asif .
The fowls started there for getting power in their hand.
Than remember move against captain ship of Javed Miandad.
Than it turned into game of corruption and money making.
Remember abducting of father of Wasim Akram.
Remember match of a world cup against Bangladesh.
    Long story.

well... in one of the test matches in Engalnd, 11 players on the field were Punjabis. I am not against Punjabis. But to me, that is corruption... atleast somewhat.

but its ok, im willing to let it go.

Yes, your eyes are trained to look for "Mohajir" everywhere and only when you find "Mohajir" presence then your heart feels peace, so sad to see that muslims have fallen to the lowest level of ethnicity worshipping-

QKM, please stop this punjabi muhajir debate.. its childish..Afridi is the captain and he isnt punjabi or muhajir. We just need to get rid of the corruption in the team..Umar is a great talent, but he needs to go because he is corrupt. His finger-breaking incident is FAKE and this act was to only bring back Kamran to the team

The reason why Pakistani cricket is floating in pool of poo, is quite simply "collusion".

Once you have collusion from the very top; what is there to worry about? Don't get me started on Ijaz Butt....I will probably blow a vein in my head.

Do you think cricket should be an island of honesty and integrity in the ocean of corruption and 'loot khasoot' that is Pakistan? Sorry folks, I will wait till I see elephants fly.

    Dusky,

I will spit on a cricket ball if that happens!

Amir is the only one who deserves leniency.

    Stingingnettle,

From situation seems like Asif will walk free. They got nothing on him.

Amir already plead guilty. Salman is not coming so clean though.

And yes, I agree with your gesture.

    Dusky;

I see what you mean but then there is no way to explain the exact no ball. I think it is a case of Asif being more experienced and clever and hence not leaving a trail of evidence behind him. I seem to recall an interview by his ex-girlfriend whose name I just can't think at the moment, who said that Asif was definitely crooked. She mentions mysterious phone calls etc and the fact that he had admitted to match fixing to her but had promised to give it all up. I think Salman in swimming in the smelly stuff and so is Aamir. I just hope Aamir gets a telling off for being a stupid teenager which he was at the time and no more. There is no shortage of stupid teenagers these days. I would be pleased never to see Asif and Salman play for Pakistan ever again. So lets see what the jury comes up with.

Yes, I guess we have got to start somewhere.

I am a huge fan of cricket but I have refused to watch any Pakistani cricket since the scandal. Until justice is done, I shall be registering my protest by refusing to watch any news about Pakistan cricket. So hopefully the English justice system will do me a favour and push Salman and Asif properly and then I can watch Pakistani cricket again.

  19. Like our society corruption is also part and parcel of our cricket. However, in my view, no one deserves leniency; corrupt players should face life ban/heavy fines to deter future incidents and save Pakistan from further international humiliation. Our national pyche is wrong; we let culprits walk free like they have done nothing wrong.

I have stopped watching cricket and lost faith in my team. Sending a strong message of life ban and heavy fines is the only solution if we have to save our future cricket.
