DawnNews starts Urdu transmission today: A good news indeed !

    KARACHI: Pakistan’s premier English news channel, DawnNews TV, has announced the launch of a three-hour daily Urdu transmission from Monday.

    The prime time transmission (8pm to 11pm) will comprise two interactive current affairs programmes and a news bulletin at 9pm, according to a press release.

    The decision followed viewer feedback and market research that indicated though multichannel, the market still felt the need for an accurate, balanced, objective and unbiased Urdu news and current affairs channel.

    DawnNews said that there were plans to upgrade the three-hour Urdu programming into a 24x7 channel while separating it from the English channel.

    As per the viewer feedback, the Urdu programming will adhere to the same set of ethical and professional standards that have come to mark the English output on DawnNews

    Yes, you are right their veiwer-ship was limited !
    I think their decision is quite right as majority of Pakistanis will now be able to veiw and understand their programmes !

    Dawn is the channel for elite class .
    now majority of elite class is also consist of ppl who dont know how to understand English news and views(like Zardari and his freind Seths :):):)...)
    so they have to go for an Urdu Channel ...
    ab tak bechary decent bannnay ki koshish kar rahay thay .
    magar iss mulk mein decent mara jata hay .
    shukha ,bharakta ,cheekhta chillatta channel chalta hay ,note kamata hay .
