Not surprising, soon we will also hear about extension of Gen Kayani, of course he deserves a little reward on 'excellent' service!

Three people run army affairs single handedly:

    General Tariq Majid
    General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani
    General Shuja Pasha

All three have a very dark background in partnership with Mushy on crimes against peoples of Pakistan.

All these individuals are terrorists and supporters of taliban and haqqani mafia specially. Pukhtuns will not spare them.

You are making a statement that Indians make on Pak Army not Pukhtuns.

You obviously have never met a real Pukthun in your entire life. That is for your own good, that you keep believing that everything is Indian, just like you did in 1971.

You mean I have to find a real indian and hear his stance on Pak Army's relationship with Talibans?

I want you to keep believing that Pukhtuns are too stupid to know the truth because when the time comes you will be caught by surprise.

Are you referring to your Cold Start Doctrine?

  11. A very large proportion of Pakistan army consists of Pukhtuns is also a fact however an extension for Shuja Pasha points to something else!
    Kindly stay on topic.

Its the failure of the so called democrats again that we are in this predicament, when PPP came in power it should have set up a committee which oversees who are the best candidates to replace the current ISI chief, COAS and CJCSC and other heads of the Military.

No Military Officer should be given an extension.

Bad news indeed, they should be sent home as soon as possible. They were partners in crime with Musharraf and deserve no extension.

  14. The problem is if you don't extend the current guys who the govt., US and everybody else knows, you risk bringing new green blood who could change the equation drastically. It is probably in our own interests to keep the current guys until we begin to converge to a meaningful end. The whole thing could become too complicated if the new man is rather different, he could also pack the govt. out of office.

  15. There are almost 9 to 10 Generals who will retire between Feb to Nov 2010 and only 1 is getting extension... says a lot about that one person. Bravo Kiyani!

  17. You will see most of them will retire and the current ones (loyal, having more insight to the situation present) would be extended. This is how army works. US, Zardari and Gilani would keep Kiyani and Kiyani would recommend to extend his key team. Others start taking retirement benefits, become talk show hosts, run security companies, military univs. etc. There is plenty to go around in the country for an army officer after retirement.

Actually we are in habit of criticizing every thing. Gen Pasha is a very professional and intelligent man and his credibility is beyond any doubt. He has no link with Mush and he served the country very well.

  19. These high rank military afficials were involved in many political activities during Mushraf rule and even after that, it will be suicide attempt for civil government to give them any extension, However Ansar abaasi is biggest supporter of these extensions, perhaps it is going to help to fulfill his desires against civil government, what a shameful journalism going on in pakistan.
    God bless pakistan

Why is General Kiyani retaining his loyal team members by giving one year extension while he himself is set to retire this year? it seems that he has assurance to get extension for himself?

well, this sure does create negative energy in the rank & file of military organization...

Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has given one-year extension to yet another Lieutenant General, Tanvir Tahir, the third beneficiary after Lt Gen Masood Alam and Lt Gen Sikandar Afzal, in six months.

Lt Gen Tanvir Tahir, Inspector General Communications and Technology, was about to retire this month together with Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha, Lt Gen Mohammad Ashraf Saleem, Commander of the Air Defence, and Lt Gen Ahsan Azhar Hayat, Inspector General of the Training and Evaluation at the GHQ.

Lt Gen Sikandar Afzal, who was to retire on March 1, has already been put on a year-long extension. With Tanvir emerging as the latest beneficiary, the future of his other colleagues will be decided in a week or so.

Army Chief is the actual ruler in Pakistani reality.
