All Abrahimic religions believe in subjugation of women.Islam is much better in this regard as compared to Christianity and Judaism but present day Mulla wants to deny women their rights.

Well as far as i'm concerned Islam is foremost in women's rights
It's just too bad that most muslims don't seem to know or accept that.

Muslimah,
I believe in total equality of all humans irrespective of gender, race or creed.
Veil or not to veil should be a personal decision of women.Nobody should force it on them or try to punish them for not using the hijab.I wonder why there is no punishment for men who fail to lower their gaze in front of women.Justice should apply equally to both genders.Inheritance laws are also unjust towards women. We live in a society that needs full participation of women, it is unfair to deny women equal rights.
Religions ask women to be obedient to their husbands just because the religions were revealed to men.
Then there are the Taliban and Saudis who want to treat women as their property. On the issue of polygamy and misogny, i strongly disagree with religions that tolerate it.I consider them abomination of humanity.

Its the total equality in all matters which is the source of problem for the women in the west. Islam presents the most balanced set of rights and responsibilities for women. I am living in west and i daily see lot of women suffering from the life style west is forcing them to live.

I'm not advocating Western culture or their values.Societies have their own culture Japanese,Chinese or people of Indian sub continent they all have a certain value system.Asian culture is very different than Europeans.
Women in the West are still fighting for their right for equal pay.Women in the West maybe unhappy with their lifestyle, but i don't see them lining up to get into Saudi Arabia. On the other hand Muslims all over the world like to move to West.
The capitalists also tell the labour unions the same thing, they know what is best for them, they don't need to fight for their rights.
The slave owners in southeren US also used the same excuse, if they freed the slaves it will upset the balance, they won't know how to live their lives in the society. We have a male dominant society, but things are changing.Women will eventually get their rights.

@ Letsdoit
No doubt there are some aspects of western culture that make life difficult for women, but i can assure you that the level of exploitation, helplessness, insecurity and overall suppression that women experience in countries like pakistan is horrendous.
I live in Pakistan, and i have lived abroad, and overall women in the west (including muslim women) have a much greater level of freedom and equality. They are not only allowed to play a constructive role in society, but are in fact expected to do so. The expectations ensure that a woman in the west is more aware, more proactive, more independent and more capable of leadership than women in pakistan.
While i am sure you see the difficulties faced by women in the west, in comparison to what women in Pakistan face, these women have it super easy.

dear brother hkbajwa
The aspects you mentioned are mostly highlighting the implementation part of the Law and in my opinion we were discussing the law it self.
Every law ensures that women should be safe while walking alone on the road even in night but if she is not safe then its a problem of the implementation of that law which should be forced and the aspects you mentioned are also same for men.
Even if you are a man you are not able to walk late in night even in your own society (true for most parts of pakistan). The friends living in Karachi will verify because almost every single one would have given his mobile and money at least once on a gun point.
