    Do’s in Ramadan

Ramadan multiplies our deeds by 70. So we should do as many deeds as possible and try not waste a single minute this month (amin).

Use this time to reflect, and find out faults and strengths in our self regarding Islam.

Following most of them do not only in Ramadan but also need to do all time.

Salat (Prayer) : Pray 5 times a day understanding its importance.

Eye Side : A Muslim should lower his/her gaze at all times.

Listen : Listen recitation of Quran, Khutba (Islamic lecture)

Tell : Increase the recitation of the Glorious Qur'an. Tell people about Islam.

Astaghfar (Seeking Forgiveness): Repent for all sins and be constant in seeking Allah's forgiveness (pardon). This is the time to firstly realize our sins and cry for forgiveness. Allah becomes extra forgiving this month.

Dhikr : Increase Dhikr. Whenever you are not talking do Dhikr.

Sadaqah Fitr & Zakat (Charity): increase acts of charity and discharge sadaqatul fitr and zakat. Remember in Ramadan that gets further multiplied by 70.

Dissolve Grudges: If your holding a grudge against anyone this is the best time to patch things up or at least try (it doesn't matter if it’s not your fault).

Iftar: Distribute iftari to others. So give whatever you can even if it is just a date.

When we know our deeds are being multiplied by 70 try doing as many as can:

-Increase nafil ibaadah, especially in the last ten nights.

    -Follow sunnah

-Go to the poor and talk to them, ask their problems and help them out in any way that can.

    Don’ts in Ramadan

Following most of them don’t avoid only in Ramada but also rest of the time.

Missing Prayers: Salah (prayers) are the second pillar of Islam. It comes before Saum (fasting).

Eye Side : Looking/oogling at a women is not best be avoided.

Listen: Don’t listen those things which are haram (prohibited) such as gheeba, gossip and music.

Tell: Don't speak without purpose. Back biting is considered more sinful. Avoid telling lies or gossiping. Don't argue.

So if you think that talking on the phone or meeting friends might result in back biting then avoid it.

Abusive language : When you abuse someone it doesn't harm him, it just adds to your sins.

The Hand : Don't get into fights, stay away and if you get into one and loose your temper, practice patience (sabr) and walk away.

Don't Waste Time : Try and cash every moment by doing Dhikr.

Attitude: Don't be vulgar, rude or swear. Don't be irritable. Don't be boastful or arrogant.

    Avoid:
    Fried and fatty foods.
    Foods containing too much sugar.
    Over-eating especially at sehri.
Taking too much tea, coffee, soft drink, especially at sehri.

And Most Important Remember me in your Prayers!..

Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani (a chief of the court in Egypt) used to wear very nice clothes. Once he met a Jew wearing old /torn clothes.

The Jew stopped Al Asqalani and asked him: “Don’t you see the situation I am in and compare it with the bounty you enjoy, although I am unbeliever and you are believer?

How can you explain your Prophet’s saying: ‘Life on this earth is like a prison for the believers and a garden for unbelievers?’”

Ibn Hajar answered him: “Although you have a miserable life on earth, you will consider yourself in paradise compare to what you will suffer in the hereafter if you die as an unbeliever. For me with all this bounty I have, if Allah Subhanahu wata’ala will reward me with Paradise, then this life will be like a prison to me compared to life in Paradise.” The Jew said, “If it is so, then I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet.”

al-Hasan said: “A maiden of Paradise will speak to the slave of Allah while he is laying with her on the shore of a river of honey in Paradise while she hands him a glass of the sweetest drink, and she will ask him: “Do you know what day Allah married me to you? He Saw you on a long summer day while you were thirsty in the mid-day heat, and He called the Angels and Said: “Look at My slave. He has left his wife and pleasure and food and drink for Me out of his desire for what I have for him. Bear witness that I have Forgiven him,” and He Forgave you on that day and married you to me.”"

    Al-Dhahabi (ra) in al-Kabaa’ir said:
    Quote:

“The believers are unanimously agreed that whoever forsakes the Ramadaan fast when he is not sick and has no other excuse for that is worse than an adulterer or one who is addicted to alcohol. They doubt whether he is a Muslim and they think of him as a heretic and deviant."

The Prophet (SAW) was the first to make this prayer in congregation in the masjid, then he left it for fear of people thinking it was a fardh. As is stated in the Saheehayn, on ‘Aisha (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) prayed in the masjid one night with some people, then more people came, then on the third or fourth night even more people came, so he didn’t come out to them. Then he later said, “I saw what you were doing, and nothing stopped me from coming to you except the fear of this becoming an obligation on you.” This was during Ramadhan. Abu Dhar (RA) said, “We fasted with the Prophet (SAW) and he didn’t lead us in prayer until there were just seven days left in the month, so he lead us in prayer until the last third of the night, then he didn’t lead us the following day, then he lead us up until just until half of the night. So we said, “O messenger of Allah, why didn’t you pray the entire night?” He said, “Whoever prays with the Imam until the Imam is finished, then they get rewarded for praying the whole night.” (Narrated with a Saheeh chain)

Praying during the night in Ramadhan has special benefits. The Prophet (SAW) said, “Whoever stands for prayer at night, with faith and anticipation of reward, he is forgiven for his past sins.” (Agreed upon) With faith means faith in Allah, and belief in being rewarded for his act. Anticipation means that they don’t do the act out of showing off, or out of expecting to get money. Taraweeh is the praying at night during Ramadhan with belief that you will be rewarded for the action. It is called taraweeh because the people used to make it long, and whenever they would reach four rak’ahs, then they would rest for a little.

It is not fitting for men to leave this prayer and miss out on all of the rewards, and they should not leave until the imam finishes the prayer and the witr so that they may receive the reward of praying the entire night.

Al-Bukhaari (520) narrated that Buraydah said:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does not pray ‘Asr, his good deeds will be annulled"

Quran states special significance to the Asr Salaah as in Surah Baqarrah:238 it has been described as the best prayer

    حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ ﴿٢٣٨﴾

In Saheeh Muslim on the authority of Amama (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Recite the Qur’an for it will come n the Day of Judgment as an intercession for it’s companion.” Also in Saheeh Muslim on the authority of Aqbah bin ‘Amir (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Would one of you not go to the Masjid and learn or recite two verses from the Book of Allah, the Mighty and the Majestic. That would be better for him than two she-camels. And three verses would be better for him than three she-camels. And four verses would be better than four she-camels, and whatever their number may be of camels.”
