You only have to look at the state of some of the schools to understand how we squandering the most valuable asset of Pakistan; its children. The sheer callous neglect our education suffers from is, in itself, a huge national tragedy. A slow and devastating tsunami of illiteracy, joblessness and ignorance is upon us while we are too busy talking about 17th to the 31st amendments, who is a corrupt or not, who said what and when, and how best to mark the death of Nusrat Bhutto. I think I am going mad.
The lack of posts on this thread is a symptom of the desensitisation we suffer from. The fact is that no Government in my life has given a flying f---k about education. People think it fated that little children of poor families work in dangerous workshops and in the houses of the rich and infamous whilst their own children attend school.
I wonder if the children of Pakistan are just accidents? Unwanted, uncared for and mostly slave labour for those who are too lazy to work themselves?
I wonder, should I be proud to be a Pakistani when I look at the total lack educational opportunities for the children of my country? Should you be proud to call yourself a Pakistani?
