Hamza’s new wife is from PML-Q, a rival party of PML-N of whom he is president of Punjab province. However, the twice divorced young Sharif has refused to own his ‘new marriage’ in public. But his one-and-a-half-year-old marriage turned out to be a sordid affair when one time divorcee Aysha Malik dared to send a message to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Hamza’s uncle, to accept her in his family.
However the Sharifs have other remedy in store for her. Ms. Malik was arrested last week following a complaint registered with police that she had kidnapped a son of her Filipino maid. Police booked her under anti-terror charges and subsequently she was remanded for 10 days in police custody by the judge of an anti-terrorism court. Later, the Lahore High Court chief justice on the application of Ayesha’s mother suspended the remand and ordered departmental action against the judge for favoring the complainant.
Ms. Ayesha says her family is receiving threats from Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for not withdrawing ‘the fact’ that she has a "matrimonial relation" with Hamza.
