Here we go NS wants ARMY Courts
seriuos consequences of Nawaz mindset
1) internationaly we will be consider failed undemocratic authoritarian state without basic human right where political leaders are incompetent,
2) Army right from foot soldier to generals will think they are indispensable and have every right to rule Pakistan becoz political leadership is incompetent & corrupt
the most dangerous is
3) People will think and believe the same and will distribute sweets whenever Army take the power by
" coups d'état"I think Nawaz is the most dumbest, incompetent, incapable and visionless leader ever walked on the soil of Pakistan if not on this earth!

I thought he learned his lesson and now believe in democracy. But this statement make me cretin that he thinks he can not succeed in a civilian rule of law environment.
Posted 4 months ago on 03 Jan 2012 18:04 # -
6 judges excused themselves while hearing Afaq Ahmed's case,one of them resigned,3 of his lawyers & companions were gunned down during his 7 year incarceration,he appealed and requested that he does not want anymore of his lawyers to be brutally gunned down so he should be allowed to pursue his own case, finally court allowed him to fight his own cases.
When bus full of policemen is attacked by armed political gangs and criminals are roaming scot free and operating fearlessly with complete impunity and those who are meant to provide justice and punish these heinous criminals are themselves feeling insecure & vulnerable then military courts are only solution. Criminals and their sympathizers will naturally make hue and cry and will feel the heat..

The only people who are so fond of 1992 operation have not lived in Karachi.
No Karachite supported the 1992 operation.
Nawaz Sharif wants to bring back 1992. He can forget about even getting one PML-N MPA from urban sindh
Posted 4 months ago on 03 Jan 2012 18:36 # -
For MQM this will be a blessing in disguise. 1992 operation give them a life and this will do the same.
NS will never learn from his mistakes. He should evaluate why he have less support then any tanga party in urban Sindh.Posted 4 months ago on 03 Jan 2012 18:45 # -

@expakistani Your statement well reflected your democratic approach towards handling of an elected governament and why not your approach is backed by Q-League and custodians of Musharaf .. No surprise from your statement as PTI supporter.
Most PTI supporters were with Musharaf before establishment fooled them around Imran Khan.. ..

NS has again proved that he has no respect for law and constituion.
I wonder how come he opposed Mush action of Oct 12, 1999. IF BAHDUR FAUJ is the recipe to fix the tihngs, they fixed it on Oct 12 as well. Why to oppose that ?
Posted 4 months ago on 04 Jan 2012 0:37 # -
@Sharif Aadmi
For your information Army is under PM , PM is not under Army. PM has to decide where he want to deploy its army as necessary, not Army has to decide where they want to keep PM.
BTW Thanks for introducing yourself as supporter of Dictatorship.

For your kind information , the constitution of ARMY courts was held ultra vires by the supreme court of pakistan in the landmark judgement of Mehram Ali VS Federation of Pakistan case.
If NS doesn't rememember that or u don't know about that , it doesn't mean that i m a supporter of BAHDUR FAUJ.
Here honourable members know of my stance .

@Sharif Aadmi
Actually most of us missing the point that Nawaz Sharif said ofmilitary courts as Last-resort not the first option. In wasim badami program Ahsan Iqbal elaborated the point that this can also be done through new law endorsed by parliament.So don't worry nothing will be unconstitutional or illegal.
Besides media and judiciary is no more hostile and especially Judiciary has repeated its stance many times that no compromise.
Media is just making fuss for viewer-ship.
So keep calm and carry on.

pakstar,
For your kind memory , i can repeat NS history.
a) In his first tenure , he introduced special speedy courts using 12th amendment to the constituion.
b) In 1997 , first he enacted special courts under ATC and wanted these courts out of boundary of high court & supreme court. This black law was enacted on the eve of golden juliee of pakistan and was later quashed in the court of law. Court held certian provisions of this law ultra vire .
For your kind memory , this is the same law under which NS was tried and convicted in hi-jacking case. Hadn't SC rectified the law , he might have met his fate.
c) In 1998, after suspending sindh assembly , he formed ARMY COURTS in sindh . These courts were again held ultra wire by the honourable supreme court of pakistan. If u read then CJ , Justice Ajmal Mian's biography , mian sb wanted to visit him to stop this landmark judgement of mehram ali case but Justice Ajmal Mian refused to welcome him at his residence.
So , when a man with such a black past again speaks of repeating the same illegal actions , what would u call that ?
Posted 4 months ago on 04 Jan 2012 3:34 # -
Btw, the tussle between CJ Sajjad Ali Shah and NS government also started from NS's insistence on enacting special ATC's and which ended in the SC invasion saga in Nov 97.
And let me tell u that in those jawani kaay aayam , i opposed NS on ATC's but supported him after CJ Sajjad Ali Shah started suspending constitutioanl amendments (He suspended 13th and 14th amendment).

NS is no naive, he knew what he was talking about, he knows that from Khi, Hyderabad the best he can do is win one Sindh assembly seat (PS-114), and by exploiting the sindhi/urdu speaking divide in Sindh, he is trying to get sympathies from rest of the sindh, he knows that in the next election PPP wont be that strong and if he is able to get Anti-PPP "Sindhi" elemnt united, he may win some seats..
Posted 4 months ago on 04 Jan 2012 15:29 # -
I think NS just made another stupid statement. PMLN guys were having a hard time defending it on talk shows yesterday. It would have been better if they just said NS spoke wrongly and moved on.
Whats more interesting is that NS stopped his fans shouting "Go Zardari Go". That is confusing....PMLN just had a "Go Zardari Go" rally on 31st Dec and 3 days later they dont want people to say "Go Zardari Go" ??

Like I said, it would have been better if PMLN apologized for the blunder of a statement and moved on....now NS is just getting bad press, at a time where he can ill afford bad press.
--------------------------------
Ever since he was ousted from power in a coup, Nawaz Sharif has been a reliable voice in the fight to keep the military out of matters that rightfully belong to civilians. Even though his party, the PML-N, was a creature of the military establishment back in Ziaul Haq’s days, it seems that now it is the only party willing to take on the might of the military. In that context, Nawaz Sharif’s vow to bring military courts to Karachi, if he comes into power, is doubly disappointing. Thankfully, Sharif’s proposal has been rejected and condemned by the PPP in Sindh and also been rubbished by the Supreme Court, despite the fact that the PML-N played a big role in helping restore the superior judiciary after Pervez Musharraf’s attacks on it. Sharif, who has been visiting Sindh a lot recently in an effort to try and make inroads in the province, apparently thought that the thirst for quick justice would lead to strong support for military justice. He has been proven wrong.
While relying on military justice is problematic in any case, this is doubly true for Karachi. Using the military to solve Karachi’s problems only exacerbates them. The MQM, for one, would never accept the presence of the military in what they consider to be their city if there was any chance that they would end up being targeted. The ANP and PPP, too, would have serious reservations about submitting their activists to military courts. While military courts may not be as disastrous as previous military operations in the city that is a very low threshold to cross. What makes the proposal even more curious is that it came at a time when Karachi is going through a period of relative calm. Nawaz Sharif, having had his rule curtailed twice before, should best understand the importance of building institutions and the rule of law. If he feels the judiciary has failed the people of Karachi, he needs to explain how it has done so and what can be done to get the process back on the right track. Simply using the military as a band-aid solution will not end the crisis; it will actually make it worse by eroding faith in civilian institutions.Posted 4 months ago on 04 Jan 2012 21:47 # -

Probably this article put a better light on the issue at hand:
http://pakteahouse.net/2011/12/18/punjabi-elite-and-armed-forces-is-there-a-connection/The following excerpts are taken from the article:
Most of the political developments in Pakistan involve armed forces and also Punjab’s politicians as Punjab is the most populous province. Some or the other, a narrative has developed which links Punjab and armed forces (who mostly hail from Punjab) in a conspiring role. Even now as President Zardari is having political problems, several journalists are calling it a conspiracy of Punjab, hatched with the support of armed forces, against smaller provinces.There is absolutely no doubt that Punjab dominates the armed forces both in the Jawan as well as officer cadre. Armed forces have a tremendous budget allocated to them (a huge portion of it is not quantified even though Miss Ayesha Siddiqua’s book does make a good attempt). Consequently, as a result the benefits accruing to army affect more Punjabi households rather than other provinces. And these benefits are extraordinary ranging from subsidized commercial plots, after retirement high profile civilian jobs to memberships at paltry rates to otherwise very expensive clubs.
Yes, if we change the army’s composition it will ensure more benefits to other provinces but may not change the centralized structure favouring Punjab. Over emphasis on population based distribution of resources is diverting too much resources to Punjab’s advantage The overall state structure with all its political institutions, elected and non elected, are geared towards excessive centralization both administratively and ideologically. This centralized structure is the major culprit and it has Punjab as its major beneficiary.
All of the above excerpts show that Army is part of the axis of evil along with the politicians and beaurucrats because the nerve centres are situated in Punjab in a very centralized formation.
So the army operation in Karachi and Baluchistan ensures the benefits from tapped and untapped resources as Army and civil services eats a whopping 90%+ of the total budget. The euqation is unbalanced and we are being buried under turmoil and mounds of deficit because of that.
what NS is doing is a pony show to please the establishment that wants an increasing share in the pie with political assurance.
my posting is not insinuation against common Punjabi but those who cradles the power for their own selfishness and short-term gain. In the end, we will all lose including common people from Punjab.

However, the record jalse shows the thousands of people putting their trust in IK. Nothing can take away that.

Pakistani84,
I have been watching these jalsa jaloos since 83/84. 83's MRD movement was the first political activity which i saw.
I didn't see the 1977 movement as i was too young but historians say that Asghar Khan led the largest procession in karachi at that time. But what happened to Asghar Khan. He never sat in the national assembly (although he won on couple of seats in 1977).
In 1986 , when BB came back , it was Junejo sahib's era. BB welcome jalsa was very big and rallies she carried were immense but what happened ? Junejo sahib gave free hand , she took jalsa jaloos for couple of months and then fizzled out. Later in 88 elections , she was not able to form government in punjab (Although ISI played the vital role in fomration of IJI).
I m pretty sure that u didn't saw the COP jalsa on Shahreh Quaideen in 1990 as well or MQM jalsa in Nishtar Park 1986.
So , bahi , these jalsa jalloos matter but ultimate thing is the outcome of the ballot.

@Pakistani84: "Hamara leader to Karachi mein record jalse kar raha hai."
Kia aap us jalsa kee bat kar rahain hain jis main aap ke bahadur leedar nay "chohay" aour "us ke tanzeem" kay khilaf aaik bhee lafz nahi nikala?
Lagta hay aap ka bahadur leader chuhaw aur us kay himaaitoon say dar gaya yeah phir woh chohay say mila howa hay.

Qaisar ,
Nice one.
People who don't learn from history , become a liabiliy.
NS made the same mistakes that Mr.Bhuto has done in 70's
a) Toppling elected govt in Balochistan
b) Empowering UNIFORMED ANGELS through nuclear program
c) Appointing a junior COAS considering him to be personal loyalNow , NS is again speaking of repeating same mistakes . Don't know when he would learn ?
Posted 4 months ago on 05 Jan 2012 1:43 # -
@SA,
You can have examples both ways. Bhutto big jalses turned into a reovlution on the ballot box, but Asghar Khan's didn't. So any example can be chosen to both support and doubt Imran.
I think these jalse will have effect. They simply show the real support among the masses enjoyed by IK. Finally, people of Pakistan have an option. They were never voting for PMLN and PPP because they wanted to, but because they had no better alternative.
Now they have an option who they really want to vote.
Do you know Nishtar Park is less than half of the ground of PTI jalsa in Karachi.
Posted 4 months ago on 05 Jan 2012 13:35 # -
@Dusky,
Kiya chohe ke bare mein baat karna ek leader ko shoba deta hai?
Jo khud IK ko bar bar welcome kar raha ho aur Lahore ke jalse ko praise kar raha ho, un se kyun larai banai jaye? Kyun bari partiyon ko faiyda poonchaya jai jo parliament mein majority rakhteen hain?
Karachi ki situation ko PTI iqtedar mein aa kar handle kare gi aur kisi bhi compromise ka shikar nahi ho gi. That's guaranteed under IK's leadership.

'I think these jalse will have effect.'
Will , shall , should , must don't matter. Ground realities matter.Posted 4 months ago on 05 Jan 2012 13:55 # -
@SA,
Don't go below the belt. Saying IK was "barking" shows that I have touched some nerves by criticizing Altaf Hussian, the rat hiding in a London's gutter.
At that time, the choha was involved in May 12 carnage so IK had to talk about the choha. IK tried to try the choha but couldn't becuase he was licking Musharraf's feet who didn't allow Scotland Yard.
But all in all, IK doesn't have to speak about the choha at every address. He will take care of him when he comes to power.
As for elections, let's see. My opinion is based on ground realities.
