pakistani society is fast embracing hindu culture .the speed is so much that now not only our culture but even our religious customs are getting effected by hindu religion.
lately i have been observing that whenever a blast takes place or a natural calamity hits and some people die ,than our civil society people light oil lamps (diyaa in urdu) on the place of that calamity to "bless" the spirit of deceased...
now in 1400 years of islam their is no precedence or example where muslims lit lamps and fires for the deceased.this is purely a hindu custom.
todays dawn paper on page one has a large picture where civil society women are lightening lamps in memory of those deceased in lahore blast.
similar lamps were lit in earlier blasts in liberty chok munawan station and after some natural disasters.
islam only allows muslims to recite fateha for deceased and tells us to ask forgiveness for the dead persons sins.
also i observed that in liberty chok incidence the deceased policemans picture was garlanded like hindus garland the picture of their dead.
so without any doubt our society specially in punjab and sindh is converting back to hinduism .which is tragic as most of punjabis and sindhis forefathers converted to islam in past now their children are again going back to hinduism.may be they never converted to islam with their hearts?
our marriage and other daily customs specially in punjab and sindh are already mostly hindu inspired.
our prophet pbuh said that
Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: He who copies any people(of other religion) is one of them." - Sunan
Abu-Dawud, Book 32, #4020 - Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar.
so by this hadith which is sahih we can safely say that those pakistanis who adopt hindus customs are no longer muslims .
(also now it seems that one prophecy is coming true.(let me tell you that only allah knows best and no prophecy made by humans is final but allah sometimes does show some events of future to some pious people so that next generation of people may take some lesson.but knowledge of ghaib only belongs to allah and its allahs will that how much little portion among it he wants to give to some person temporarily)
coming back to the prophecy .
long time ago syed naimat shah wali a pious muslim from subcontinent predicted some end time events in his poetry book ,most of these events have already came true by allahs will...in one part of his book in form of poetry syed naimat shah wali says that near end times punjab and lahore will be re captured by muslims.some people asked that lahore is already in muslims hands? so how can this prophecy be true?at this some aalims replied that maybe this prophecy refers to the fact that majority of muslims near end time will be on such level of nifaaq that they will no longer be included among muslims? and you people do not see in peoples hearts.majority of our people have not even a needles point worth of islam in their heart.by capturing of lahore it might mean that near end times punjab sindh balochistan etc and lahore will be again captured by true muslims thus replacing so called munafiq muslims
and only allah knows the best

This vigil custom might seem unislamic but this is not hindu either. This is a western custom and its been done numerous times in west to remember someone.
Some NGO type, western influenced, low self-esteem begum sahibas started this custom in pakistan.

but why than hindus light lamps for dead? but in christian funerals i have never seen such lamp lights?
can you give me proof that it is not a hindu custom to light lamps for dead and put garlands on dead persons pictures?Posted 2 years ago on 04 Jun 2009 19:52 # -
It might be a hindu custom, I dont know about it, but this is done more often in western countires and these NGO begum sahibas brought this to Pakistan under western mental influence.

It might still be a hindu thing, but one thing is for sure is that this is not our culture, but this is not necessarily a religious ceremony either, so it might be not too wrong to do it.
However, I am dead against any hindu or Indian custom in any way. I hate how girls these days call their
brother-in-law Jeej or Jeejo. I freaking hate it.Posted 2 years ago on 04 Jun 2009 20:08 # -

@topic
I know where this is going ..you want them to ban basant rite?I hope you have started this discussion for a serious debate
well my friend mores & culture strictly follow that herbet spencer's phrase i.e Survival of the fittest!
that's exactly why so many hindus say hardcore islamic words like masahallah, inshallah, shaheed etc ,etc on regularly basis, in fact I have even seen many whites using
the word Inshallah of late!and that's also why despite a strong propaganda by the religious pundits (you must be furious that i use this badboodar hindi word, right?) against festivals like basant, mehndi etc etc more & more people are embracing these festive activities!
I tell you what, instead of wasting your energies against things like that, just call all of them "qayamat ki nishaniyaan" and move on !

Bollywood is one of the main reason.
Many of you (I hope) will be unfamiliar with the nature and power of the ‘Bollywood’ film industry and the great impact it is having upon Muslims globally, I will now endeavour to shed some light on the area in a hope that it will make us reflect and help us reconsider our current neglect. The Indian film industry has been in operation for over fifty years and during this period of time it has been able to extend its large tentacles to every corner of the globe. Indeed where there is any substantial number of people from the Indian sub-continent ( that includes Bangladeshis and Pakistanis) you will find the long and murky shadow of Bollywood. Before the era of satellite dishes and cable companies, people would satisfy their craving for an Indian movie via the local video shop, and in the absence of these then there was always the radio and magazines at hand.
There is a constant barrage of accusations against Islam based on the myth that the Shariah is unfair to women, yet there appears to be a deafening silence at the gigantic level of exploitation of women by Bollywood. Women are always shown as being nothing more than objects to be jeered and wooed by ‘wannabe Romeos’. The most a woman is capable of achieving is to be able to dance in a park for any prospective ‘Casanova’, it is a most despicable and deplorable representation of the female. The high level of exposure to such role models to our younger generations of boys and girls has led to the current trend of irresponsible behaviour. Young boys practicing irresponsibility and young girls dreaming of an Amir or Salman to sweep them off their feet and take them to the park or library
It is perfectly acceptable for Muslims from the Indian sub-continent to be proud of their cultural heritage, and indeed Muslims from any part of the world can do like wise, the only problem comes when we begin to give more reverence to culture over and above the commands of Allah, cultural diversity is a blessing from Allah, it is not however on the same level as the Shariah and laws of Allah.
When we make the mistake of elevating our ethnicity and cultural origin to a level where it governs what we consider to be right and wrong we are heading for real trouble.
The above mentioned are mere snowflakes on the tip of the ice-berg, as to the real extent of damage that Bollywood has done, Allah alone only knows, but you can be sure it is massive. If you would like to prevent your children from growing up with a Shaytaan as a baby sitter – boycott Bollywood!
