  1. I dont know where to post any Art or Architecture related posts, information etc as i have noticed this category has been totally neglected while planning and including the list of themes on the forum which i think is unfair because this subject has always been an important component/part of not just Islamic history and civilization plus other civilizations of both Modern and Pre Historic times....

Dont you ppl think sharing and discussing different arts will further enhance our knowledge about different nations, races, people which will eventually help us bridging the gap between nations of East,West,North,South of our highly polarized world today...

Lastly i believe Art keeps the mind healthy and sound which is so very necessary for the ppl of this forum innit :D

History, pre-History is also my favourite being a facinating subject that guides us to what we were and what we should be or have been. Agreed 100%

  9. Frank was brought up on a prairie dwelling, sort of wild west that is in stark contrast to his creations.
Who motivated him? His mother with a gift of 'Froebel blocks' following a fine tuning by Louis Sullivan.
Louis always dominated his creativity that reflects in Franks works even though they had an on and off relationship at times.

  10. Yeah his early inspirations were from those froebel blocks his mother gave him to play which later were also seen as one of the characteristics of his building plans and designs..also his mother used cathedral prints as part of his crib hangings which were another source of inspiration for him towards art and design...

Also the financial conditions of his family when he was a baby even in his teens werent so sound so the family had to travel alot to different places, cities for work and food...this also helped him to study and have interaction with nature, nature influenced structures,buildings,places...

Frank stressed much on the promotion and implementation of Organic Architecture as "Philosophy" and not just as "Style" because as he was the lover of nature and natural materials used in construction etc so according to him its so very necessary to have an affective relationship of human beings with nature...which was so apparent in many of his projects like Falling Waters,Taliensin House,Robie House etc...

Since he is the most known Prairie Style Architect and the architectural style of most of the houses he designed were of Prairie Style like again Robie House (His last Project),Taliensin East,West Cott House,Willits House etc had all the main elements and features of a real Prairie Houses....

I have studied some of his projects in details especially His own house(which he named as Taliesin meaning "Shinning Brow" as it was located at the top of the hill) near Spring Green town...where he used limestone on the rough walls of the house to give a harmonious look of the surrounding envoirnment of the Hill, and long rows of Casement windows were part of the building so that the landscape and nature depiction could be clear through these windows while sitting inside and proper daylight could enter the house without any distraction then he used windows and doors ornamentation in the house, the house was very spacious as he never liked seperation Walls, flat roofs to prevent direct sunlight, natural building materials like wood, stones, as he was great admirer of such materials...hence there were all the ingredients present in this style of designing which could attract any type of person...

Im very much impressed by his work, his designing techniques are still used even in this modern times after so many years because they were nature influenced designs and as we know Nature Never Gets old!...only half of his designs could be seen in structural form in his life because he used to design alot all the time....

Few of the things(i had in mind right now) i shared here from my current assignment :D....will share more later!

  12. by da way he didn't have any degree in the study of Architecture because he left university/college while still in 3rd or 4th semester(not sure)and was considred a numskull...he then went over to world tour for i think 3 or 5 years, sketched and sketched lot, studied art and architecture through his own ways from different buildings,places,materials.....studied nature alot, the harmony in it of different things, colurs etc so thats how he got his real training and education of this particular field....
