I will bring a revolution, Imran Khan promises youth

    Saturday, April 17, 2010
    By By Rabia Ali

    Karachi

A sizable crowd of Karachi’s enthusiastic youth accorded Imran Khan, chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, a hearty applause as he reached the podium to address the gathering.

Speaking at an titled “Youth and Nation Building”, organised exclusively for the university students at a local hotel on Friday, the charismatic Khan pressed upon the youngsters to be idealistic and visionary keeping in mind that the youth was the most potent catalyst for change. He urged the students to join youth organisations in order to start a mass movement to strengthen the institutions of the country.

Citing his own example of believing in himself, he said that others had told him that he could never become a fast bowler and a captain at the same time, or open a cancer hospital providing free treatment to the poor.

“Now I will prove to them that I will be successful in bringing a revolution in the country,” he vowed to his young and appreciative audience.

During his captivating speech, Khan stressed upon four points needed to change the existing system in the country: powerful democracy, rule of law, economic justice and educational reforms. “If there is no rule of law then a criminal can also become president. Poor law and order situation has given freedom to robbers who are sitting in the assemblies. If there is rule of law in the country, feudalism will be wiped out automatically. There is a great need for an honest and sincere leader,” he said, citing the examples of able and dedicated leaderships of Singapore and Malaysia.

Elaborating on educational reforms, he said that the needed reforms should be introduced immediately, and called for introducing a uniform culture in all education institutions.

Referring to economic justice, he said that there should be rationality in the tax system. “Nawaz Sharif, who is a billionaire, pays only Rs5,000 tax, whereas Rehman Malik pays only Rs20,000,” he said, adding, “In the United States, 35 per cent of total taxes is paid by the one per cent of the wealthy and powerful people of the country”.

He slated the current leadership of the country, saying “it is ironical that our leaders have invested their money in foreign accounts and they keep on asking the foreigners for money. If the rich people pay taxes then the economic condition of the country will certainly improve”.

Describing Jinnah as his political role model and Iqbal as his idealistic role model, Khan said that he was against militancy and extremism and called himself as a follower of a liberal religion.

He said that if he were the head of the state, he would withdraw the Pakistani forces from the war-torn areas, draw a ceasefire, engage the local tribesmen to fight against the Taliban, and do away with the war on terror.

He believed that this was the only way to tackle the widespread and increasing terrorism in Pakistan.

Talking about the Hazara issue, he said that the matter should be resolved through consensus by the locals of the area. He also touched upon the deteriorating condition of sports teams of the country, saying there was an urgent need to bring out talent from schools and colleges.

At the end of the speech, a number of youngsters expressed their will to join youth organisations and said that they needed Imran Khan to guide them.

Good that Imran vows to bring a great revolution in the country! To start up with the first step, he must compensate all those victims of his past who became the targets of his merry making, drinking, racism and many other misdeeds. If Imran steps up with these compensations, then, no doubt, the whole nation will support him. Firstly, he needs to compensate his past misdeeds and then reform his personal character.

Who is the victim of his misdeeds?
You did not mention because there is no one.
We all commit mistakes or even sins, but so what's unusual in that?
A common Muslim can never be perfect as they are not Prophets.
Imran Khan is a national asset who has done a lot for this counrty despite he has never been in power.
If you go to past, who on earth had a good past?Did Hazrat Umer have a good past?
Wise people talk about present and future but insane sticks to past and never try to change himself

If your claims of his changed personality are true, then there is nothing else which can make me feel happier about the politics of Pakistan. When a man dicards is sinful style living and become a pious person, then no common Muslim can equate him.

Talking about Sahabas, I like to quote the example of Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid(RA). When he embraced Islam after fighting many wars against Islam, he decided to make attempts to embrace Shahadat to cover up his repentence. In the first war (mauta) after embracing Islam, he fought so bravely that nine nos. of swords were broken in his hands. He was then awarded the great title of Saifullah by Prophet(SAW).

If so is the case with Imran, it is the happiest news for the nation. Let him prove this change now! God bless you for your optimistic views and turn your optimism in reality!

  6. non of our prominent politicians have clean nd clear past just look into their past lives and u will see how morally and ethically corrupt these ppl were..so i dont think so the condition to clean his past first before working for a cause, should only be applied on him...and also i along with so many other ppl have noticed a change in his personal character over the years...

  8. Everyone has sined in passed but there is some politions who are still sining after being to Saudia. PML-N has had mna rapist, creditcardlady, Rana snaullah corruption, Mr. Nawaz himself steeling electricity and blaming on others as usaual. All these things has been done after Nawaz came from holidays in Saudia:)
People should give Imran a chance, we have tried PPPP and PML-N many times before. They always fail.

  9. Revolution need sacrify not words.

Give my message to imran khan, a crickter can bring revolution only in the feild of cricket not in the world

we need a revolution which bring back our golorious past of victories, we didn't need a revolution like pakistan wins all the world cup of cricket.

I didn't believe that anyone can bring revolution when ever there is false democratic system implemented in Pakistan.

We need a system, a system in which people are born leader

Let us check if IK has the virtues similar to those of Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Ali Bros., Allama Iqbal, etc. If he does have those virtues of character and caliber, then he really deserves be given a chance of taking the reins of the country.

If he posses the virtues of our above cited great leaders, then I request the members of this forum to describe them. If he does posses the virtues of the great leaders of the independence movement, then Pakistanis have really become very lucky to have such a great leader in this era.

Don't you guys think that most of the stuff we debate in this forum, should have been debated 60 years ago? I mean just look at this thread. Some people here want Khilafat, I want secularism, some want democracy, somebody else wants army to take over again. I don't think any system in Pakistan can work, if people don't have a stake in it.

  18. Islamic way of life for a Muslim has been well laid out for us through our Holy Book the Quran and the sayings of our Prophet Mohamed peace be upon him through Ahadees-e-Mubaraka. As an Islamic Scholar Dr. Israr attempted to explain issues further to us which is commendable.

Democracy with its inherent flaws and any other westernized ideology/ies are not in compliance with Islamic/Muslim values and norms therefore at least not successfully applicable in Muslim Majority Pakistan.

Another proof of flaws in democracy is Zardari as president. A system that allows people of ill repute at an international level and a confirmed mental retard on medical grounds in a foreign court of law, into power cannot be considered good for the nation/public at all.

  20. Democracy is not perfect, but it's much better and closer to Islam than dictatorship (as in Saudi Arabia), but people who criticize democracy usually have hypo-critic views about dictatorship, just because that country is ruled by those dictators that are closer to their school of thought in religion.

  22. Democracy in the present form is far from closer to Islam.
The selection of Uthman bin Affan RA was yielded to 6 people, all of them from Ashra Mubashra. Only after he had been chosen, the rest followed with the bayt or allegiance to Ibn Affan RA.

Main problems with democracy are three:

    a) its allows selection of John Doe.

So, you have got people like Zardari, Bush, Blair and Sharon as legitimate office holders but skewed outlook.

    b) if you can get enough numbers champion a cause you can have that installed.

Get enough people and you can have zoophilia legalized.

    c) It's greatest value - freedom of speech is still subtly strange.

Cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is freedom of expression but denying holocaust is a crime.

empty words cant bring revolution...He also said about judiciary movement by calling it rule of law which was later exposed as "restoration of judges for political motives" so by just giving false hope doesnt work....In case many havent noticed that before by election he was running so many campaigns like Dr. Afia, Blackwater, Zardari, NRO etc but now he is even out of picture and after by election even his supporters are quite on all those issues which he raised before by election so first he need to explain what happened to all those campaigns which he was running????
