Grim Ratings for National Conditions and Zardari
Pakistanis continue to be highly dissatisfied with conditions in their country. Roughly nine-in-ten (92%) are dissatisfied with the country's direction. Almost as many (85%) say the economic situation in Pakistan is bad. And optimism is scarce -- 60% think the economy will worsen in the next 12 months; only 13% believe it will improve.
Pakistanis list a myriad of problems afflicting their nation -- huge majorities say rising prices, a lack of jobs, crime, terrorism and political corruption are very big problems. Unsurprisingly, given these dismal assessments, ratings for President Asif Ali Zardari are overwhelmingly negative. Only 11% have a favorable view of him, down from 20% last year. His prime minister and fellow Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Yousaf Raza Gilani, receives a positive rating from 37% -- a significant drop from 59% in 2010.
Opposition leader Nawaz Sharif fares better: 63% express a positive opinion of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader, down from a year ago when 71% held this view. The most popular leader tested is former cricket star Imran Khan. Nearly seven-in-ten (68%) have a favorable view of the athlete turned politician, up from 52% in 2010.
On balance, Pakistanis continue to view Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry positively, although his ratings have fallen somewhat since last year (51% favorable in 2011; 61% in 2010).
Even though the Pakistani military has received some criticism since the U.S. raid that killed bin Laden, it remains overwhelmingly popular: 79% say it is having a good influence on the country. Ratings for military chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani have remained on balance positive -- 52% give him a favorable and 21% an unfavorable rating. This represents a slight change from the April poll conducted prior to bin Laden's death, when 57% rated him favorably and 18% unfavorably.
Also of note:
In addition to the military, the media and religious leaders are also well-regarded; 76% of Pakistanis say the media are having a good influence on the way things are going in their country and 60% say the same about religious leaders. Few give the police and the national government positive ratings.
Just 37% of Pakistanis say they followed news about the U.S. military raid that killed bin Laden very or somewhat closely, while 39% followed news about the raid not too closely or not at all closely.
Most Pakistanis support the U.S. providing financial and humanitarian aid to areas where extremist groups operate, and many want the U.S. to provide intelligence and logistical support for Pakistani troops fighting extremists.
Violence is the top concern among those who are worried about Islamic extremism in Pakistan; 40% say this, compared with 24% who are most concerned about the impact of extremism on the national economy, 16% who worry that it will lead to loss of freedoms, and 15% who fear extremism will divide the country.
More than eight-in-ten (85%) Pakistanis say suicide bombing and other violent acts against civilians in defense of Islam are never justified. Far fewer (38%) said this was the case in 2002, when the Pew Research Center first asked this question.Posted 11 months ago on 21 Jun 2011 22:45 # -
PMLN kay supporters ki tabiyat kharab ho gaie hay.
By the way I have heard that Shahbaz Sharif has decided to bring ALL HIS MONEY back in Pakistan. And that money is Rs. 3 karor. Shahbaz Sharif kyun zulm kartay hain apnay aap pay?

"PMLN kay supporters ki tabiyat kharab ho gaie hay."
May be, but 63% is still not bad for PMLN. Although 68% for Imran Khan is a great news but those will be meaningless number unless he tests them at the polls. He is nowhere to be seen in AJK or any bye elections elsewhere in Pakistan.
Without electoral success, these numbers won't get him anywhere.
Posted 11 months ago on 22 Jun 2011 0:30 # -
will portray him as another Obama and then he will try to win the elections
they think or hope that the Pakistani public is more law abiding and there wont be much electoral rigging.lol

Elections se 4 months pehlay everything turns upside down.
However if the survey is true and immu darling maintains the popularity then chances are establishment kay saath saath amreeka bhi immu pay investment karay gaa.
I still dont think he can win more than 15 seats, but this might change.

He has gained this respectand trust of the people after a long struggle. Imran Khan has proved again and again that he is a true fighter. he dereves to be the PM of this country.
We have tried PPPs and PLMs many times but they have ruined this country for their own greed.
from swiss banks to surrey palaces and itafaq foundary to london businesses all the money belong to this poor nation.
I don't call Imran Khan an angel but he is the best to lead the country amonst all the available politicians.

IK popularity is touching its top in the list so what?
Zardari's popularity is on the bottom of the same list but he is President of the Islamic Republic Atomic power Pakistan.
Ek Zardari sub per bhari.
Such reports are just for fun to entertain our public. Ground reality is entirely different in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Sources confirm that PML-Q senior minister Marvi Memon has joined PTI. The former member of PML-Q has decided to join hands with PTI at a crucial time when Pakistan seems hungry for leadership.
The war stricken country seeks to end its tumultuous era vis-a-vis finding a good leadership to lead the nation towards the betterment of lives and more options for opportunities such as more jobs, and industrial opportunity. However, the corrupt leadership of the country seems hell-bent upon impeding the progress of the people via a criminal method of status quo.
Marvi Memon is another example of a young set of restless Pakistanis, wanting to bring a serious change to the country. Her present move may prove to be a boon towards her carrier; she has been struggling for up till now. She has proven to be a staunch patriot and displayed exceptional leadership abilities needed to bring a positive change in the country. Her move can prove to be the best yet, as the power starved nation looks toward cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan to lead the nation out of current crisis.
21.6.11(The first one out in the open. Many others waiting in the wings.)

Ratings are false. Khans popularity is atleast 85% at this time.
Nesti leagues time is up. If the bunch of cowards and loosers are thinking that Punjab came with their mothers dowry, then they were badly mistaken.
All hail to hardwork, all hail to commitment to the people, all hail to Khan.
Its the biggest establishment of them all, its Allah SWT kee zaat. Haq kee baat kehnay wala zada der nai dabaya jaa sakta hai. Yo usee that in action now dont you?
Aur IJI k liey 35 lac lenay wala jamhooriat ka champion b nai ho sakta. Y ho sakta hai ?

the support for Imran khan is increasing because of his focus on policy issues. other parties should learn from Imran khan & PTI to focus on issues and try to address the problems of average pakistanis. this will serve their parties well too.

This is well deserved! If any one deserves to lead this poor country with IMMENSE resources then it is IK. Once this man rule PAK for ten years I am convinced that he will turn this great country up to the true potential, inshallah.
PML-N aur baki maazi key ghalityaN/badmashiaN karney waloo...This is the writing on the wall "Your days are numbered. Get ready for the hour of true ehtesaab". If you are lucky we might opt for a true NRO. What do you prefer?

It's important that the voter lists are updated, but i think Imran at most is going to win 5-10 seats but will act as a spoiler for other parties, just my opinion could be wrong.

Imran was also popular before 1997, 2002 and all bye elections after 2008. What Pakistanis could get with his so much popularity if he does not have strong and enough candidates to contest and win elections. Unfortunately he could not find a single candidate to run AJK election although he is on peak of his popularity. Only his so called personal popularity could not make IK the next PM, he has to win more than one seat for that.

The Taikaydar of Karachi will either compromise with Imran or flee as a result of some deal, then Imran will release some jackals like Nasirullah Baber or Tikka Khan on the public of Karachi.
Posted 11 months ago on 23 Jun 2011 7:50 # -
@haqkiawaz
it is difficult for IK to win even one seat as long as the FAKE VOTING exists. Not in a 1000 years, so therefore him running for elections in AJK was pretty pointless. What we are waiting for is the main elections and then inshallah we pray to Allah that IK becomes our next leader.
Inshallah the beginning of Change and happiness.

It is a shock that nawaz sharif has an approval rating of 63%.
PTI needs to get together and have an emergency meeting.I was on the opinion he would get something like 23% approval rating.
More work needs to be done by PTI, as this dumb nation still needs to be shown the truth.

What an absolute nonsense !!!!
Thakaydaar of KHI are in bed with those who released Naseerullah Babar. Secondly, why would he do that ???

Whether you accept or not the reality is that no politician is an angel from the sky. They all are more or less same or similar in character. The general public is the sufferer in the hands of these jackals.

"Whether you accept or not the reality is that no politician is an angel from the sky. They all are more or less same or similar in character. The general public is the sufferer in the hands of these jackals."
In a way you are excused because each and every leadership you have seen has compromised on vital issues/principles. There are certain issues where you can compromise to reach your goal, but you can never compromise on any issue that detracts you from reaching your ultimate goal. IK has proven that he is a true leader. He was steadfast on several issues, f.es. the so called war on terror. he faced hard times but ultimately he proved himself right and he is enjoying being the most POPULAR leader of Pakistan. I promise you that he hasn't peaked yet. He will peak once he is the PM of Pakistan, inshallah. I suppose it will happen in 1-2 years after steering Pakistan out of immense danger and after 5-10 years you will see a transformed Pakistan - not to be recognized by anybody. It will be prosperous and strong Pakistan!

Scandinavian
May Allah make your dreams come true, Aameen! Honestly, I don't see any potential leader on our political horizon who can attain the objective which is unanimous for the nation.
Our country has the potential to become as prosperous as an Scandinavian country.
Posted 11 months ago on 23 Jun 2011 10:59 # -
@HF
Once again, my bro. Believe me that we have even more resources than the Scandinavian countries. We harvest 3 times a year and still go hungry to bed. They harvest once a year and have more food than they can digest. In fact they dump food in between. We have immense man power. We lack in education, but that's matter of a number of years and then we will rocket upwards as a free, independent and strong country. BUT all that requires a decent leadership. The only choice is to rally behind PTI. All the other forces are tried and tested and CANNOT and WILL NOT deliver!
