I have been a critic of ISI over its role in Pakistani Politics. But recently I met some one from ISI and had a detail chat about its role in Pakistani Politics. According to this source, there is a cold war between MI and ISI. MI is mainly governed currently by Shiite Muslims who are obviously Pro Iran and ISI are mainly Sunni Muslims. There is a clear war between these two agencies and hence ISI trying to keep a tab on Iran while MI is covering Iran and propagating its propaganda.
It's very worrying situation for any loyal Pakistani as Americans have their own evil plans which I will mention in another thread but I think that this war within these two agencies should be stopped.
Needless to say that I and every Pakistani who loves this country will stand by ISI regardless when it comes to the Sovereignty of our country regardless of our differences.
What do you all think about this issue?

Where is the mention of the actual 'Invisible Government', the most powerful 'ghostly' entity within Pakistan. ISI or the MI none of them are so powerful or could even think of. But then ISI is also accused of taking Saudi side and propogating Saudi views. In either case, it is very alraming that two intelligence agencies are clashing with each other on sectarian prefrences, but I doubt if this is true. This is probably more of a policy issue. we have seen some moves lately by government to move into Iranian camp as opposed to Saudi camp.
btw, what kind of ISI official is that who publicly discuss its intelligence agency's issues and policies. Last time I checked, such people are supposed to hide even their IDs.
mirza sahab, please tell us about the ghost which is not ISI or MI or government. Who is this ghost? If these three are not, then who else is left?

this tale of sunni vs shia in intelligence and Punjabi vs mahajir in army brass etc...are cover up stories and punishment for listening to saudia too much after zia!
I know for a fact that, no sector of our current government, politics, army, education have any positive or faidamand policy towards the idea of "PAKISTAN" every section of our exisitance is actually chopping at the base of this idea called pakistan!

There is a political wing witin ISI that deals with internal politics. Real ISI probably operates in Kandhar, Srinagar, Hirat and New Delhi, Dhaka, Colombo and Khatmandu.

I belive mohajirs are not more allowed to go to top ranks after this whole MQM thing, musharraf was a notable exception though.

Mulla, I can't tell you here but he is a high official in Pak Army.... And Bsoabid, ISI are also made of PAKISTANIS! They are certainly humans and the information I am sharing with you is not exclusive to me but its an open secret in Pak Army.

I must say Mulla, that after meeting this ISI person, I can feel a change in my views about them. I did mention ISI role in dirty pakistani politics as well and critised them (Yes! They do listen to critisim !) but listening to some horrific plans, I do feel that they are doing pretty tough job and I should give them a break by my ill informed views in the past.

Nobody is supporting the zaliman now, as the masters of zaliman based in Afghanistan are licking their wounds. BTW the locals were overpowered and bullied into submission. semirza just a couple of days ago there was a media campaign by Baitulla where popular journalist like Raheemullah Yusufzai, Hamid Mir, Saleem Safi and another one wrote articles in Jang saying (and read how rediculous their arguments are) Baitullah may be involved in lots of terrorist activities but he is not an agent of anyone and he is a good muslim and a sincere muslim. My blood was boiling when I read those crazy articles. Anyways, my understanding from earlier news reports was Zaliman had some support in all those areas and that is why I wanted to ask Khan_sahib about that because he is on the ground rite now, but I hope that support was never there or atleast it does not exist anymore.

I support ISI in its foriegn operations but not in domestic political assignments. They have rigged elections in Pakistan and I dont support that at all. I do support ISI for its war against zaliman.

I sort of think the same. They may be some differences between MI and ISI. we heard the same things about US intelligence agencies. Remember 9/11 hearings?? Everyone knows about it that there was internal rift between US intel agencies. So I guess this is natural. However, I dont think these differences are setarian motivated. I dont think this is a simple shia sunni difference. I refuse to believe this. Oranisations this big and at this level dont take such petty differences into account.

It means that one is attempting to constructively criticize under-hand double-covert-dealings that are more political in nature than the politicians themselves.
It means that one is (perhaps simply and naively) attempting to veer towards transparency and sincerity with regards to Pak's future. We all know of the high level chalaki that is happening on all fronts within the intel agencies and the civ. serv operators. But this has seriously got us know where.... fast!
