Islam and the Intolerance Problem

    While the attempted murder of an American Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, has prompted an outpouring of grief and soul-searching, the fatal shooting of a prominent elected official in another country around the same time has provoked a very different reaction. After Salman Taseer, governor of the Pakistani province of Punjab, was murdered by his own bodyguard, there was a wave of support for the murderer -- from religious figures and ordinary citizens, from several political parties, and even from a group of lawyers. The reason? Taseer had spoken out against Pakistan's blasphemy laws and in support of Aasia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

    Such harrowing stories cannot be ignored in the discussion of Islam and religious tolerance.

    the title should have been either "Muslims and the intolerance problem" or a particular mindset or group of ppl having this problem...what has religion Islam got to do with it?....blame sum of those followers not the path!

    So what would be the punishment for Asia bibi if she did the same in Saudia, Iran, Turkey or any other Muslim country?

    Islam and tolerance ? You can say "Muslims and Tolerance". That would make sense.

    Why do you expect so-called tolerance in a society, in a collective, in a nation, where;

    (1) personal ego is above all, let the code of conduct, laws, standards, principles go to hell ?
    (2) personal ego matters, rather than facts, justice ?
    (3) justice doesn't mean anything to most anybody ?
    (4) honesty doesn't mean anything to most anybody ?
    (5) bravery doesn't mean anything to most anybody ?
    (6) self reliance doesn't mean anything to most anybody ?
    (7) injustice is the norm of the day ?
    (8) willingly accepting slavery is the norm of the day ?
    (9) it is acceptable for the common man to give power to tyrants ?
    (10) the common man gives power to those tyrants who loot their money, who take money out of circulation of local economy, send it abroad to bank accounts ? and then the "hypocr|te" common man makes hue and cry over his life getting worse, rather than coming together and doing something about it

    Check out this video. See how much of wrongdoing, injustice people of Pakistan have been "tolerating" thus far.

    Islam is religion of peace and tolerance but our fasadi molvis are committed to defame Islam and inciting intolerance and hatred for other faiths.
