Justice Javed's parents slain in cold-blood

LAHORE – The parents of Justice Javed Iqbal of Supreme Court (SC) have been killed, said news reports.
A private news channel reported quoting police sources as saying that some armed people stormed the residence of Justice Javed Iqbal in Cavalry Ground and killed his parents when they resisted a robbery attempt. The channel also quoted the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) as saying that Justice Javed’s father, Former DIG Abdul Hameed, was killed when he resisted robbers’ attempt.
Police cordoned the site and launched probe into the incident, said the channel, adding that Justice Javed Iqbal left for his residence after receiving the information about the death of their parents. The Pakistan Air Force has provided Justice Javed with a plane to fly him to Lahore.
The channel also reported that the designate Punjab Governor told media that Justice Javed’s parents were muffled to death with pillow forced on their faces. Police also said that Justice Iqbal’s parents were suffocated to death, the report added.
Earlier, newly-appointed of Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Federal Law Minister Babar Awan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry along with all the SC judges arrived at Justice Javed’s residence.
Another channel reported that the parents of Justice Javed Iqbal were found dead in their home late Tuesday.
The cannel citing initial report said that the parents of Justice Javed were murdered during a robbery.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani voiced grief over the sad incident and directed to submit an inquiry report in this regard within two days.
According another channel, the neighbours said two women were seen entering the house and later the main door was open when they entered the house they found the deceased.
The neighbours expressed that they might be killed owing to suffocation, added the channel.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahabaz Sharif, Law Minister Sanaullah also reached the spot.
A high-level committee has been formed to launch probe into the incident.
Separately, SCBA President Aasma Jahangir announced a strike will be observed today (Wednesday) to protest against the killing, calling for immediate inquiry of the incident and bringing the culprits to book.
In a statement, she said the lawyers would boycott the courts to protest against the murder of the parent of Justice Javed. However, no official confirmation has been received till the filing of this report.
