Rawalpindi - May 5, 2011:
138th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held today at General Headquarters Rawalpindi. General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) chaired the meeting.

One point agenda was the Abbottabad incident in which Osama Bin Laden was killed by US forces. The Forum discussed the incident and its implications and on military to military relations with the United States.

While admitting own shortcomings in developing intelligence on the presence of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan, it was highlighted that the achievements of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), against Al Qaeda and its terrorist affiliates in Pakistan, have no parallel. The Forum was informed that around 100 top level Al Qaeda leaders / operators were killed / arrested by ISI, with or without support of CIA. However, in the case of Osama Bin Laden, while the CIA developed intelligence based on initial information provided by ISI, it did not share further development of intelligence on the case with ISI, contrary to the existing practice between the two services. Nonetheless, an investigation has been ordered into the circumstances that led to this situation.

COAS made it very clear that any similar action, violating the sovereignty of Pakistan, will warrant a review on the level of military / intelligence cooperation with the United States.

The Corps Commanders were informed about the decision to reduce the strength of US military personnel in Pakistan to the minimum essential.

As regards the possibility of similar hostile action against our strategic assets, the Forum reaffirmed that, unlike an undefended civilian compound, our strategic assets are well protected and an elaborate defensive mechanism is in place.

The Forum, taking serious note of the assertions made by Indian military leadership about conducting similar operations, made it very clear that any misadventure of this kind will be responded to very strongly. There should be no doubt about it.

The Forum reiterated the resolve to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan and to fight the menace of terrorism, with the support and help of the people of Pakistan.

The interesting thing is until the GHQ meeting all political figures outside of government were shut and so was foreign office.

It does make sense that Foreign Office took its time and consulted with GHQ because this was a national security matter but what surprises me the most is Immu and others like him were numb and right after the GHQ meeting they started giving "strong" statements. Immu did give a statement right after the incident but that was meaningless and benign.

A word of caution. I have noticed members are eager to jump on a band wagon labeled 'generalization' of anything, any topic, any issue. This rhetoric is dangerous!

this is matter of wisdom to deal with yankees our youg members are taking all easy that yankees are like indian army to fight with them..they have nothing there just they will go away and fire any thing from 5000km ,then whom our army will target and fight. no matter we can hit thier one oar many ships in middle east but think what they will do next to our big cities and economy......

best way to follow the china policy just be patiant and let them have a long scale of wars to demage their economy and moral destruction...

Apne wali waris ko bhi koi thokar marta hai ? fauj khabhi bhi usa ke khilaf ja hi nahi sakti. Yeh sare bayanat , meetings sab awam ko ullo banane ke liye hoti hain, andarkhane ki baaat kisi ko pata nahi hoti.

Be specific.
Is all the army corrupt, baigharat, or what ever?

Are all the politicians sold out?

Point out who in particular from the army and not the whole army.
Point out who in particular from a particular political party and not all of the politicians.

I hope you get it now.

I say a significant part of this Fauj is beghairath, screw military protocol, when your country men are being butchered isn't it the responsibility of every soldier to say i am not standing for this, i will do anything in my means too shoot at any invading forces, be it on the ground or in the air.

if USA Aid for pak Army stopped then again they have an other non stop issue of kashmire and they will make it alive again to eat every thing of our funds and taxes...

so better they should be with these yankees and let them be at thier destination of luxurious life.and enjoying honey moon with America.

We should not critcize whole army due to some besharm acts of top generals. Army consists of many jawans who are sacrificing their days and nights at the boarders to protect the nation. Only the top most breed of army i.e Generals are like the cancer to our nation. These generals spend most of their times to acquire all the attractive land across Pak through DHA rather than safeguarding awam against the foreign intruders.

BTW: The title of this thread is MISLEADING. Kiyani has NOT said that or anything remotely close. What he said is:

1. They are NOT going to take any action even now.
2. That they will NOT stop the next such attack.
3. And if another one does happen, even then they will ONLY "REVIEW LEVEL OF MILITARY AND INTELLIGENCE COOPERATION WITH U.S." (meaning even then they will probably not make a change)

why they were unable to defend osama???Thy were providing cover to osama and cannot locate the enemy of osama what a jokers of ISI have been on the osama cover mission.....

Very true secualirist.

The only two resignation i remember were

a) Lt.Gen. Sahabzada Yaqoob Ali Khan in march 71 when yahya postponed the NA assembly session .

b) Brig.Niaz along with 2 others when he resigned in 77 while refusing to open fire (althougy BAHDUR FAUJ happily did that in khi / hyderabad).

The warning of our general was shortly followed by an attack over PNS Mehran. The public was already disappointed about the performance of the army over Abbotabad incident then something like adding insult to injury took place at PNS Mehran.
