So we all complain about our leadership being incompetent, dishonest, corrupt etc.

Name some of the qualities you want to see in our leaders. Please be specific and to note the obvious, lets say we all want our leaders to be good muslims.

    1) Intelligent - so he can appreciate the problems and come up with good solution
    2) Clever - So he can deal with our enemies
    3) Kind-hearted - So he can make awami policies
    4) Honest
    5) Brave - So he does not make compromises

skyfacts, so what is your suggestion then? You are saying we cant have leaders with all these qualities because awam who select these leaders do not possess these qualities either. Ok, but what is the suggestion? what to do about it?

Nafs, please do not make personal and provocative statements. This is a serious discussion and please keep it like that.

No, I dont agree with your statement. This is true that "qaum pay onn kay aamal hukumat kartay hein" but collective thinking of awam cant be wrong. Awam is desperate to see a good leader to lead them. You will never find any person saying I need a leader who is corrupt, or I need a leader who is dishonest. It is true that good leadership is not emerging at the moment, but given the awami desperation I can 100% guarantee new leadership will surface very soon.

    Let me also add this:

Aristotle once said he feels sorry for a nation who does not have a leader. His teacher Plato said, I feel sorry for a nation who needs a leader.

Read the rest of my post and you will know why I do not completely agree with you. What I even less agree with is we should lose hope and sit and wait for our nation to become saleh and naik. This is not a practical approach.

    dear obaid,
Again you missing some thing here.....Never all the ppl of a nation are GUHAHGAR.....Some of the ppl also naik salih.....So why wait long........when u have such stuff available...you get it dear now...

Prophets were sent because of shaitaan. If awam was naik and saleh, there was no need for prophets. So prophets were sent due to a less-than ideal situation and they represent a fundamental defect in human nature. There are no prophets for angels.

Similarly, if a nation is honest, noble and disciplined, it does not need leaders. Such nation can self-organise. So need for leaders represent a less than ideal situation. I hope you understand.

Moving forward, I wont respond to any of your post in this thread with religious overtones.

Exactly, this is what this post is about. How do you define a good leader ( and in your lingo, a naik leader).

Should have the skills to critically analyze situation
    Must b practical
No contradiction bw words and deeds.

  21. @bsobaid,
very good topic initiated by you.

in my opinion ..i have a simple recipe for a good leader.
see who are the good leaders world has?
Abrahim Linkin of USA ,Quaid e Azam of Pakistan ,Gandhi of india ,Kamal Atta Turk of Turkey,Mohatair Muhammad of Malaysia /or Neilson Mandela ....

they all have some similar qualities and these are the qualities we should consider as the criteria for a good leader .

    common factors :
    1. they were all HONEST with their public
2.they all say less ,work more
    3. their DEDICATION to their respective nations
    4. they all believe in making the Impossible ,Possible
    5. they all were knowledgeable
    6. they all were PRACTICAL
    7. they all were short n to the point when they talk.
    8. they all were courageous .

any quality you can find in the politicians around?

    Good post Beenai.

I liked your analysis framework. Analyse qualities of great leaders and see what they had in common.
Their priorities were set right. They were brave, so they did not compromise on their priorities. They did not get carried away by circumstances.
Very true, they were all practical, less talk and more work. Very good analysis. Dedicated and hardworker.
