MQM Punjab Convention - Another failed attempt to enter into Punajb politics

LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has failed to launch itself in Punjab through its workers’ conventions and the party’s chief Altaf Hussain has shamed himself and his party by using the words ‘Shikari ****’ (hunting dogs) in his speech, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member Provincial Assembly Dr Ashraf Chohan said on Sunday.

Chohan said the provincial government had provided all facilities, including foolproof security, to the MQM for its convention, but the party failed to amass local support amongst the people.

He said a majority of the people who participated in the convention were from Sindh, who tried to show the party’s supposed strength in Punjab.

“The MQM spent loads of money on the conventions, but the people of Punjab have rejected their linguistic politics and showed their sympathies and affiliation with the PML-N and the Sharif brothers,” he added.

Chohan said all claims of MQM’s chief Altaf Hussain were “fake and bogus”, because he had forgotten Pakistani ethics, culture, traditions and problems during his stay in London.

He suggested that the MQM should reconsider its policies if it wanted to be successful outside Karachi.

I would say khoda pahar -nikla choha. MQM should stick to karachi only. period.

What else do you expect from PMLN?

  3. Not a bad start at all. Their debut into Punjab should not be taken as a bad omen judged by a speech only. Let them establish themselves in Punjab first of all.

I wish they establish themselves in Punjab and give tough fight to Jageerdars!

Judging a party by only one convention is not right!

And by the way it is NOT easy to move Punjabi people! I hate their sluggishness on many crucial matters! But once they move out on streets(I pray that they do), then it would be 'a day'. Good luck to patriotic and progressive parties (and people) of Pakistan!!

From what I saw on express news paper, not many people showed up in the convention, Perhaps some lahori member tells us about it.

  7. I see approximately eleven hundred (1100) people in this pic (generous count). Sorry could not include people in other part of the world. Can someone count better.

14 people of on the stage
35 rows x 30 persons average in each row.

According to the Gallup statistic released just after the 2008 elections, MQM had 2% of the popular vote.

As long as punjab keeps voting for waderaas, jageerdars, chaudharies, sons of MNA/MPA, sons of sons of MNA/MPA, MQM got no chance in punjab..

People of punjab need to wake up and choose leaders from within their ranks and file. Not some one who is from their own baradari, zila, khaandaan, zaat etc.

Don't elect MQM, elect someone else but please don't elect uneducated, fake-degree holders, rapists, credit card choors, users of words like heera-mandi, mujra-watchers, caught in exam cheeting kind of politicans.

Otherwise we have no hope for this country!

I fully agree with your last post. PML-N is personal jageer of Sharif brothers and they give party tickets to badmash politicians and the type which you have mentioned above. What a shame!!

I like this part of your post.

"Don't elect MQM, elect someone else but please don't elect uneducated, fake-degree holders, rapists, credit card choors, users of words like heera-mandi, mujra-watchers, caught in exam cheeting kind of politicans"

    @freeman

    I second your views.

It doesnt matter if the people of Punjab elect MQM or not. What matters is that they start electing people from their own class and background.

No Mian, Nawab or Chaudhry is going to protect the interest of the middle classes.

If this convention gives rise to a middle class party in Punjab, all the better.

No more "uneducated, fake-degree holders, rapists, credit card choors, users of words like heera-mandi, mujra-watchers, caught in exam cheeting kind of politicans"

Look at the source: "Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member Provincial Assembly Dr Ashraf Chohan said on Sunday." lol

I was personally surprised by the overwhelming response MQM got from south punjab (Multan). Image from Multan convention:

I wasn't expecting much from Lahore because it is the ghar of PMLN, nor from Pindi as MQM would encounter a lot competition from Pindi because of PMLN and Sheikh Rasheed.

I am really pissed off with MQM conventions in Punjab and the media coverage our channels are giving them. I am also annoyed with Punjabies who went to these conventions. Is there no one in this country who can stop these terrorists. """

In my opinion Imran Khan is not a politician, he is still trying to face the political parties they are rejected by people of Pakistan, the politics of agitation is over now, people needs peace and rest, build Pakistan and don't only say "We will not accept", "we will not accept that", Imran khan is still running behind the rejected politicians, in my opinion PTI should start work with MQM, they are progressive and also want positive change in Pakistan, their leader met PTI office barriers in Karachi, I think chairman PTI should also give a positive reply to them. 15. MQM can not achieve the target to enter in Punjab.
until or unless it clears ,its balance with Urdu speaking community of Karachi.
they have given Votes ,confidence ,Assembly seats ,power to talk on behalf of the biggest city ,their young boys ...
    and what Karacities got in return;
    politics of hatred ?
dead bodies of their young boys ?
a label of a follower of the terrorist party ?
mayhem and in result poor economy ?
hatred with Pathans and Punjbais ?

they have to clear their balance with their existing and EX voters ,before they even think of moving ahead .

    >>>

MQM has already entered in Punjab's politics by organising workers' conventions in three cities of Punjab at the same time !!!
I think MQM will give a tough time to PPP and N-League in South Punjab, however, I don't think MQM will be able to challenge N-League and PPP in Pindi, Lahore or Faisalabad !!!!

  19. if u dont have any answer ,please do not try to answer.

why MQM is not clearing its balance with Karachties before aiming for Punjab?

    no answer as yet .............
    alas .

BTW,doing a convention by collecting & importing ppl from Karachi is no test .....test would be next elections in Punjab .

I just refuted your wrong statement i.e. """MQM can not achieve the target to enter in Punjab.""" as fact of the matter is "MQM has already entered in Punjab's politics by organising workers' conventions in three cities of Punjab at the same time "!!!

  21. @Lal Bichoo ,
u have a bad habit of taking things literally .
"MQM can not enter into Punjab" means definitely not psychical entry ,but the entry in the assembly through votes of Punjabis .
