Idea of a revival of Multan is very old but Mr Taj Muhammad Langah after gaining some popularity for his famous election in 1970 gave it name of Saraiki Province. He made his own Saraiki Party. This idea could not get popularity due to many reasons. The people of the area were not in favour of language- or ethnicity-based province and there was a large number of the people in the area who's mother tongue was not Saraiki. His proposal of Saraiki Wasaib also includes Bahawalpur and some areas of K.P.
People of Bahawalpur call themselves 'Riasty' and they like Bahawalpur as a separate province.It is also very hard to include area of KP and in this case they need approval of two provincial assemblies which is next to impossible. So the idea of a Saraiki Wasaib was based only on ethnicity-base with no cultural ,traditional and historical reasons.
The proposal is given a name of South Punjab by PML Q leaders to keep happy the powerful people of central Punjab. But this name has no public support. Multan is an old state or province with a history of more than one thousands year with rich cultural heritage and social values. The name Multan Province will be a cause to strengthen Pakistan.

Provinces MUST NOT be divided on the bases of language. Therefore NO to Saraiki province

I agree with you, Mew provinces of Multan, Hazarah and Bahawapur are regional and traditional bases with their rich historical heritage and those could be a cause to strengthen Pakistan.

I like Multan province better than Siraiki province.

I am against division after division and especially without any logical reason for division.
I am though willing to support any further division of provinces in Pakistan, provided the objectives to beacheived through such divisions are realistic and are shared with the nation. Moreover I am interested in knowing how these objectives will be achieved and who will be responsible for achieving these objectives.
Rights and responsibilities can be assigned and delievered fairly regardless if there is one big province or 20 small. Similarly if we dont have fairness, even having 20 small provicnes will achieve nothing. Balochistan is one small province and what development has taken place there in last 64 years and what development Multan or Saraiki province will achieve if we dont know what has to be acheived, how and who will be responsible.
I dont want this to be another political slogan to win seats and elections and afetr elections the masses of the new provinces continue through the same suffering.

This is no way a division of Pakistan. This is a help for good administration.All three new proposed provinces Multan , Hazarah and Bahawalpur are strong hold of Pro Pakistan population.These are not based on bases of hate or ethnicity .

Dear all
The name Saraiki province does not represents ethnicity,ofparticular people, Sariki is one one of dilect of Sindhi
laguage.language spoken along sindhu river side geographically
termed as Sindhi language by persians and Arabs.
Lets start from Ran of kuchh the language spoken there is
katchi ( sindh dilect) in thatta the there is Lari or Ladiwhere as in center of Sindh province sindhi languages
termed as "wicholi" while from upper sindh upto DeraIsmail
khan the sindhi languages is termed as Saraiki.
during Raja Dahir's era there Sindh was quite large boundries i.e upto Kashmir.
One can not identify between Sindhi and saraiki if worn same dress.

I agree with you but Multan is more historical name and shows no ethnicity. It is a need of time to create new provinces for better administration.

I am amazed that people do not realize survival of Pakistan is at stake and they are talking about their selfish views of creating new provinces.
Where are wise people?

You are right about the condition of Pakistan.
I don't belong to Multan , Bahawalpur or Hazara.
I am from central Punjab.
We have to offer some thing to our people.
We have to show them that we care about your wishes.
We can do perhaps nothing through internet but we can send them our message that we love you and we are worried about you.
I can show you an example from me.

Survival of Pakistan is dependent on creation of more administrative units and abolition of current ungovernable provinces.
I am all for Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Makran, Sukkur etc. provinces.
Posted 11 months ago on 04 Jun 2011 21:44 # -
It works on the demand of public.
Only people from Hazara,Bahawalpur and Multan are demanding new provinces so we shall care for the wish of the people.
Hope to see more demands after success of these people.Posted 11 months ago on 04 Jun 2011 21:53 # -
I've seen and read demands of Pothohar province, Dera Ismail Khan province, Chitral province etc. plenty of times.
In order to mitigate such ethnic frictions, it is important that all administrative divisions are turned into provinces. This would result in local empowerment and would also reduce ethnic differences.

It would be ideal if this is done before the next elections, otherwise this issue would be abundantly exploited and used to create grieviances between people of central Punjab and south Punjab. Whether there should be a unified seraiki province or Multan and Bahawalpur separately should be decided in a referendum. However, the current provincial government has made it loud and clear that South Punjab is not on it's agenda of development. The budget allocations for south as opposedto central and north are shamefully disproportionate. So let's get this done with before we the demand for a province turns into demand for a country.

People of Bahawalpur are struggling since decades for the status of a province, So it is not good to see them struggling any more.Their case is very strong on all ethical grounds and it is very shameful to see that how bureaucracy swallowed a province of Pakistan by using a drunk general (Yahya Khan).

Either name will do; we need new provinces throughout Pakistan.
Let's begin with South Punjab and then form more Provinces to other areas.
Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 9:51 # -
You are right. The new provinces are a need of time but most of our leaders are afraid of Takht e Lahore mentality.
Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 12:56 # -
@Anwer Kamal
Our leaders are coward and opportunist and this Takht e Lahore mentality is also a reason for not forming more Provinces in Punjab.
Karachi should also become a new Province, same with Hazara and Bhawalpur and other areas too.
It is time to change obsolete mentality.
Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 13:01 # -
It is very surprising. No party or group from Karachi demands for a province.
Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 13:07 # -
@Anwer Kamal
You are right!
MQM's silence over not demanding new province is purely opportunistic and besharami of highest degree. Small parties like MQM (after 1992 operation) have become too careful and they act only as an Establishment's party. In simple words, no more panga with Establishment, no more new demands of ending quota system or new province. MQM will always be the part of any Govt under the auspices of Establishment and this is the policy of today's MQM as well as future's MQM.

@Anwer Sahab
No party? How many parties are there sincere for Karachi's cause? JUI group considered itself back in 70s or so but they were there securing halwas and mosques. Jamaat-e-Islami kept its tail between the legs after being sacked from the Karachi Metropolitan. PPP, it is a party of anti Karachi despised Karachi of being progressive and non-Sindhi culture and pillaged at every opportunity it found whether it is 72 or 95. Muslim League is a spineless junk; no good for anything. So tell me what other parties you are talking about?Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 14:01 # -
Actually it is natural resources of Sindh . Surplus agricultural production,53% of natural gas of Pakistan and and great and fine quantity of coal beside other items. So they can not think about any other option.
Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 14:01 # -
As you have mentioned all that, what Sindh minus Karachi's contribution ratio in GDP and how much do they contribute to total Pakistan's revenue. FYI, That tiny 0.4% area of Pakistan called Karachi's GDP is 20% where as a whole sagging and lagging Sindh produces a meagre slightly over 9% of GDP. Karachi is responsible for Pakistan's livelihood and well being by providing a little less than 70% of the total Pakistan's revenue where others are trying to bloodsucking dry Pakistan. Definitely there is no justice or is there.

You are right about GDP.
Reasons of this GDP are know as main port city of Pakistan and reproduction of the natural products.
Karachi is hub of Pakistan and it should grow more.
Nothing to be angry as we love Karachi and people of Karachi and hate killers from anywhere.Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 14:38 # -
@wazirabadi
We are not talking about 'watan'.
It is simple demand of a province Multan .
There were provinces and governors in Islam from day -1Posted 11 months ago on 05 Jun 2011 14:42 # -
I am not upset but you have posed some questions needed soul searching. I am in favour of building megapolitans from Port Qasim to Makran to further strengthening Pakistan's economy that will eliminate a lot a problem related to concentration. Though I am sidetracking, but you are spot on on the reasons for its GDP. It is definitely the goods processing and service economy's contribution as opposed to primary industries such as agriculture and mining retain miniscule monetary value.

Through our Pakistan , two adjacent Divisions combined , be given a status of one province in the beginning.
It will eradicate all ethnic, regional and provincial conflicts.
