@Quaidkamazaar....don't worry Karachi will never become like Bombay because Karachi has the natural outlets of expansions from three directions.....even the fourth direction has the potential of linkage with Manorah Island......I only wish peace & trnaquility returns to Karachi so as it continues progressing.....

Manorah has a great potential for being transformed into a great tourists' attraction and if a ferry service of world standard could be initiated Karachi will boost its attraction, not to mention million jobs that will be created along the line......

Once again, I too request all to keep the negativity or political point scoring away from this thread.....Karachi got it all, however big or small!!!

    اللہ
ہم پر اپنا کرم فرما ہمیں نفرت اور تعصب کی آگ سے دور کر دے
پاکستان کے سب شہروں خصوصاً کراچی کو امن اور سکوں کا گہوارہ بنا دے

i am agree with you and we all Ask Allah to save our country, but we need to have equal oppertunity but here we have one sided oppertunity, where you live in your home ,you are deprived to work in your home and people from out side forcefully or under strategic plan or by conspiracy they put on into your home and they kicked you out to not look after your home by your self.
if every one who looks after thier homes themself then no doubt we will be as united nation.

63 years passed still powers are one sided, might is right policy in our country will not lead to success.

they have put some terrorist group to look after karachi and they have given them facilites to protect them and share collected money from every home in karachi together.

this is conspiracy agaisnt paksitani poor people and mostly they have theme to degrad karachi and do'nt accept that karachi is not generating 75% revanue.

still every one is sleeping and we are under threats by establishments friends and partners whose purpose to eat all from karachi and put local people in the corner.....

Boris may be the local products of Karachi but the bullets are not. Bullets are gifts from other parts of Pakistan. There is not a single factory of guns/bullets manufacturing in Karachi.

Dawn Group of Newspapers has a very good collections of old time photos of Karachi. They display these photos in the half-yearly Lifestyle Exhibitions of Karachi.

    @Sultan
I think Karachi is becoming Bombay slowly by slowly.

There is no planning as to how this city will grow, it will cramp up, it is bound to. There is no control of influx of people in the city either as everyday so many come. There is no security being provided to people of Karachi making it even more like Bombay with politically motivated target killings. Robbers are being caught on camera doing bank roberry all the time but absolutely nothing is being done about it!

I think the shear population density growth is making it like Mumbai, there is a limit to even how much a megacity can grow areawise. I keep repeating, more cities need to spring up in Pakistan, only one state of India has so many cities, we should grow city centers like that as well.

@Quaidkamazaar......what you have written on Karachi becoming Bombay holds water.....but in my view it will take Karachi no less than 50 years to become as clogged as Bombay because we still have plenty of miles to go to tie up with Hyderabad on one side, Thatta on the other and Somiani on its southern flank....long way to go.....

Still, I completely agree with you that someone has got to do some hard planning now to keep Karachi's growth organized and within desired spread....we have all seen how beneficial Mayorship of Karachi had been, first by Naimat Ullah and then by Mustafa Kamal....both done wonders with Karachi's development....so first step should be to bring Mayorship back and let people at the grassroot level carry out development work...

Karachi should be given its due share of development and there got to be some ways that would effectively reduce if not completely stop human inflow into Karachi...this does not necessarily mean that laws should be made whereby Pakistanis are banned from entering Karachi....no, i mean other cities of Pakistan should also be developmed and job opportunities created so as people are attracted to others cities and influx of people toward urban area is equally distributed....something on those lines.....

At the time of independence of Pakistan, Karachi was such a small city that there was no large sized mosque to arrange prayers for any Muslim VVIP guest. Liaquat Ali Khan advised Hashim Reza to build a large sized mosque, so Memom Masjid of Boultan Market was built. It is one of the architectural wonders of the city.
