Isnt there any probability for PML(N) to win? What if PML(N) gets most of JI votes.?

PPP and PMLN have done seat adjustment here.
PMLN canidate saleem zia has withdran in favor of PPP candidate on NA-250 whereas PPP candidate has withdran in favor of saleem zia of PMLN on provincial assembly seat.

at least, now they can give a tough fight to MQM and probably win this seat.

    @GM, hahaha, i think u havn't been to khi,
karachi political dynamics r totally changed from rest of the country.
here even if an addicted, illiterate thug is being supported by Altaf bhai( the don), he is gonna win, let alone the lady of the stature of khushbakht.
no chance 4 anyone here except MQM.

    @ Adeelaub

i think its u who is unaware of facts

from this seat, MQM lost the seat to MMA even when PPP and PMLn were also contesting.
If u combine votes of PPP and PMLN also, then these were more than double the votes of MQM.

Also in 1997 and 1993, MQM lost this seat.

this myth that MQM is popular in all karachi is totally false. u need to check the facts and figures first.
there are only 5-6 seats where MQM is strong, on all other seats, MQM can not win if a join opposition candidate is there, jsut check the 2002 election results and u will know better. and that too ws before impact of 12 may killings.

one more thing in 2002, MQM got about 600000 votes in karachi (20 seats) where as oppositition votes were 825000. U can confirm from election commission website urself.
Now is time when we shud talk based on FACTS and only FACTS.thanks

I want that dinner too, please send me ticket from canada to pakistan, As GM is right, MMA votes will go to PML(N) or PPP they can not vote for MQM. If jamat will not come out then there is little chance for DON but will be tight contest

'I think PPL are fed up with these Nawaz n Benazir's corrupt policy but I am surprised people are still favouring them here so wht u can expect from MQM n Karachi nothing will change i KHI as well. The biggest problem for Pakistan is feudalism and corrupt Generals not MQM, PPP or N grp, these guys always play with the system. Now a days MQM is coming as a BIG coalition party in the govt inspite of the allegations of terrorist activities against them. I am not hoping any change in Pakistan in this election as well but i pray to GOD that May Allah keep us away from these corrupt leaders like Benazir n Nawaz and protect Pakistan from malefic eyes. MQM seems to be dominating karachi mostly due to its ghunda tactics. This is not to say that it does not have popular support. But it does not have the overwhelming support as people outside karachi believe it to have.

It is the biggest party in karachi but as GM pointed out, its electoral success is also dependent on division among its opponents.

wat ever the reason is but MQM is securely placed for this seat.

Adeelayub is right problem for karachihites is they really dont have any choice as they dont want to trust jamat-e-islami second popular party in karachi anymore as they were popular till early 80's and always ignr problems in karachi even they were very good allies of another dictator Zia ul haq.
i had some hope with imran khan but as he is not contesting the election MQM definatly win there these are ground realities as i lived in karachi even without there ghunda gardi.

    @ GM
may b you are not from karachi so u do not know MQM is only weak in two seats in karachi NA 239 And NA 248 which is strong hold of ppp exept these only 2 3 seats have good competition othewise MQM will clean sweep there because situation is changed now as ji is not taking part and any colition witout ji can not work out against MQM i know ji peoples they do not go out to poll their votes for any one.

I im also not pro MQM so plz dont be emotional these are facts there which i have been obseving last 15 years.

Well Adeel u have ur own point of view but i am talking abt a fact that Benazir & Nawaz are the two most corrupt politicians, with MQM man i have voted for Imran's party in the last election but i know that still MQM will win the election with vast majority, but let me tell u one thing in the last election i was surprised to hear that Jammat gave a very tough time to MQM in my polling booth whtever the name is, but the fact is MQM is still in majority in KHI and i totally disagree with Imran's statement that MQM alwayz win the election on the basis of terrorist activities i think he or whoever says that has no idea abt ground reality in KHI. KHi is a city not feudal village so u can stand with a gun and u can ask every one to give ur vote to MQM, man this is KHI so don't talk goosey. Points on which i favour MQM in KHI is their voice for provincial atonomy and end of Feudalism in Pakistan. I am sure people from Punjab are the most victimized people from this wadaira system. I am not expecting any change in Pakistan but i want to see Musharraf to continue for few more years as though he is holding his seat with his power in an unlawful way but he is not a thug, not a corrupt man and no one can say that he is against Pakistan yes he is against some democratic and corrupt people like Benazir n Nawaz Sharif but this is good for my country and for that i salute him!!!

    Posted 8 years ago on 27 Dec 2007 5:16 #
  21. well i am also predicting this seat to be a solid MQM, JI voters would have voted for PML-N but just because PML-N withdrew in favor of PPP does not mean the JI voters will vote for PPP guy to defeat MQM, they would probably vote in the provincial seat and PML-N might take it but the NA seat will go to MQMQ ( and no i am not a pro-Mush guy so please stop accusing me :)

For those people who think that JI has got any vote bank , its a baseless assumption. JI/MMA was made to win in NWFP and some parts of KHI to punish the nationlist / liberal forces so that the monster of Mullaism can be used to make west afraid.

Some gentleman might quote Naimat Ullah Khan mayor ship or Abdul sattar afghani's mayor ship. Gentleman on both these occasions mainstream parties of Karachi were not in the contest.

In 1970 , there were 6 seats of khi out of which JI won only 2. After than first time they won a seat in 1993 when mqm bycotted. Even then 6 seats went to PPP , 6 to pml (n) .

This particular seat consists of defence / cliftion area along with some katchi abadis like neelam colony which might prove to be a vote centre for PPP specially after Benazir's demise and PLM(N) alliance with PPP. But still i think mqm is going to win .
    Lets see.

Why JI lost popular support in KHI in 80's

    ans: 1) MQM muhajir card
    2) JI's blunder in supporting Zia the Dictator

Soon there will be time when MQM will loose popular support in KHI.

People of KHI are too smart to see what MQM is doing with Democracy when it is supporting MUSH Dictatorship.

    Yaqub Bahi,

JI got 8 years of karachi mayor ship (abdul sattar afghani) from 79 to 86 and becaz of its non-performance and dictatorship support , it was wiped out.

JI aslo supported msuh and got karacchi mayour ship in 2001 and then got nwfp govt.

Yes Mqm will suffer due to supporting dictatorship but probably they were left with no options after the 2002 elections.

While I appreciate what Mustafa Kamal (of MQM) did for Karachi, I will not vote for MQM as it is an ethnic/terrorist organization. It is violent and its leader is scared of returning to Pakistan.

The only alternative is the PPP (lesser of the evil theory). I feel MQM will lose from this constituency, though they will sweep Karachi as before.

Karachites always fall for the ethnic card. How unfortunate.

Well it will be a tough contest bcoz PML-N & PPP has a seat adjustmemt but as the per the ground reality MQM gonna win this seat ,check the results of last bye-election on this seat. In bye-election MQM compain was run by all famous actors like One and only Omar Sharif etc. Also Khush Bukht Shujaat a well now media person and Karachi chammer of commerce persons from defence & clifton also supporting MQM. One more fact in 2002 JI was in City Govt, so that had the edge of their development work as well as registration of fake voters...(this all parties do whoever in power) now MQM has the edge, So this seat will go to MQM

mqm is popular mostly in uneducated areas of khi,and ji and jup more popular in educated areas, last time from this seat mma wins n this time after the boycott of JI,and also pti whose candidate got 3000 votes and the saet adjustment btween ppp and pmln there is a chance the mirza of ppp might wins, but as i am a pmln supporter pmln for sure will win ps123 with the help of right wing vote of pti and mma which is 24000 according to last elections. For Na 250 there will be very tough compedition. let see who wins

Well i never be a voter for MQM, if u r from Karachi u should know the fact that the literacy rate in Karachi Central District is highest among all district of Karachi......and MQM is very much popular in Central saying they are popular in uneducated is not right moreover same for other areas of Karachi. On both PS-113(PS-123 is not the corresponding provisional seat for NA-250 , its PS-113) & NA-250 if PTI & JI supporters cast their votes to PML-N & PPP candidates, then there might be a tough contest otherwise not much hope for MQM rivals.

MQM has lost this seat in previous elections. By-elections was a different story as most people didnt even vote.

Celebrities do not attract votes, otherwise Imran Khan would be PM now. People like Shafi Mohammad Shah, Filmstar Kamal, and others have lost before too.

If MQM wins in this seat, it wont be because of Khusbakht will be because of Mustafa Kamal.

Anyway, i will vote for Ikhtiar Baig, not because i like him or beleive in PPP propoganda, but because I have had enough of the PML(Q)/MQM/Musharraf era. We want CHANGE.

    Posted 8 years ago on 26 Jan 2008 10:14 #

lol , oh yeah u want the change for off......otherwise he belongs to party which have long history of propagating and introducing dynasty in the democracy ......Currently their most candidates from feudal, industrialist and from rich u believe any change from them?? Ikhtir Baig , bro of a senator.... same family politician...why not PPP give ticket to common worker.....

    Posted 8 years ago on 26 Jan 2008 10:59 #

I agree with you regarding PPP being a dynastic party. I dont believe in PPP policies and I dont support the PPP one bit.

However, the alternative is MQM which is a terrorist/fascist party. They support a military dictator who doesnt want to leave power at any cost. Where is the Q league PM, Shaukat Aziz? He came to Pakistan in 1999 to rule and when his rule was over, left the country.

Regarding MQM giving tickets to common worker, how long has Khushbakht shujaat worked for MQM? Was she an elected councilor for MQM, or a Nazim, or a MPA? She came from nowhere and that tells us how the don in london works.

My vote for PPP is not an idealistic vote, but a vote for CHANGE from MQM domination.

your hats off to the people of clifton?

Is character assassination of these candidates the best you can do my friend in posting your highly intellectual comment? Calling a politician corrupt, hmm.. lets see where I’ve heard that before? A comment like this is would expected from an illiterate driver or cook.

Listen friends, that’s just ignorant value judgment, these are allegations that have never been proven in the court of law, however, I feel that these two people are the best choice for candidates because they are smart, educated and have dedicated their lives to a cause compared to the uneducated feudal lords who have been coming into power in the past.
we\'ve tried the jahil politicians, maybe these highly educated people will be better? Who isn\'t corrupt these days? Everyone steals when they’re in power, but what I feel it comes down to is who at least gives back to the people.
I feel both these candidates have international exposure, which is think is a good tool for any Pakistani politican especially at a time where extremism runs high and when international Pakistani opinion is one of a terrorist state.

Well as per the 2002, MMA won with very narrow PPP and PMLN dont get much votes....on top of this JI boycotting the elections , its most likely JI voters will not vote. Moreover if u see the result bye-election on this seat MQM had won with heavy i think Khush Bakht Shujaat will won....... In which constituency u r located?
