This seat was won by PML-N last time in 2008 but this time it is a sure short PTI or PPP seat.

Zumarad Khan got beat by more than 25,000 votes in this constituency back in 2008. He probably is gonna get beat again by at least double that margin. As for Pakistan Facebook party, have they decided to contest the elections?

I thought it is Rawalpindi, but if it is behind the white house, than sure PTI will be winner with big majority.

    Munshi Ji,

Even if it is right in front of the White House at Washington Monument, PTI will still triumph with a massive majority.

PPP is dead here. Most of its voters will vote for PTI. Still, PML-N is in quite a good position and should be able to retain this seat by upwards of 20K votes.

PTI does not have any 'electable' here and will be fully dependent on PPP and Q league votes.

i am currently living here..Zumurud VS Malik Ibrar VS Raja Basharat vs Zahid Kazmi or Ijaz Ul Haqq...

Three time ijazull haq won...last time PML-Q given ticket to Raja basharat(bro in law of ch shujat and kabza mafia head for malik riaz)...one time zumurud khan won...

if Ijazull haq goes with PTI...it will be very strong contest between 3... but if PTI goes with Zahid kazmi(x pti punjab president and one of among those who were with pti when only 10 left)
here bassically Lal mosque lovers lives...Masjid siddique e akbar...They are very close to Raja Zafrull haq and Ijaz ull haq... Being shia they will not support Zahid kazmi..nobody knowa zahid kazmi here..he lives next house to mine...

Malik ibrar was a conseler...there was no big guns availble in NA-54 for PML-N..neither had workers... but Peoples voted for Nawaz shareef only... and nobody voted for malik ibrar..from pp 10..shahbaz was candidate in bye election after won by Malik ibrar and he left for national assembly...
PML-N has done remarkable works here..school colleges, roads, flyover and also established party here...Zumurud also did allot as zakat chairman...and he is also very nice and clean person... so its again very close contest...

Ijazul Haq has left rawalpindi for good and now contests from Bahawalnagar. He is not a factor here anymore.

Zamurd khan has been Chairman Bait ul Mal and there will be some questions about his eligibility if his position is considered a government job.

PTI still has no final candidate here with Ch Asghar, Zahid Kazmi and Shahid Gillani being main contenders. In any case PTI is not a significant factor.

Similar is the case of Q league and Raja Basharat will be lucky to get even 15 thousand votes.

If PMLN gives ticket to Malik Abrar again, his brother will not be given the ticket for underlying provincial assembly seat.

    Posted 2 months ago on 24 Mar 2013 8:38 #
  25. Engr Satti

FYI...Malik ibrar and his brother both are given ticket...zahid kazmi and ijaz ull haqq is under consideration.. Ijaz ull haq is suerly a good one coz of his affiliation and vote bank among ulema e dyuo band as well as in Barelvi's,chudhry's of choor harpal...raja's of westridge, and his affiliation with army generals...he carries 30k..his own vote bank here..i am 100% sure if IK didnt given ticket to zahid kazmi..its going to be tough ask for PML-N..i am PML-N Worker from same area since last ten years... Ijazull haq has great roots among Elite of westridge as well as locals...but After Hafiz hussain ahmed joining PML-N would certainly favours PML-N..moreover If nawaz himself did jalsa here...than only PML-N will win...zumurud already resigned.....he already having corner meetings.. jor tor has begun...last efect would be only Nawaz's jalsa here...coz RWP is only PML-N'S House and safe heaven...Peoples just love nawaz shareef..even IK cant make any progresss among youth or Ladies...

No matter whom PML(N) gives ticket this is a stronghold of PML(N) and this is a Rawalpindi Cantt. (urban) seat so don't even think of these people will give vote to PPP+PML(Q) after such a pooooooooooooor performance. PTI if put upfront a strong candidate may be in race but candidate is unknown so hard to say anything on them.

  27. Adonis

Ijazull Haq is under consideration? By whom?

Ijaz is not in PMLn or PTI or any other party. He heads his own PML-Zia. So he'll give ticket to himself rather than being considered by any other party.

There is no way Ijaz has 30 thousand votes in this constituency. The last time he contested here in 2002 he got a net total of about 4 thousand votes. It was after this humiliation that he decided to contest from Bahawalnagar only.

Not many in the constituency know Zahid Kazmi of PTI. His best electoral performance in the history has been 564 votes. PTI would do well to give someone like Shahid Gillani a ticket from here, who with support of JI will pull good votes but no way near enough to beat PMLN.

Ijaz ul Haq is in PML(N) or in alliance with PML(N) but he may not be a candidate from here as he will be from Khanewal.

if u say that where the vote for Ijazull haqq gone? i told already there is influence of ijazull haqq and zafrull haq..both.. in 2002 ...Masjid siddique e akbar voted for Zafrull haque and religious vote gone in favour ... but Ijazull haqq is next... coz zafrull haqq will not contest from here...but its PML-N Seat for sure if nawaz does one jalsa here in NA-54...

    Posted 2 months ago on 24 Mar 2013 9:30 #
  31. Adonis

The influence is PMLN's influence not the personal influence of Zafrul Haq or Ijazul Haq.

Raja Zafrul Haq does not live in the area and has never contested from here except for 2002 when he was forced to contest as PMLN did not have any candidate.

The votes he got in 2002 were all PMLN votes as religious votes went to MMA candidate.

  32. Engr Satti

Raja Zafrul haq...is chairman of PML-N since 1999...He is back bone of PML-N..he is life time president of Motmer alim islami..and He has svere influece in Rawalpindi Region and he has his own vote bank as well...He was the one among those who put a name of Mian nawaz shareef instead of junejo...so dont call him a small candidate..a few People like him made PML-N a very strong party..whereever a conflict appears or PML-N has to talk with opponents like PML-Q.PPP.MQM...He is the one who initiates and every party respects him allot.
if you knew Molana lal mosque or molana rasheed of Siddiq e akbar...they never supported MMA ,JI or JUI...they support PML-N candidate always...see above chart..almost all candidates are religious... EXCEPT Zumurud..

  33. Adonis

I never said that Raja Zafrul Haq is a small candidate. His services for PMLN are exemplary. But the fact is that his personal vote bank is in NA 50 not in NA 54.

By the way there is no such thing as Molana lal mosque.

If any Molana had any significant vote bank in NA 54, it used to be Riaz Hussain Shah who at the height of his popularity got 38 thousand votes. There is no other molvi who in his personal capacity can get even 10 thousand votes.

You really need to brush up your knowledge about NA 54.

    @Adonis bahi

Remembering Syed Riaz Hussain Shah who never won election but got decent votes perhaps one or two times shows you know NA 54 very well. I was there when Moulana Riaz Shah got that many votes.

I think PMLN will give ticket to Ch. Tanveer, or I 'd say they should. Because of degree concerns they couldn't in 2008 but as far as I know from Pindi Ch. Tanveer stood most firm with Sharifs when Mushraaf intervened. Nawaz Sharif is known to remember both firends and foes.

I am not sure who PTI's candidate will be but any unknown middle class educated guy can do wonders here. Part of this constituency is rural but rest is Pindi Cantt - highly educated military retirees. They used to vote for Ejaz ul Haq but this time everyone I talk to seems to be impressed by Imran Khan. I won't be surprised if PTI wins the seat but it 'd require, momentum, good candidate and professional campaign similar to one ran by Syed Riaz Hussain Shah.

  35. Adonis

    @ shirazi

Ch Tanveer's nephew was given MPA ticket because as you have pointed out he could not contest himself. This time he himself is likely to contest and may get either an MNA or MPA ticket.

PTI's problem is that it does not have a prominent middle class educated candidate in this constituency. Its potential candidates are known locally as loan sharks and qabza group. PTI may end up supporting JI on this seat.

Not just Imran Khan, but also from Nawaz Sharif, Musharaaf, Zardari --- they all are their for their extra ordinary talent else we 'd see many bloggers from this forum at helm. But they are humans and make mistakes like everyone else. I respect them but don't worship them.

    @adonis...

Raja zafrull haq is from kahuta my home town but he has very big influence in rwp politics with strong relations with bashi khan, awan group, malik's and kashmiri families..
i myself did campaign last time and there are few peoples in rwp who hold the authority in city Plus PML-N's immense support due to nawaz's work in every area...

@ satti, don't want to hurt you brother but you have no idea whatsoever about this Constituency and your last message really shocked me, Raja Zafarulhaq don't need third class people like Bashi Khan, i don't know which election compaign you are referring, in 2008 Bashi khan's son Zohaib Khan was contesting from Q League and lost badly against shehryar Riaz Mpa ( pmln )and i have no idea about Awan Group and Kasmiris you meant !!!...
I don't need any information from Internet to discuss Na 54.

Na 54,55,56 are typical Pmln constituencies, only pmln Ticket matters here.

1985 elections Raja shahid zafar won this seat against basharat raja, at that time nawaz sharif factor was not there...remember one thing basharat raja and ch tanvir were always against each other till today because of Chairman distric council seat, basharat Raja and ch afzal brother of ch tanvir both were Chairman district council rawalpindi, so ch group supported Raja shahid zafar.
1988 Riaz hussain shah factor was there rightly said by Adonis, Raja Shahid Zafar won again.
Then Ijaz ul haq won this seat three times on pmln ticket.

2002 elections Raja zafarulhaq Sahib was our candidate but 3 days before elections he told us personally that Musharraf has decided in GHQ meeting that he don't want to see Raja Sahib and Ch Nisar in Parliament, they totally changed Ch Nisar's constituency and divided his stronghold areas in two constituencies but Ch Sahib still manage to win one seat under Musharraf,Raja Sahib lost that election.
Ch Tanvir was convicted in that famous SC Attack case, so he can't contest election or hold any Public office, 2008 elections Malik Abrar was our candidate and he won queit comfortably, pmln did't loose even single polling station in 2008.
I can write whole book on pindi politics, i know almost all politicians....
