What I can say is that Shahbaz Sharif starts work from 7 Morning till late (12 at night) night .. He is real hard working, honest and great person.

Baki siasat apni jagah... lakin aik banda subah 7 bajay say raat 12 bajay tak koam ki khidmat liay dour baagh kerta ha.. us per kham-kha ilzam lagana aur kichar uchalna kahan ka insaf ha..

Yes, really "hard working", but only to increase his family's business empire. Bring the "hard earned" money out of Pakistan and then (sometimes) bring it back to Pakistan TAX-FREE. The laws are tailor made for their corruption. Sometimes this hard works has a big toll....The media is claiming that he demolish their equipment ;)

Atleast there is someone who can refuse to americans..unlike many others who would do anything to meet them in the presence of chief ff secret service, i remember back in 1998, when Pakistan conducted nuclear tests, on one of the phone call, NS refused to talk to Clinton... and later due to misadventure of the Army, the same NS was forced to go to Washington and beg the life of the soldiers of Pakistan who were in Kargil, thanks to Gen Mushy

It's not about refusing to meet somebody. It's about what you tell them behind closed doors and what you tell your own people. There has been a contradiction on that matter for both parties of status quo. Behind closed doors they make deals with their masters, and outside they make big postures to show their own people how "loyal" they are towards Pakistan. When slaves run a country the output can only be disastrous. We reject both PPP and PML-N........NO MORE **** now! We want a change -no matter what you say or what you do!

@Scandinavian , you are right , they are ready for independent investigation that is why PMLN asked Imran KHan to go to court.. No its upto ImranKhan, as he claims he has proof against PMLN then why not go to court and proof PMLN wrong.

That will be MUCH MORE productive for Pakistani nation right?

Now you ask yourself please ; why Imran Khan is not going to court against PMLN if he has got any proof?

New WikiLeaks cable revealed that the PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif wanted the US government to provide him personal security. However he was advised by the US embassy that besides being illegal it would be politically incorrect to do such a thing.
The WikiLeaks cable (reference no. 136305), which was released on 4 January 2008, revealed that the Resident Security Officer (RSO) of the US Embassy in Islamabad met three representatives of Nawaz Sharif to discuss his security.
According to the cable, Sharif’s representatives were told that US government security would violate several considerations.
They were advised that an indigenous security operation would be preferable for cultural understanding, political awareness, and even geographical familiarity reasons.
The RSO began by explaining the various reasons why American (or other foreign) security would be the wrong choice to make. First, legally and without appropriate guidelines, official USG security would violate several considerations. Second, hired professional commercial American security would not only complicate the anti-American politics already in play, but would create a higher target profile for the Protectee, rather than reducing it. And third, that in a foreign country, an indigenous security operation would be preferable for cultural understanding, political awareness, and even geographical familiarity reasons, providing the indigenous company is competent.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif broke a promise he had made with Saudi Arabia, when he returned to Pakistan in 2007.
According to a WikiLeaks cable release, the Saudi government had offered asylum and protection to Nawaz Sharif on the condition that he would not take part in political activity for ten years.
According to the cable, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States (US), Adel al-Jubeir, Sharif had ‘tested the limits of this promise five or six years in his exile’.
Jubeir goes on to say that the Saudis had allowed Sharif to travel to London and despite promising not to take part in political activities, he had flow from London to Pakistan. He says that the Saudi government had worked with Musharraf for the arrest and immediate deportation of Sharif when he returned.
In another cable, US Charge d’Affaires Michael Gfoeller noted that Nawaz Sharif was under the economic hold of the Saudis, as he had received a special economic development loan from the country.
Helping the Lashkars
A cable release alleges that the PML-N government in Punjab helped Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) ‘evade’ United Nations (UN) Sanctions right after the Mumbai 26/11 attacks.
President Asif Ali Zardari, speaking to former US Ambassador Anne Patterson, had alleged that Shahbaz Sharif had tipped off the LeT about UN sanctions, which gave the banned outfit a chance to empty its bank account before a raid or freeze. The cable goes on to say that President Zardari expressed his ‘frustration’ with the move.
The US diplomats were unable to confirm the allegation, but noted that they came at a time when
US diplomats were unable to confirm the allegation, but accepted the fact that information had been passed on, which was an indication of a surprisingly small amount of money in the bank accounts.

New WikiLeaks cables have revealed that the ISI had asked Saudi Arabia to stop funding Nawaz Sharif’s campaign in the last elections.
Former ISI chief Nadeem Taj told the Saudi Ambassador in a meeting that the aid violated Pakistan’s agreement with the Saudis on Nawaz’s return from exile.
The cable, which was filed by former ambassador Anne Patterson, reads:
Aziz expressed great concern to Ambassador about a possible PPP-Nawaz alliance. Aziz claimed the Saudis were heavily funding Sharif’s campaign to ensure a PPP defeat and hedge their bets against Musharraf. Taj called the Saudi Ambassador and requested this stop, saying it violated the GOP’s agreement with the Saudis on Nawaz’s return from exile. Aziz observed that if the PML-N and the PPP formed a government, “What options would Musharraf have?”
Former National Security Advisor and Musharraf’s trusted aide Tariq Aziz also expressed great concern to the American Ambassador in this regard.
He told the American envoy that the Saudis were heavily funding Sharif’s campaign to ensure PPP’s defeat and hedge their bets against Musharraf.
The cable has also revealed that President Zardari had raised the idea of becoming Prime Minister with Tariq Aziz after the 2008 polls. But Aziz supported Amin Faheem.
Zardari complained that Faheem was a poor administrator who lacked the skills needed to run the government.

ISLAMABAD: A PML-N firebrand and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, on Tuesday admitted for the first time that his wife and children were US citizens, but criticised the Pakistani media for “unnecessarily playing it up” when in fact it was his personal matter.

The revelation about the family of the PML-N leader, who otherwise is perceived in political circles as one who is opposed to the American policies in the region, were part of a confidential US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks.

Visibly disturbed by media coverage of the issue, Chaudhry Nisar made serious attempts at a news conference to defend his family by stating that his wife was already holding dual nationality when he married her in late 1980s as his in-laws were settled in the US since 1970s.

The citizenship issue was disclosed in a secret cable sent by the then US Ambassador in Islamabad, Anne W. Patterson, to Washington after her meeting with him soon after becoming opposition leader three years ago. The US ambassador had stated that the PML-N leader had assured her that he and his party were “pro-American”.

“As always, Nisar insisted that he and the PML-N were pro-American (saying that his wife and children in fact are Americans),” said the cable sent to Washington on Sept 19, 2008.

According to the cable, “(Ch) Nisar did admit that he went to the US Embassy in London to renew his daughter’s passport because he wanted to avoid being seen at the US Embassy in Islamabad.”

It further stated: “Ch Nisar was cagier, noting that US attacks over the past few weeks hurt the hearts and minds campaign. He called for more transparency in the bilateral relationship and reserved the right to criticise US actions to remain politically credible.”

In her comments at the end of the cable, the ambassador wrote: “Nisar appears to be positioning himself to be a candidate for prime minister, if the Sharifs are disqualified in the upcoming battle with the PPP over control of the Punjab. Nisar is at heart a nationalist, and he will be an eloquent and formidable opposition leader. But he does recognise the need to stay in the good graces of the US, and we should invite him to Washington when an opportunity arises.”

Interestingly at the news conference, the PML-N leader said the contents of most of the WikiLeaks cables seemed to be true.

However, he said, these cables were based on the assessment and understanding of the diplomats which could be wrong.

Ch Nisar denied that he had ever visited the US Embassy in London in connection with the renewal of his daughter’s passport.

He said perhaps the ambassador had misunderstood what he had stated at that time. In fact, he said, there was no need for him to visit the US Embassy for renewal of his children’s passports as, according to him, this job was performed by his wife.

The PML-N leader said that he was feeling pain while discussing his family matters before the media as he always kept his family away from politics and official work. “I am a person who wants to live a private life,” he said, adding that he had been forced to come out with this explanation despite opposition by some of his party colleagues and friends because his “honesty and patriotism” were being questioned by some people through a malicious propaganda campaign using WikiLeaks cables.

“For me it is necessary that no one can raise finger at my self-respect and patriotism,” he said, adding that four generations of his family had worked for the country’s defence and gave blood to the motherland. “Therefore, it had become difficult for me to remain silent,” Ch Nisar told journalists.

Turning to more serious issues, perhaps to deflect the focus from his family’s American citizenship issue, Chaudhry Nisar claimed before the journalists that a high-level American delegation stated in talks with his party that Pakistan Army was involved in terrorism.

“They said not Gen Musharraf, your army is involved in terrorism,” the PML-N leader quoted US Senator John Kerry and now US vice-president Joe Biden as saying while speaking at a news conference he had called to respond to a WikiLeaks cable that disclosed the American citizenship of his wife and children.

Chaudhry Nisar said the offensive remark was made when he, at a meeting the US delegation had with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif immediately after the 2008 general election, protested the US support to a military dictator instead for the people of Pakistan. At this the Americans “flared up and hit the roof”. The then US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson had to intervene to prevent the situation from worsening.

Ch Nisar recalled a number of his meetings with visiting US officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, asserting that in each meeting he opposed the post-9/11 US policy towards Muslims and suggested that US withdraw from the region.

The PML-N leader clarified that he was not against the American nation, but was opposed to the US policy towards Muslims after the 9/11 attack.

Well what an act of supreme bravery eh! Refusing to see a foreign ambassador, that is equivalent to wrestling a tiger with your bare hands. When he Nawaz needed to be brave, he just packed his bags and got on a plane after signing a piece of paper promising to be a good boy.

I wonder if he is going to declare his assets and income tax liability properly? That would be a proper act of bravery.

And yes, Shabaz taking a ride in a bus with the media in tow to show Pakistan how hard he works. Please, don't treat people like idiots. It would be a different story if that is the way he came to work every day. The ex mayor of London used to use public transport to go to work and so does the present one. So lets cut the crap and look beyond you shite publicity pictures, done in poor taste and meaningless.

When I see crap like this, it makes me belief in change even stronger.

actually i met him few times, and trust me he work really hard and work for his nation, i can not say anything about Nawaz Shareef or Imran Khan or Zardari, because i never had any personal experience with those guys and i can not say what in there heart is, but i can say loud and clear that i saw Shahbaz Shareef working as CM of Punjab in his office and i saw him working for the poor and yelling on a senior punjab police officer who did not report him on a rape victim, even he work during his lunch hour.

That is an indication that Police system is up the creek! It is not the CM's job to go round giving personal instructions so that various individual cases can get proper attention and treatment. This is just a power trip that not just Shabaz but all other people in power get perverse pleasure from.

If the systems and institutions were working properly, a President, PM or a CM would not have to give any corrective orders.

Smell the stink of status quo! This exactly what needs to change. People should get insaf as a matter of routine not because of an order from the top. Every Pakistani deserves to live in dignity, without having to beg for justice or a living. This is what change is all about.

@stingingnettle: you know when our society will start develop, when one will ask his father, aaj kaay baad agar app iss ghar main haram aur rishwat kee kamaye say mujhay khalain gaay tou main khana peena choor doon gha , and when a policeman ask for licence than one should not suppose to say " maloom hay main kis kaa baiyta/bhanja/bhateeja/poota/nawasa hoon?
and the day our sister/mother/wife is secure on the road, without that spirit no one can do anything for us, chaye woh Imran hoo, Nawaz hoo yaah Zardari....we need to change ourself, we need to break our own status quo..staus quo hum logon kay andaar hay. its inside us...and we can not get any goal without spreading wealth at macro level.

He knows, if he makes this meeting, peoples of Pakistan going to rush his riwind Palace. ( Pakistan ke log jutay mar mar kar sar se naqali sher kee khal udair dain gay.)

My friend, you are not getting the point. The way forward is NOT only that SS goes on personal visits to different sites on motor bikes, helicopters and buses. What will make a difference is he ensure that institutions are working. There will always be individual cases which goes wrong, BUT IF the institutions are working decently then that a vast majority of people will get what they deserve and have the right to receive as citizens of Pakistan. To start yelling at certain officer will not make any significant change. Maybe that particular person will get some respite, but what about all the others where the CM doesn't get aware of their cases? As SN already has mentioned - It is NOT the job of the CM to make the espionage work. He must ensure institution building - otherwise he will ALWAYS make make tinkering.

What has he done for the people of Punjab? We have seen the worse governance in Punjab under the incompetent Shabaz Sharif. I really hate it when some person who has had personal affiliation with a ruler or has personally benefited from him comes and tells us how "great" the ruler is. (Don't misunderstand me, I am not using "benefit" in a negative way. But it reminds of a teacher of mine who recently started criticizing Imran Khan out of blue and later revealed he had taken medical care from Sharif medical complex!)

Back to the worse governance...we have had doctors, nurses, students, farmers on the street in this tenure. We have had students committing suicide.

What has he exactly done? Did he end corruption that takes place in every government department in Punjab? How can he when N-league beneficiaries are responsible for it.

Has he corrected the police system? The patwari system? Or is his epic achievement lie in actually using government resources and civil servants to conduct fake display of political power? Is it not corruption?

Shabaz Sharif must be the most pathetically incompetent leader in the world if what you say about him is true - that he's so hard working. If one delivers zilch after such hard work, one must be astronomically incompetent.

It is as simple as that. Whenever a some praises Shabaz Sharif to me (while many at the same time recognize the problem with PMLN), I cannot help but educate them about thsi SHOW-BAZ.

Sorry, but this sounds suspicious when comes from those who support either Peoples Party or N-league. Since their leaders have done nothing for the people, they have to use this dialogue to confuse the public.

In short, the system and governance can be changed by the government under a competent leader. The whole transformation of the society might take decades but good governance and systems can be implemented by a competent leader.

IN this way, Imran Khan can bring the much needed change, while others have miserably failed.

Whilst I see you are earnest in your response but I think you have missed the point I tried to make. By your reasoning, every thing has to get fixed automatically before Pakistan can start on the long road of progress and development.

Change, whether personal or National, cannot and does not happen as a matter of accident. There has to be a personal and communal drive to change the way we are and the way we interact with others. The 'day' you talk about will never come unless you and I get out there and demand change and make every physical effort to change the pathway of our future.

The realisation that we need to change ourselves can only happen once we are convinced that there is a different and better way of being. Status quo is not within us or without us, it's the verbose, self-referential, nostalgic crap we have grown up with and it is this same crap that the older generation cannot shake off. This is why Pakistan is looking to its youth for real and genuine change.
