Amidst all this current Afghanistan buzz, one important question arises? What will be the future of Afghanistan, and thus Pakistan. Pakistanis by heart do not want America to succeed in Afghanistan. If American do succeed, then they will keep blackmailing and probably Afghanistan will be more hostile towards Pakistan. There is a growing Indian influence in Afghanistan, even mentioned by General McChrystal, which is not a good thing for Pakistan. But Pakistan hasn't really offered any positive alternative for Afghans. In one hand, all western countries, and India are offering aid, and development to Afghans. They fought this war to liberate Afghan women, while Pakistan's alternative is Taliban. There defeat means Taliban victory, If I am an ordinary Afghan, I would go with the first choice. Therefore, Pakistan should come with other strategy instead of supporting Afghan Taliban.

the only alternative Pakistan can offer to Afghanistan is to expel the US/NATO forces from the region. the Afghanis are our brother that have an occupying force on their necks and if we do that, they will never forget us.

There is only one option for Pakistan. To Apologize! Apologize to the Afghan nation for thinking we could use their country as strategic depth without taking their input into consideration. Apologize for our misadventure and interference in creating a favorable groundwork for the strategic depth scenario & violating their sovereignty. Apologize for creating, funding, training & supporting the Taliban. Apologize for taking sides i.e supporting Pushtuns only, and dividing the Afghan society. Apologize to the Tajiks, Hazaras & Uzbeks for antagonizing & marginalizing them. Apologize to the Afghan nation for all the lives they have lost. And hope that they accept our apology.
Also, to show our sincerity, crush & pulverize the Taliban, and abolish their safe havens (which is our own good to). Make them aware of our commonalities and remind them that we are brothers. Take some initiatives like providing free university education to Afghans etc. and improve our diplomatic efforts, which seem to be lagging behind India's.
