There is a concept of plea bargain but that usually involves returning all looted money along with interest and then shutting up for life.
This case on the other hand is a mockery of... well..everything.

And that is the standard SC is pushing. SC's official, stated policy is "pay back only the amount you get caught for and get a clean slate. No punishment of any kind."

Mrs. Gilani sure took Rs570 million loan but got a clean chit by paying back ~Rs46 million. Then she got another Rs 28 million written off.
