Obama vs Qaddafi

  1. Well no surprise there but the "rebels" better not take too much comfort in this and I hope they have studied recent history (Remember shias in the south in Iraq fell for this and got clobbered when Saddam was allowed to still use helicopters to crush them???)

The Security Council voted 10-0 Thursday evening to impose a no-fly zone over Libya and authorize "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from attacks by Gadhafi's forces. Five nations abstained on the vote, including Russia and China.

-- Now why doesn't the General assembly ever vote for these kinds of things (Cause we know the results)? Odd the champions of democracy always favor the undemocratic SC body for such votes.

-- Why do China and Russia always abstain and not use their veto (like US always does in favor of Israel)?

"They also agreed that violence against the Libyan people must come to an end.

Oh, I always love this "We will burn the village down in order to save it" spin :)

  2. My foremost question is why can't Muslim rulers see the writing on the wall and move on before getting their people massacred and their assets plundered.

Look how the clown is writing letters to West. It was all due to his mistakes and Libyans in general and so called Muslims in particular who tolerate such tyrants. The West in fact loves such clowns as it gives them pretext to plunder Muslim resources and keep them backwards. The West will continue to take advantage of clowns from Gaddafi to Zardari to Karzai in protecting their long term interests.

Let me quote Allama Iqbal whose words are prophetic to this day.

    Apnoun ki naddani bhee dekh
    Auroun ki ayyari bhee dekh

    Look at ignorance of ours
And looks at cunning of the West

Excerpts of Gadhafi's Letters to World Leaders
    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Published: March 19, 2011
Excerpts of letters Moammar Gadhafi sent to President Barack Obama and others involved in the international coalition supporting the uprising against him:

    ___

    Letter to Obama:

To our son, the honorable Barack Hussein Obama,

As I have said before, even if, God forbid, there were a war between Libya and America, you would remain my son and I would still love you. I do not want to change the image I have of you. All of the Libyan people are with me, ready to die, even the women and children. We are fighting nothing other than al-Qaida in what they call the Islamic Maghreb. It's an armed group that is fighting from Libya to Mauritania and through Algeria and Mali. ... If you had found them taking over American cities by the force of arms, tell me what you would do?"

    ___

Letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister David Cameron and U.N. Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon:

Libya is not yours. Libya is for the Libyans. The Security Council resolution is invalid because it does not follow the charter regarding the internal affairs of any country. This is terrible oppression, crude aggression.

You never have the right to intervene in our internal affairs. Who gave you this right? You will regret it if you dare to intervene in our country. Our country is not your country. We cannot fire a single bullet at our people."

  5. West pounds Libya with air strikes

French air raids and US Tomahawk missiles pounded targets in Libya on Saturday, in an international campaign to prevent Muammar Qadhafi from crushing a month-old uprising against his rule.

US warships fired 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles into Libya, targeting Qadhafi`s air defence sites, a senior US military official said....

    @AR
I DO agree with everything he said here:

Letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister David Cameron and U.N. Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon:

Libya is not yours. Libya is for the Libyans. The Security Council resolution is invalid because it does not follow the charter regarding the internal affairs of any country. This is terrible oppression, crude aggression.

  6. I'm wholly on Gadhafi's side on this one, although God knows I hate his guts. But what began as a genuine popular uprising quickly turned into a manipulated West one. We saw it unfolding in front of our eyes and no one thought to protest then. The West is not cunning or clever, no brains at all or anything of the kind, just calculating, heartless and better armed.

They used the Kurds against Saddam in Iraq and destroyed that country. Now the rebels in Libya against Gadhafi. O, for the innocence of the Egyptian Revolution!

I was going to add a line on the Muslims, but our of respect for my fellow Muslims, shall simply say we've lost the substance of our faith in favour of ritual and think we've done our duty by God.

    MG,
Agree to the most but then aren't we specialised in treason?
West may not be very clever but they know exactly what Muslims are made of.

Yes, the rebels should not let the crusaders use them like the way crusaders used northern alliance in afghan and shia/kurd in iraq

crusaders will not let the rebels give free hand, rather take control of everything themselves, hence everyone will end up as loser!

    @Salam,
Do you really believe there are some rebels and not some implanted traitors from some other Muslim country?

It's too late for that country, NATO have bombed it back to the stone age. Gaddafi is on a knife edge now with the Reapers doing the rounds over Libyas airspace.
