Obama's State of Union and Pakistan

    Can anybody ponder upon this statement of Mr. Obama and help us understand his ambitions?

    He said, "Now, even as we prosecute two wars, we're also confronting perhaps the greatest danger to the American people -– the threat of nuclear weapons.................

    ...And at April's Nuclear Security Summit, we will bring 44 nations together here in Washington, D.C. behind a clear goal: securing all vulnerable nuclear materials around the world in four years, so that they never fall into the hands of terrorists."

    Should we not be alarmed and relate everything going around us in the region?

    Like his predecessors, Obama is opting the same approach, ignite a new fire abroad when you are deeply loosing ground and popularity at home.

    Mr. Clinton fired missiles on Afghanistan using Pakistan's space without giving advance notice when he was cornered by Monica Lewinsky scandal.

    But this one is more alarming than the playboy of white house had done during his eight years in power.

    Can we become a nation in response to this threat of impotency?

  2. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    We should.

    There's no end to their lust. We cannot afford to become part of their endless lust.

    We! are Muslims!

    We cannot allow 'lust', of anything of this world, or lust of another people, to become the 'driver' of our! life's cart.

    It will speed us towards jumping off of a cliff, into a death, which is not worthy of a Muslim. A Muslim, Muslim nation/UMMAH is much! much! better than that.

  4. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    No. I speak for ALL the people, Muslims or otherwise, ALL people who Muslims are responsible for within their borders, regardless of their race, religion, cast, creed, colour etc etc.

    No!, they are not doomed. Not unless they 'choose' to go with it.

    Dear friends,

    I don't think that you guys are doing any favour to the topic by dragging something irrelevant here. If a country faces the atrocities from within or outside, everyone of its habitants becomes a victim. No two points about that.

    Having said that, it's my and many fellow muslims' fear, especially in aftermath of 9/11 that certain things are happening for reason to justify ills in future.

    However, it's totally another topic that this weapon became much of the liability than providing us a sense of security. Starnge enough that for last 10 years or more we are going down to drain to 'protect' our weapon. This is absurd.

    I am a humanist. My heart bleeds when I see Haiti, Ethiopia, Congo, Maharashtra(India), Gaza, Kashmir and many more places. Regardless their creed and religion they are human beings, deserve the same bounty what we have in our lives, including dignity, freedom and sense of security. The three elements became extinct from Pakistani society.

    It's amazing to witness an era where a nation (Pakistani) had nothing to do with a specific incident (9/11) and hence is paying with its flesh and blood.

    It's been told that they were Saudis and Egyptians and plan was hetched somewhere in Afghanistan with financial backing of a Saudi. How beautifully, this war is crossing borders and travelling across the world hunting one muslim country after another.

    We can be witness of this injustice, perhaps 30, 40 or even hundred years after, next generations would utter mere 'Sorry' for these countless mental, physical and financial torture to more than 1.2 billion people stretched all around the world.

    This is a time to reflect and rectify the mistakes we did instead of mere crying and shouting.

    We should assemble ourselves and better educate our kids so they will have a respectable place in this world. We have to work harder to get this ghost off of our backs that we are uneducated and barabrians. That we don't respect freedom instead spread hatred and acrimony.

  6. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    @Khalid Shahab: Brother, the point you raise has already been discussed, already been proposed on this forum.

    We must! encourage education, with that research and development. Encouragement comes from 'investment'. Investment will come when there is a justice system, when there is an underlying governance system, when money is not being sent outside the borders of our! 'nation'. Governance system will only come if we have honest people, those who are most loyal to ALLAH ALMIGHTY, most loyal to Islam, those who have a vision, those who have the ability to think, those who hold both the knowledge of Islam as well as knowledge of this material world.

    It is dependent on the;

    (1) people of this nation
    (2) top leadership
    (3) people working at the heart of this nation (i.e., government)
    (4) justice system
    (5) financial policies (of this nation)

    Everything is interconnected.

    Needless to say, we as a nation need to adopt a simple life in order to save money, to invest it in education, research and development. We need to come out of this life of luxuries, status, etc etc.

    The best way to do it is to;

    (a) improve ourselves at the individual level
    (b) live a life, die the death of loyalty to ALLAH ALMIGHTY
    (c) learn more! and more! of Islam
    (d) resolve governance issues at our collective level
    (e) vote for those people who are most loyal to Islam's standards
    (f) vote those people into power who can be trusted with holding Pakistan's money
    (g) Make tax collection transparent
    (h) implement Zakaat system
    (i) fight! Jihad! with the sword! against those who don't pay Zakaat
    (j) Encourage earnings, rather than savings

    We know what we have to do. We just need honest people in the heart of this nation (i.e., government).

    The 'heart' regulates critical functions of a body. When the heart functions correctly, the entire body! is in peace.

    I emphasize so much on learning Islam, because ALL the good the west demonstrates today, they took it out of Islam.

    If they can live prosperous lives by adopting just some of Islam's principles, we! the Muslims can do MUCH! MUCH! better, because we are beholders of ALL of Islam.

    You can't educate people of this nation if;

    (i) justice system is not de-politicized

    (ii) financial policies of this nation are not de-politicized

    (iii) those governing over this nation are putting all of the state money in their own personal pockets, sending more and more money of this nation out of this nation's boundaries

    (iv) those conducting trade in this nation are busy amassing more and more money, putting it in their personal pockets, rather than spending it on the people, rather than facilitating their workers, rather than constantly 'circulating' money in our economy, by sending more and more money of this nation out of this nation's boundaries

    (v) 'power hungry people' (be them ordinary people, the rich, the generals, the bureaucrats, the traders, or any other person or entity) keep disrupting normal flow of life of citizens of this nation

  7. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    @Khalid Shahab: Janab;

    (1) Justice system
    (2) Best Governance
    (3) Finance Policy (independent, de-politicized)

    provide the base for the environment for 'investment'.

    Islam teaches us importance, relevance of ALL! of the above.

    Investment encourages oppertunities. Having oppertunities encourages environment for education, research and development, also gives incentive to local people to work hard, to look forward to achieving some objective/target. Best of all, it keeps people busy, which means crime rate goes down in society.

    We need! to have the above mentioned base in order walk on the path in a direction to achieve any of our dreams.
