Only religious thugs love blasphemy laws

If the circumstances were not so hideous, the successful attempt by Pakistan to persuade the UN Human Rights Council to condemn blasphemers who defame religion would have been a black comedy. Every word its diplomats used in 2009 to protest against Islamophobia turned out to be a precise description of the prejudices the Pakistani state was appeasing at home.

They told the UN it must approve a universal blasphemy law to protect religious minorities from "intolerance, discrimination and acts of violence". If they were not the hypocrites they appeared, but honourable men, who wanted to help all minorities and not only Muslims, they must now accept that Salmaan Taseer was butchered for protecting Pakistan's religious minorities from its own blasphemy law.

It's not difficult to imagine why when innocent are being killed by issuing open fatwas by the "custodian" of the religion. In other words the point of the article title is proven.

When liberal extremists like Salman Taseer go to Sheikhupura jail and cross the limit and pass on a judgment(and issue a fatwa) that this lady is so poor and is being wrongly persecuted coz of a unfair law, and i have studied her case and no such incident for which she is being blamed ever took place and she is being wrongly accused & I will ask Prez Zardari to pardon her sentence..

You are a friggin' governor, not a judge of some court,if crime have been committed then criminal will have to do the time, its not a banana republic that court restores Rehman Malik's sentence after NRO is nullified and you dorks go a get the sentence pardoned by president..

He crossed the line so he had to pay the price, now this religious extremist guy who just like him(taseer) became a judge himself and passed on a judgment and murdered him,he too crossed the line so he too will eventually pay the price according to law of the land..

    ---

Hundreds of poor men here in karachi alone are being wrongly and unfairly persecuted and made to suffer coz of pillion riding ban(double sawari) and made to rot in courts for months coz they have no money to pay rishwat(bribe) and get off the hook,HAS ANY ONE EVER RAISED VOICE FOR THEM?

Obviously NOT,after all raising voice for these 'poor' and hapless people being unfairly persecuted won't earn any kudos and pat on the back from west and obviously won't generate any media hype and publicity so only plight of 'poor' Christian lady is raised and governor plays a role in getting her sentence pardoned..

Lets see, how many other poor prisoner had Taseer visited in punjab jails and sat with them in front of media and told them that they're being wrongly and unfairly persecuted and he would ask president to remit and pardon their sentences?

During his entire tenure as governor I can't even recall even one case where he played his role to bail out 'poor and destitute' ..

Does that mean every other prisoner is getting a fair trial and isn't being persecuted or unfairly treated? NO! there are thousands of innocent souls rotting in jails, but liberal extremist western tail wagger just was interested in raising the plight of 'poor christian lady' coz it earned kudos and commendation from west and free worldwide media publicity..

    @Yahya

This guy wasn't a judge that had the authority to sit with a prisoner and declare him/her innocent. When you become a judge yourself and pass on a judgment(Fatwas) that's where problem begins.

When liberal extremist criminal gang Militant Qatil Mafia MQM Altaf can get infuriated and exasperated for the sake of worthless "do takay ka" scum like that deranged psycho Altaf and openly threaten to repeat a 12th may 2007 type massacre and carnage (in which they had mercilessly gunned down dozens of innocent souls) then can you really blame relegious extremists for raising hue and cry where Prophet of Islam is involved and according to law of the land you can't abuse or insult the prophet..
