Sorry, there was this short video on Al Jazeera which I thought might be of interest to some. But I didn't manage to post it here.

@MG
Here is the video you wanted to post:
But this about says it all (nothing but PR):
...We are on a media trip with the Pakistani Army and for good measure they deliver a few bags of flour for our cameras. They should have brought much more

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@barackosama: Sarcasm aside, what did I miss ?

Thanks nota. I wasn't doing PR for the army as well, I swear. I found the way they were building that bridge interesting. First time I've seen them doing something of real practical value for the coming refugee resettlement programme. Or so I hope. The flour distribution was of course a washout.

Funny thing is all such videos I've seen, its always been army tooting its own horn. They seem more concerned about selling the idea of themselves as saviors than being saviors.
Also to be noticed is -- and I challenge anyone post one that disproves this -- in all those videos with army helicopters distributing relief, you won't see them handing out more than four, five bags at most (and I am going "what a freaking waste" -- imagine the resources burned to deliver so little)

Spot on, nota, spot on. Much ado about nothing, and at considerable cost, too. But I did like the bridge story and I keep hoping they're busy up north mending roads and bridges among the hardest hit in that respect. But perhaps it's just a forlorn hope on my part. Have heard nothing anywhere on the subject so far.

mirza Ghalib
It seems u are very fan of Pakistan Army.
Let me tell u some properties of Pakistan Army.
The corruption of Pak army in the history is Pakistan is much more than the damage cause by Flood.
SO Pakistan army is doing nothing people are saving themselves from flood. Pak army is just a tool for Armed officer to protect them from Law. But believe me when Khilafa comes than army have to pay a heavy price for what it had done.
And on that day u will see ur beloved army will stand in the way of Islam for their hypocrisy!
I give u the simple example suppose if today the Deen of Allah will Established in Pakistan. Ur Pak army will never accept it. So it will fight against the truth of Islam to defend it's benefits. The Army officer will never surrender their luxurious life to the simple life of Islam

S. S., hello. Not quite true that bit about my being a fan of Pak Army. When they seem to be doing something good and I hear about it, I try and acknowledge it. When I hear of something horrendous about them like their recent Shahbaz airbase crime, I hate them deeply.
About the Khilafa, which started off life as the Islamic Nizam, from what I've heard, at least half of the army will be siding with it at least. I do not necessarily mean the officer class. Most of them are just part of the corrupt wealth elite. But the rank and file, the simple soldiers. So if the Khilafa does come about, Super Soldier, it will also have part of the armed forces on its side.
For the moment, though, we have to concentrate on the floods and their victims. We have to get the west out of Afghanistan, etc. Later on, then, accounts can be settled with all the traitors to this country. And on one point we are totally in agreement: I, too, long for the "simple life of Islam" with its inherent justice and righteousness over and above anything the present "luxurious" life of limited prosperity can ever offer us.

Mirza Ghalib I am sorry to say that u are wrong Army is not on the side of Khilafa but army is one of symbol against the structure of Khilafa.
I gave u simple points
1. In Khilafa there are no fixed border
1. The Pak army is fighting for Border
2. The Khilafa demand to defend the whole muslims Land
2. The Pak army is helping the Kuffaar in killing innocent Musilm
3. The KHilafa demand equality. The pay of Labour is equal to the pay Officer
3. Pak army's is not just with JCO4. In the KHILFA Challenge Democracy
4. Pak army is supporter of democracy5. Khilafa will never allow its land to use against Muslim
5. Pak army during mushraff's time gave land to American for killing muslimPosted 1 year ago on 23 Aug 2010 11:28 # -
Pak army and religious organizations are leading in flood relief activities, civil Govt is completely disapeared.
------
Pakistan said it will clamp down on charities linked to Islamist militants amid fears their involvement in flood relief, exploiting anger against the government, will undermine the fight against groups like the Taliban.

Thanks a lot, iamsowise for clip. Just seeing a child laughing again in the surrounding pain and grief made the heart glow. Thank God for Muslims in Pakistan who behave like Muslims should. And never mind what the Govt says. Who bothers to pay attention to them.
Super Soldier, We're saying the same things in different ways. Half the army at least are profoundly Muslim. That part of it will side with the Khilafa. The other half will be shown the exit when the time comes. Worshippers of the Rising Sun, as someone once said on this blog, they'll be back soon enough once the Khilafa gets going.
