Need at least 200 run lead...
time for younis khan to step up!Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 10:09 #
Younis Khan b Panesar 1 (14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 7.14
Er..I meant time for misbah to step up....Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 10:11 #
Younis khan gone too,
Game overPosted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 10:11 #
Man, of all people; I'm extremely disappointed with Younus Khan. The guy is not only our best batsman but one of the premier players of spin bowling going around. Him giving his wicket to Panesar was a crime. The efforts of Azhar and Asad should be commended for putting up a resistance no matter how miniscule it is at the moment.Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 15:41 #
The headline made me so happy, considering the fact that "rise and shine" India is struggling to find replacement of its buddhi batting line up..Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 16:06 #
Yes, expected stiffer resistance from Younis Khan, not to mention Taufeeq and professor. Prof should just play natural game, he is not of the defensive mindset.
Azhar and Shafiq’s efforts are to be applauded though.
also don’t forget, pak are rated 5 and we are playing against no.1 team in the world. Woo be kalni ayain hai :)
I’m happy that we are competing with them. Eng might win, but we are not making it easy for them. I’ve never seen Eng top order having to fight so hard for runs in the last few years.
However, its not over yet! If we can somehow get a lead of 170-180, it will be a tricky chase for eng.Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 16:18 #

Excellent fightback by the youngsters. I had given up after Misbah got out thinking that's it for us but Azhar and Asad has put up a good fightback. I hope they score another 100 runs together here and give ajmal something to bowl at.Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 18:44 #
Inshalla guys will fight till end not like Indian chickens...
200 + lead would do the magic on last day,
Agreed about YK, something is wrong with him... he is not doing well against quality bowling... why not take break and let Akmal play one test next time??Posted 3 years ago on 27 Jan 2012 22:59 #
You took the words right outta my mouth! Yes, it would be just perfect if Younis can be given a gentle oomph on his backside. Move up Asad Shafiq at 4 and bring in Akmal at number 6; its not like he is going to do any worse than Younis Khan. Asad Shafiq is growing in stature especially as a test batsman and he along with Azhar and Umar would be our pivotal batsmen for years to come.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 4:32 #
@ ex and sidiqi
You both are crazy even thinking about getting rid of younis khan and lol @ bringing akmal back I am assuming we are talking about the I can't catch akmal back.
No thanks to him I would rather have a batsman that's is averaging 50 and over 65 since his comeback.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 5:12 #
Pakistan Beats England by 72 runs

Dedicated to everyone! STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS!Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 13:54 #
2 to 3 more good pace bowlers and 2 to 3 more steady batsmen and we could become a very competitive team, both at home and away.
I hope Umar Akaml is mentored as he has talent.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 14:28 #
Jet agey... see corruption se Pak ... can be a **** Power, in all way of life....
Nope i am just talking about resting YK, Today india is in mess because in good days they never thought about resting Dravid Laxman, SRT ...their young guys end up playing ODIs and warming bench.
YK is one of the best but may be need some rest... its like take a day or two off from work ? its not about dropping him, but making him and future cricketer ready for long term.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 14:38 #
Ex pakistani sahib
I guess Younis Khan shaib is always under rpessure to score. With instability at top and at lower positions, it comes down to Younis Khan sahib to keep on scoring.
Once we have more dependable batsmen, Younis Khan sahib will have less stress of provding stability and shun his natural free flowing style.
He is a very fluent batsmen both at home and away and without the stress to score all time, he can be a wonderful sight to watch, as a free flowing batsman.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 14:52 #
For all who could not watch. Abu Dhabi, Pakistan vs. England 2nd test, final day, Jan 28, 2012 Highlights:Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 17:10 #
misbah ul haq is proving to be a good captain but the main problem is his age, he is already 38 years old i think so i guess he won't be able to lead the side in a long run, anyhow he is a cool customer.
like saeed ajmal, will england also raise objection about abdur rehman's bowling action.
May ALLAH bless Pakistan and Pakistanis.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 17:43 #
Check-out this version of "Stand up for the Champions." The compilation and montage is just brilliant.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 18:53 #
Who was that in the beginning of the video talking about cornered tigers? I think I have seen him before.Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 19:30 #
Heheheheheheh...I knew that the beginning of that particular video would surely get the bells ringing on a lot of people :D !!!! That dude happens to be the greatest cricketers ever produced by our country and one of the greatest to have graced the game of cricket....as for him being a politician...I'll take a rain cheque for now ;)Posted 3 years ago on 28 Jan 2012 19:51 #
This is a good time for PCB to start thinking about bringing stand in capt... may be a young VC.
May be Umer Gul / Hafiz or Shafiq? Hafiz still need to prove himself to be part of playing Xi.
Very surprising we dont get some 17-20 yrs high school drop offs (but highly talented cricketers). Most of the guys in team are 28 +. Before next world cup we do need couple of pace bowlers and spinners.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 3:56 #
Iam afraid this wont convert into a winning spree.
Pakistani batting is less than ordinary.
Younis khan is over rated.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 4:49 #
For now, lets just savour this triumph.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 6:36 #
Our cricketers should complete a 3-0 routing of England.
Go Pakistan GoPosted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 8:11 #
Brother, we have the poms by their pair and they just don't have the means to loosen our strangle ;). Not only we have whopped a$$ but along the way, blighty's such as Botham and Willis have been forced to change their perception about us.
As for 3-0, bring em' on!Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 10:49 #
English would be lamenting themselves why they caught and punished and imprisoned corrupt Pakistani trio. Had corrupt Butt was still in-charge of our team, the last 2 matches would have won by England.
Bring it on!! 3-0 whitewashPosted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 11:29 #
Perhaps England should do the same to the corrupt politicians. Pakistn will be a better place.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 11:41 #
Your are 100% right!
We should import British justice system and British judges in our country to punish our corrupt politicians. I bet corrupt Butt trio would have escaped a jail sentence if their case was in any Pakistani court or may have acquited of all fraud charges.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 12:50 #
Thank you. I am glad that someone agrees with me. Back to the topic.
Pakistan has earned a lot up ill reputation in the internationl cricket circles. In this world, apart from performing on the field, it is important to perform off-field as well. Manager/Coach/Captain when interviewed by the media have to perform well. This is exactly what is happening now and in addition to the good performance on the field, it forces the media to behave as well and this is why if there is one Willis making a silly and illogical statment there are dozens of others who have supported Pakistan and ridiculed Willis and the likes.Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 13:18 #
This is an example of what people other than Willis have said:Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 13:25 #
Amazing win by pakistan.
I thought eng would have a tough chase but I never thought our spinners would blow them away like that!
Well played to pak team and congrats to all pak team fans!
3-0 would be icing on the cake :)Posted 3 years ago on 29 Jan 2012 19:06 #
While Pakistanis are deservedly basking in the glory of victory over the world number 1 cricket team England, I just hope that Pak cricket coach and other concerned personnel look hard at the fact that Pakistani batsmen's had failed to post a decent score on the board......miracles like in Abu Dhabi don't happen every day and we must get our batting house in order....
I don't want to be the spoiler of the party but facts remain pakistani batsmen were no way near to world batting standard.....yes right Misbah made 84 odd runs in the first innings and then there was heroics from Azhar and Shafiq but this is also a fact that Pak team did not cross 300 mark in either innings......Something Mohsin Khan and Misbah will do well to address!!!!Posted 3 years ago on 30 Jan 2012 5:36 #

These below 2 lilnks are quite funny in the wake of havoc that Saeed Ajmal's Teesra wrecked on English players:Posted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 13:12 #
yes u r rite, i completely agree with u, PCB will have to think seriously about captaincy. no doubt misbah ul haq is a great captain at the moment but considering his age he may be able to lead the side for 2 years maximum or may be less. i think hafiz will be a good choice as a captain.
zaka ashraf is a competent person, i hope he'll sort this thing out.
if bangladesh tours pakistan in april, which is very much likely, then it'll be a huge success for pakistan cricket and credit will go to Mr. Zaka Ashraf.
May ALLAH bless Pakistan and Pakistanis.Posted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 16:20 #
@ukpaki1....comments like yours appear most genuine and without any strings attached......very well said sire!!!Posted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 17:48 #
I think Misbah is in great shape, he doesn't have mileage on his body due to the late start. I think he can lead us for the next 4 years.
But i don't like Hafiz as captain because i have only seen him perform with the bat on flat pitchs.
I hope Misbah brings in young players like Fawad Alam, Zain Abbas, Azeem Ghummam, Hammad Azam, Afaq Raheem, Anwar Ali and can build a young core. And hopefully we can develop a captain whose got a good brain, remember Misbah isn't just a cricket junky, he's got a MBA degree as well.Posted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 19:39 #
How about Mohasin Khan he is OK but i like coach with int'l repute .... at top level we need politics free, genuine guy. With know how of doing computer works. Dave wathttimore, Bob wollmer marhoom or Jeff lawson type.
How Aussies constantly bowled Rahul Dravid is on good way of using technology and capturing weaknesses.Posted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 19:58 #
very interesting story of Saeed AjmalPosted 3 years ago on 31 Jan 2012 21:11 #
Thanks for sharing.... Good story.Posted 3 years ago on 01 Feb 2012 2:47 #
More than worrying about and looking at possibility of replacement of Captain or Coach, PCB will do well to find a full time batting coach to remedy the problem that has been existing but it's fragility is hidden because of bowlers exceptionally good performances.....players like Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq should be encouraged and nurtured as both of them have shown the grit, patience and temprament for test cricket....in a few years time they will be the backbone of Pak team's middle order....
Misbah and Mohsin have enough gas left in the tank to run and win a few more 400-meter races if not the marathons....but same cannot be said about the batting....Whatmore can be hired as a batting coach while Mohsin Khan can be retained as head coach....
Mohsin does seem to have brought unity in the team, given stability to dressing room and fine tuned this rogue army into a fighting unit....he has earned his place and letting him go will not augur well with the current composition of the team...Posted 3 years ago on 01 Feb 2012 5:08 #
I been reading about Shoaib Malik, PCB or some unknown power just cant wait to put this looser in team....
He is no outstanding player, and on top he is out of form but always in news for " next captain". Come'n this guy cant even make it in honestly selected Pakistan Xi.Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 1:45 #
3rd test starts tomorrow. Good luck to pak team. Hope they make it 3-0 and carry the momentum into 20/20 and ODI series.Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 17:17 #
3-0 against Eng will be a dizzy height of which Pak cricket is not familiar......but what the heck, there is always a "FIRST" to everything, so who knows??Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 21:43 #
Whatmore will never settle for batting coach.
If anything they should hire a batting expert who is willing to work as a batting coach under Mohsin KhanPosted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 21:45 #
Let Misbah show some young guys the leadership they need to be successful.
Fawad Alam, Zain Abbas, Anwar Ali, Azeem Ghummam, Afaq Raheem, Shoaib Khan....Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 21:46 #
Fawad Alam??? Zoab you must be kidding, right? Fawad screwed up big time and had proved himself a good for nothing fella...
By recommending Fawad's name I am beginning to doubt about other names you mentioned.....lollPosted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 21:51 #
Fawad has some technical flaws but same with Akmal or any young kid in Pakistani camp. Fawad was miss used in T 20s but he is good for ODI and test matches, deserve a chance... Do you remember his 150 + against sri lankan ( even Murali was part of that team )
by laughing out at fawads name i am thinking that you have issue with players from karachi? lets hope i am wrongPosted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 22:32 #
Fawad has a 40+ avg in tests and 38 avg in ODI. Close to 60 avg in first class, thats higher than Inzi, Misbah, Miandad, Younis, Yousuf.....So i think he warrants an extended look.
And honestly he hasn't been used right. In tests he has been asked to open, in ODI he bats at #6 and is expected to hit 6's. He's not Razzaq or Afridi type of player. He's the kind of player who can bat at #3 or #4 and score a 100 in 90-120 balls.
Also remember the reason he isn't in the team is because Ijaz Butt.Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 22:43 #
Sultan when did Fawad screw up?
an avg of 37 and 42 isn't screwing anything up.
The only thing you could be thinking he screwed up was he didn't lick Ijaz Butt's big toe.Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 22:44 #
@expakistani.....good attempt at giving pure sports comment an ethnic color, that shows the way you think.....but I am not going down to that level and will also advise you to be open minded and allow difference of opinion.....!!!
Yes, Fawad made an impressive 168 against SL on debut but you conveniently forgot to mention what he scored in his following 2 test matches? 16+16 and 29+5.....right?...so he is not quite busting at the seam, is he?.....I have nothing against him but my question to you and Zoab Khan is who you are proposing to be replaced by Fawad?Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 23:14 #
Didnt mean to call you pro-punjab ( : but there are few cricketers who were dropped way to early, Fawad, khuram manzoor, faisal Iqba, another left player from karachi cant think of his name... guy scored 50 + score in every other test game but was dropped..... A constantly backing of Adnan and kamran over Sarafraz.... Remember Anwar Ali and another pacer from karachi Sohail?? he was part of last west indian tour and missed out without any reason... and young legs of cheema got selected.. ?
16+16 and 29+5 are not bad score after 150 +; guy need to be in team or part of future team.... ofcourse we can pick only 11 guys. But when you are thinking about future you take best 15 for tour / learning purpose.
who we have sitting outside Imran Farhat? Can this guy learn any thing more ?
Fawad / Manzoor or any youngster can learn alot just by staying with team.Posted 3 years ago on 02 Feb 2012 23:48 #
