bad news for Pakistan's Sports industry...
I don't think there is a political angle to not using a Pakistan made football.
Surgical and Sports Industry from Sialkot has been very badly hit by power cuts. Factory owners are unable to keep up the pace of export even to maintain quality of goods.
Since Samberial came up as a dry port a couple of decades ago and building of an International Airport in Sialkot and introduction of strict control on export goods from Sialkot there have been no reported cases of concealed drugs in sports goods.
There are strict laws in effect on child labor in Sialkot. Women have replaced them, so this excuse too is out.
China is providing a tuff competition to Sialkot. Quality could be a possible issue.
@semirza
According to one member whom asked it was because of some consignment of Pakistani football were captured somewhere which contains something illegal in it...Another person whom I myself agree with said that "Their is a tough competition with China and Pakistani Footballs are made by women by hand so due to hand made Footballs are more expensive then Machines and recent Financial crisis are threatening Pakistani Footballs market so that could be the reason for that" while others were just saying like "We have to improve Quality""We have to eork hard in building Image of Pakistan" etc etc...
Women are employed by Sports manufacturers because the daily wages or rate per football is slightly less than their male counterparts.
Any way a hand sewen football costs more than a ball manufactured through mechanized process.
I quite agree with you that this could be a reason and China is the one competing with Pakistan.
According to my information, just to legalize a stamp 'made in Sialkot' on sports goods India has since a long time named a small town 'Sialkot' but in the International market India has failed to make a mark.
I don't see any political angle or conspiracy behind this.
its pretty much quality and econmic issue & Pakistan or sialkot does not have a monoply. Last time in 2006 , it was thailand made football which was used in WC.
@Sharif Aadmi
You are right their aint any Political angle but you must also know that our Sports goods from Sialkot are the only positive image of Pakistan available in the World and just imagine how much this news could effect this industry...
gazi
Pakistan image is more of a ROUGE STATE which is centre of global terrorism.
Bah, we need to be competative in the world markets , improve ourselves instead of crying of foul play.
china can provide much cheaper footballs...it's simple as that. You can't really compete with china.
I agree, we have to keep up with technology.
I had posted a link to an article that may be of interest.

btw:Adidas is a German company their team has been using the new ball for a full year now.
I went to a sports store yesterday and evaluated both the footballs. The 'Made in Pakistan' one is made up of the conventional pentagonal patches and slightly heavier than the 'Chinese' ball. the Chinese football was made up almost entirely of a single leather patch with very little stitchings. Overall the Pakistani football 'looked' better and easier to play with while the Chinese football looked a bit too 'slippery' and 'lightweight'.. well thats just my observation..
We need to bring international sports companies to invest in our country. Large companies like Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Puma and many others should be given incentives to invest on our country. China has given huge incentives to foreign manufacturers to shift to their country. Now China has become world’s manufacturing hub and they are using their large population to produce for the rest of the world. Even India is doing extremely well in IT development as well as manufacturing again using their large population. We have fairly large population which can also be properly used if foreign investors are given stable investment environment.
Local imitators using names of large companies should be heavily penalized to assure big brands that we are serious about fraud imitators. Piracy is a crime and should not be tolerated in any civilized society.
Foreign companies have latest technology and global market power. Their investment will bring jobs for the locals and export dollars for the country.
