Pakistan's major achievements in last 64 years

Some say 64 years is too small a time for nations to develop and show character and then some say it is good enough time for a nation to show what it is made of.

I am wondering as to what are some of our glorious achievements of last 64 years and if all ordinary Pakistanis like myself are aware of these achevements.

Achievements that are unique in this world and any other country could have been proud of those achievements.

Achievements that make other countries envy of us.

Achievements that provide leadership and motivation to other countries like Pakistan.

Achievements that we as Pakistanis shall be proud of.

Achievements that depict our character as a nation

Achievements that can continue to motivate current and coming generation of Pakistanis to do better and even better.

Achievements that in the dismal days can provide us hope and be beacon of light.

During 64 years history, we grew in various fields like education, sports, agriculture, banking and industry.

The nos. of schools and universities increased manifold after the independence.

There was an era in the history of Pakistan, when we continually won all important titles in hockey. We claimed victory nos. of times in World Cup, Champions Trophy, Asia Cup and Olympics.

Compared to the pre-independence era, a much larger area came under cultivation.

There was only one bank of the Muslims in the pre-independence era. That was Habib Bank. The post independence era saw nos. of banks rising. BCCI, a bank created by the Pakistanis became one of the world's top level banks.

There was hardly any industrial setup at the time of independence, but within 20 years after independence a large industrial setup had come into existence.

However, our achievements were badly damaged by corrupt army generals, mullahs, politicians and lawyers.

I may have not explained the way you did brother, and in a better way. Abdul Sattar Edhi Saab and Co we should be proud of. Look at that simple man. Same dress, chappal everything soaked in simplicity, dedication and sacrifice. When Mother Theresa could be canonized, what should we call Abdul Sattar Edhi Saab...a living Saint (a living legend).
Shame to our so-called political elected reps. They should not be called politicians but hypocrites cuz this is their way of living. Double speak, always falling back on their words. All talk but no credible deed to backup their hollow slogans. No wonder Abdul Sattar is wary of politics.
Sure brother, Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi Saahbs achievement is one that we Pakistanis should be proud of (provided Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi Saahb has no objection).

    2-Dr Abdul Qadeer's invention
3-Our Artist,Calligrapher like Gul Jee,Painters Iqbal Hussain etc,tv artists,Singers,Poets,Authors..Do I have to name them too?...

Sorry guys there are no major achievement for Pakistan except two minors ones, i.e. becoming a Nuclear power and developing a delivery system for it.

Things like Chandka medical college, youngest MS certified engineers and ambulances are not counted as achievements.

On the other hand we are able to loose 3 or 4 wars and half of the country.

Compare building Motorway, Gul Jee, Khairpur university, world largest Munjhi and stuff like that with achievements such as mastering space technology including setting foot on moon and sending rovers to Mars, developing Internet, Universities like Harvard, MIT and many more, among others.

first compare the economical,geo-political,political,war history,of Pakistan with USA and then expect anything like that here...

its simply unintelligent to compare a country like USA and Pak...you prolly are not aware of the ground realities of Pakistan since its birth...

I am fully aware of it. These are all sorry a*s excuses given by any loser.

USA had much violent political history. As for their military might and economic situation they are the ones, who by shear hard work, have brought themselves to a position that is well suited for a superpower.

One the other hand we are probably in top 10 most corrupt nation if not number 1. We support wadira shahi and still believe one man can give roti kapra makan and on top of it cry like a baby that our "situation" is not favorable.

Last time I visited Pakistan, I had chat with many Rickshaw drivers, labors, shop keepers and felt there is an underlying honesty in all of us and love for our country. Amazing that it survived 64 years of perpetrations by our rulers. Then I thought this nation can bounce back anytime the conditions are ripe!

Zara nam ho to ye mitti....

To me this is biggest achievement is that we kept this feeling (this jazba) intact for last 64 years. Good luck Pakistan!

-mastering space technology including setting foot on moon and sending rovers to Mars, (a hoax of its time)
-Universities like Harvard, MIT and many more, among others. (not done without following set examples by civilizations that excelled having hospitals, schools, universities, police, naval expeditions, overland expeditions predating European dark ages)

Why not, and what a feat achieved that is now USA!
Mass genocide of indigenous populations labeled as Red Indian savages therefore dispensable. How pathetic. This followed directly by a mass inflow of European settlers supplemented by slave trade and plantation culture.
You have a sound history (if history at all) to boast for that you call USA!

i agreed on your above comments regarding atomic power and some universities installed by ZAB,but you should have not used a word looser to any of our friend who is debating with you.

for me most of people of pakistan believe in conspiracies theories made by establishment agaisnt those leaders who wished to serve the country to build a society in which old values of greed and advancement will be replaced by common concern for the welfare of whole community.establishment and some of their lovers Eradicated the leaders who gave us choice of vision of a vibrant, tolerant and strong federation, and obscurantism and fragmentation.they gave us hope, strength, moving forward, progress for all and harmony among provinces, commitment to freedom and fundamental rights.

these above were main reasons that establihsment disliked such act by ZAB,BB.this is because of ethnic reasons that how other provice leader taking all credibility and popularity and make establishment slave to common people and snatching the Luxurious life from establishment.

Establishment continued conspiracies against ZAB,BB,just because they are voice of poor people and Establishment was afraid of thier existence and they stoped cooperation to flourish the country towards progress and tried to blaik mail and they used to speed up curruption inside institutions during the regems of ppp to put them blame and make reasons to destroy the party.

Why we feel shame to mention such personalities who sacrificed for country and all the efforts to strong the Pakistan, establishment and in the return they received the award from establishment.one hanged and other bombarded.

I would say Pakistan has no achievement. I agree, Pakistan and USA has no comparison. I think we should compare ourselves to Israel.
Both security states, rightist, creates around same time and beside other similarities both are one of the most hated nations in the world. Israelis has highest number of patents registered, one of the most advance in high tech per capita of $30k.... nevertheless Pakistan's current turmoil is no where near Israel

Im not an advocate for Israel. I like my countrymen to learn lessons there are ppl succeeding in worst conditions and we are just cursing ourselves

I agree with Rohail; he is darn right on the dime. US didn't inherit anything from anyone, and how stood on the world stage is remarkable.

Mriza Sahab, please start using the word aboriginals instead of Red Indian as it is a word of oppression equals to calling African American either black or niggar. Please include that in your dictionary. And such oppression didn't happen only in USA, it also has catered by British Empire in Canada, Australia and even in British India. Probably we need to broaden our knowledge base. Besides Pakistan is not saint in that term, Bangladesh, Karachi and now Balochistan, we have seen it all.

As for the achievement, I have no idea why are we trumpeting Khairpur University or vice versa. Pakistan hasn't done any significant yet to talk about. It is a place 'jahan kay hukumraan churs bhee qarz ki petay hain'. We even stole nuclear technology from other country and if we talk about Texila Heavy Mechanical Complex, it is definitely from China.

Main cause of problem in pakistan is dirty establishment with majority of one ethnic group that has no vision except hatered among nations and promoting curruption in institutions and blamimg to politicians and making reason to people of pakistan that politicians are bad person and they themself are loyal to country.any leader who wish to serve poor people he is hated person for them.

they made themselves accustomized to live luxurious life rather then living in baricks and borders.
as they sew so they are reaping in the border of afgan they made policies for themselves and they force to adopt other wise will be eliminated...

best way is that from all provinces armed forces, so called establishment ,beaurocete to be appointed on equity basis to maintain the check and balance in institutions.but for them they think other nations are agent for india this is main bone of contention before they use kashmire issue to eat every thing.now war on terror.

Achievement of Pakistanis as seen "Through the eyes of the enemies"

Let us see, what is the biggest achievement of Pakistanis though the eyes of enemies of Islam.

Pakistan was created based on a realization that the values and culture of Hindus were opposite to what is required to retain Islamic personality. After independence, Pakistanis sacrificed and created large army to defend the eastern border with a view to defend the same Islamic values. Many wars were imposed, but Pakistanis retained the basic values of Islam.

Then, a new generation of Pakistanis came of age. This new generation retained hate against India and kept on funding large budget for Army. But, they forgot underlying purpose of being against India, i.e. retention of Islamic values. That generation and the following generations adopted all the wrong values of Indian and Western culture without any external pressure or war.

Thus, in the eyes of enemies of Islam, Pakistanis achieved what the enemies of Islam always wanted, i.e. keep Pakistanis away from the true values of Islam.
