    Not surprising to see Rahimullah Yusufzai putting the onus on tribals for the destruction of the city.

    Working for various western propaganda machines he has always tried to muddy the water as much as possible, deliberately overlooking the role of war criminals and bases in neighboring country.

    You forgot Bhutto's role, secondly you missed to acknowledge the fact that resistance started indigenously and sustained locally with local support.

    Only after seeing it's strength and determination west showed interest in supporting it to oust USSR's influence.

    As far as rental role is concerned that has been Pakistan's generals who rent air bases, logistics and intelligence in return for dollars and political support.

    do not forget support of cia and mossad in rent a jehad in 80,s.

    cia & mossad provided $$$$$$$, weapons, trainings etc.

    anyone can use these jehadees against $$$$$$$ & weapons.

    i went to peshawar in 1974, it was really very beautiful and having tikk /BBQ still remember.

    then i went later in 1980, peshawar was totally changed. i was really very sad to visit.

    flood of afghan refugees had changed the real face of peshawar, it became dirty, encroachment became common, foreign faces seen, streats and bazars showing mess.

    i was really shocked to see the peshawar in 1980.

    since then never went again.

    i have full sympathies with local inhabitants of peshawar.

    i pray Allah, to get rid of these afghan refugees.

    i love to see old peshawar once again, a peaceful and loving.

    Not sure, what is your point, but refugees are not an issue.

    Why refugees from India are welcome but from Afghanistan not welcome? Shouldn't they be helped when they were facing humanitarian crisis?

    The problem is that during Mushy's rule Ali Jan Orakzai tried to stabilize the region, but Mush under pressure forced his commanders to launch military operation.

    There were multiple peace treaties which were sabotaged, govt broke agreements under various excuses but real cause was NATO/US pressure because they have been losing.

    indian muslims struggled for independance of pakistan, whereas, afghan refugees are nonsense burden.

    indian muslims sacrified their lives & property for independance of pakistan.

    afghan refugees did not struggle for pakistan rather they created so many problems for pakistan society/culture.

    ah look at the term you use, it is quite clear what you have in your mind about Muslims from one region vs Muslims from other region.

    May be Muslims from Afghanistan saved Pakistan from USSR aggression which you fail to realize.

    I can say the same thing about 'Indian Refugees' but I will never say such derogatory words for Muslims.

    being muslim does not mean to follow each and every custom, value, habits of arabians.

    islam is religion/faith but language, culture, eating/dressing habits etc. may differ.

    so muslims of india are different in nature from muslim in uzbekistan.

    muslims in arabia may differ to pushtoons.

    It is not language, location or local culture that is important, it is the ideology and way of life that is what brought different people together under PAKISTAN.

    i wanted proove that molvees of deoband and baacha khan family were against pakistan and were supporting hindu congress.

    thats why, i never trust molvees and ANP leadership selling idea of pakhtoonkhaw.

    rent a jehad in 80's was played by deoband molvees,

    and recent actions are being supported by ANP.

    molvees and baacha khan family were against pakistan, even at present they are playing role against the interest of pakistan.

    i remembered / recalled old lovely culture of peshawar city and deteriorated after incoming floods of afghan refugees which you opposed and favoured claiming muslim ideology then our discussion got different direction.

    Peshawar is Peshawar. History of subcontinent would not be complete without mentioning Peshawar and Dara-e-Khaibar!

    Although this was not the topic but a member brought in 'uncalled for comments' about Moulvis. Like to discuss moulvis and which moulvi said what...than bring up some evidence against a moulvi or moulvis if you may so please yourself so that this issue could be dealt with rational approach. Pls do that in a thread where we would be able to discuss in detail.

    Bengalis have nothing to do with this topic either.

    Members are advised to avoid 'generalizations without any evidence as a backup'. This is certainly not a healthy approach to discuss a topic.

    Its a Pity to see people changing the direction of a thread when they can't convince or have no valid point. I would rather have a snooze then arguing with an intellectually brain dead person (not directed towards one person but who ever does this on a routine basis)

    What kind of sick mentality this person has who is criticizing those people who's country has been attacked by one super power after another. These are the people who actually fought not only their own war but I believe that they also fought "pAKISTAN'S" WAR AS WELL!

    How come, we acknowledge the sacrifices of Urdu speakers (despite being wrongly de-famed by MQM's Ghundagiree) but refuse to acknowledge the sacrifice of the Afghan Nation. Any Pakistani who has any doubt that there is a difference between an Afghan Pushtun or Pakistani Pushtun's lives in a fool's world! We may be in 2 different countries but we have the same culture,religion,language and background. Infact it was the racist, manipulative british who punished afghans for their disobedience by dividing them into 2 different countries. Remeber, every Pushtun is an Afghan but not every Afghan is Pushtun!

    This was a great article, nice post by msohail. I actually find it hard to beleive that peshawar was once a city of flowers. This jihad insanity has totally destroyed the fabric of this city and we only see the dance of death in this city. All these rent a jihadis should be deported back to their home countries and let them do their nonsense there. We need to get rid of this pest and work back on bringing back the flowers.

    Hypocritical angle of politics of the 21st century. When foreign lands dictate the domestic policy of states, leaders of said states continuously give speeches on 'national interest' and systematic murder of its own citizens ensues.

    Conquest and Invasion are no longer required to defeat another state/nation when at war...... just control the govt and let the govt. rip its own country into shreds....

    Exactly. Ecomomic domination is another way of saying the same thing. We need to be economically strong and this does not mean that we have to be a rich nation. Just need to be self-sufficient. Self-respect and dignity will follow.
