KARACHI: Federal Minister for Interior, Senator Abdul Rehman Malik, said that throughout the life his goal was the betterment, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

He was speaking on the occasion of conferment of honorary degree of Doctorate on him by the University of Karachi on Tuesday at a Special Convocation 2011 held at the Governor House here.

Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Karachi, conferred the degree on Senator Abdul Rehman Malik.

The degree has been awarded by the Syndicate of Karachi University in recognition of his “matchless services to the country in the war on terror and particularly in restoring peace to the citizens of Karachi.”

Rehman Malik expressed his resolve to come up to the expectations of the nation and serve the country in an effective manner.

He told the gathering that included the Vice-Chancellor, Pro- Vice-Chancellors and senior faculty of Karachi University that his father had advised him to always respect the teachers.

“I paid heed towards this advice and throughout my life I remained successful in every sphere,” he remarked.

Rehman Malik who did his Masters in Statistics in 1973 from the University of Karachi, said that at that time they all considered themselves as Pakistanis and that there was no Sindhi, Punjabi, Baloch, Pakhtoon and Mohajir.

He said that there is a need to foster the spirit of ‘Pakistaniat’ as they all are Pakistanis.

Rehman Malik said that today the honorary degree of Doctorate has been conferred on him in recognition of his services in the war on terror.

Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Karachi, said that he was happy that Karachi University is awarding an honorary Doctorate degree to social scholar Senator Rehman Malik.

He said that Rehman Malik’s efforts against terrorism and valuable help in maintaining law and order in Karachi are known to everyone.

The governor said that Mr Malik has resolved some of the national issues very amicably.

The Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, said that during his student days Rehman Malik was a very active and intelligent student.

He was a student leader and had also participated in extra-curricular activities.

Vice-Chancellor said that Rehman Malik deserved to be conferred the honorary degree of doctorate in recognition of his national services in war against terror.

Those who attended the special convocation also lauded the services of Rehman Malik.

Rahman Malik have all the merits to get a PTI ticket from Sialkot but that is only possible if PTI doesn't boycott the election this time. After March 2012 senate elections he will be kicked out of pee pee pee and Imran will gladly accept him.

This is a serious joke with the education and merit.

    @Omer Ahmed
Rehman Malik can be a very good asset for PMLn as they are very good to buy corrpts like them. Another common thing between nooni leadership and Rehman malik is business of ill gotten money in London.

As if Imran didn't accept Ijaz Khan Jazi from Pindi(convicted, then thrown out of PML-N), Ch umar ghumman from Sialkot(convicted, then thrown out of PML-Q), Mian Hamid Meraj from Lahore(convicted, PML-Q) and finally the greatest asset of PTI the 'Mian Azhar' (thrown out of PML-N & PML-Q) was gladly accepted. Atleast Rahman Malik is not a lota so maybe that's why PTI will not take him.

This is the greatest joke with nation, a PhD to Rehman Malik???
When you have thought we were all done with our quota of infamy and rewarding thieves, our stalwarts come up with yet another way of stigmatizing the land of pure......

By the same token now Changez Khan, Hitler and Stalin stand qualified for Nobel for PEACE posthumous....

Although I understood Dr. Ishratul Ibad bestowing upon Malik a PhD, it was most painful to see such an erudite professor as Pirzada Qasim in collusion with dacoits in the act....I am so disappointed, gosh!!!

"Rehman Malik was a very active and intelligent student."

    and

"Vice-Chancellor said that Rehman Malik deserved to be conferred the honorary degree of doctorate in recognition of his national services in war against terror."

I am killing myself laughing! This is the best joke I have heard all week.

Is there a PhD in ineptitude and yes-sir-ism? I would be happy to bestow to Mr Malik.

I thought Pirzada Qasim might have seen sense but obviously not.

There is a TV comedian named Ismail Tara. Once in a comedy program called 'Fifty Fifty', he played a joke. He said, " I did matriculation and then became a Phd". The interviewer asked,"How did you directly become Phd without doing HSC, Graduation and Masters?". Ismail Tara said," Phd means 'phira howa dimag'. He meant to joke that he became mentally out of track.

Abdur Rehman Malik is now an honarary Phd., whereas his boss Zardari is just a matriculate. The condition of 'graduation' was removed to make him the President of Pakistan.

This could've been a very good thread which immediately got spammed-killed by a cough *noo* cough *er* cough *multiID* cough. Hey mods? I do understand the obsession and the panic of these nooners, but do they really have the right to spam every single thread? This thread is about Rehman Malik and the honorary phd he wrongfully received. I am sure many of us have a lot to say about this.

I doubt if VC of KU has any control over this .... what can a university VC do in front of these political badmashs in pakistan?

recently MQM has joined government "again" ... aur is qisam ki degreeion kay tuhfay day kar dosti barhai ja rahi hai

how ironic.. one terrorist (ishrat) awarding "Peace" degree to another terrorist (rehman malik)....
