If you are alleged to have stolen a truck of rice. This is what happens to you in Pakistan. But if you have stolen billions of dollars and stashed them in Switzerland you are called Mohtrima and Shaheed (Benazir) and get to be President (zardari)

Are you trying to say everyone that has ever stolen a truck has been tortured? Would sure like to know your references. For your kind information, the PPP was elected by the People of Pakistan with more than 10 million votes. If you had a problem with it, vote them out. Simple.

Agar yeh truckwalay ya rice k owner k hath lag jata tu shayad is say bhi bura hal hota is ka....is ko shokar karna chahiye k police k hath laga hai kam as kam police walay jalatay tu nahi hain criminals ko....

@thread...its a complicated thing...thieves and looters shud b punished...but i think if our court of law would be powerful thn they shud be punished in a humanely way...becasue by punishing liek this we are just teasing them...and whneve they ll b free..they ll either start doin the same thing..since they wouldnt have any remorse or they would take revenge frm the society...!!

but also im nt sayin tht we shud follow silly western laws whr criminals have rights as well...criminals shud be treated like criminals..but teasing and torturing fr a mere crime in public is nt justified i guess..yes..if they are killers..thn if islamic law is blood fr blood thn..thn so be it...but whds tht if sumone has stolen a roti he ll be tortured fr tht ...!!

another concern which raises in my mind here is tht since thei chitrol is more of a law may it be punjab or sindh...polica wala make this a tool to let ppl admit the crimes whd they didnt commit..you know drawing room ki sair and stuff...so whr it can be justified with the criminals its unjustifeid with sum ppl who are just in police custody !!

Publicising a punishment is good.
BUT
Only after a fair trial.
And without abusing further only chitrol is enough..
Also Dacoity has a very severe punishment in Islam publically.

@islamabadi1...do you really think tht our voters who voted for PP or PML N are the ones tht are you and me?? 70% of population who make any party come in power belongs to rurals and are mostly suppressed, illiterate and deprived ...!! funny you really believe in our elections and naive of you at the same time..!

I condemn all such acts of police as they find it an easy way to make people confess whatever they did or not. Just think that if someone can bear some torture? Certainly not .. Police has many callous ways of torture but that is not justice. If someone has realy comitted a crime, police should have sufficient investigative capabilities to find out the truth and present it in court so that the culprits can not deny it in the court of law. But if only "chitter prade" is to be done then every "Elephant is ready to confess that he is a deer".

I think court should order the same "chitter prade" to all those policemen who were involved in this cruel act. Police has no right to torture but their duty is only to gather sufficient evidences and present in court of law. It is the court which has to award punishment or aquittal.

this is what i was talking about. this is called chittar or chitrol in urdu. whoever goes to jail or thana, they welcome them with this heinous criminal instrument. police wala jahil chitar sai marta hai aur bikao fauji istaree aur drill karta hai.

Both sides more or less follow the same 'unaltered' penal codes left behind by the colonial masters of the subcontinent. Chitrol or 'third degree' torture was one of their 'control measures'. Sady still utilized as a rule before every formal interrogation/investigation. Verbal abuse is used alongside this 'welcome' treatment.

Most punjab police officers were hired during previous Nawaz Sharif and Shabaz Sharif governments, most of them are relatives of Noon leauge members or they were hired on their approach or favor. That is why this police and other beurocracy always favor Nawaz Sharif in punjab.

If Nawaz Sharif can be involved in murder and attempt to murder of two army chiefs, attack on supreme court and other many crimes and corruptions then his appointed police officer can be wild like this. Shabaz Sharif is biggest supporter of this kind of tacts and police maqablas, nobody should surprise.

Apologies for misunderstanding! I agree with u but usually it's only karachite's who can do this. Over the years karachite's have seen so much violence that they are now fed up and their reaction is something expected. On the other hand the hatred among communities specially between pashtuns and Muhajir has not helped either. I always follow those tiny 2 / 3 liner news of people who were stabbed or shot while returning from work... Most of these people have nothing to do with any political parties and get killed by these political parties gang war!
Returning back to police....... I don't know much about Punjab police but I know very well about " how sindh / Karachi police works! I actually know more then 99% of the forum members here but that I will discuss on some other thread!
