Though all odds against for past three decades PPP has survived many many Billo dramas.
Minor defections have never been successful is uprooting PPP even massive defections like of Patriot Group have never succeeded . Though PPP has suffered set back due to high handedness but at what cost decline in PPP has given rise in extremism simple mathematics.
    The factors favoring PPP are.
Both PML-N and PTI are Lahore based (Punjabi Parties) PPP has the advantage of small province Party doing National Politics.
The Only federal party with Governments in Baluchistan Gilgit and Kashmir.
Establishment cannot even if wishes so destabilize Pakistan by hurting PPP to the limit that it destabilizes Country.
The other two Takhte-e- Lahore Parties will never unite Pakistan as already deep sentiments in small provices.

  2. PPP has survived because of Bhutto charisma. There is no Bhutto at the top any more. Zardari is not inspiring at all to ordinary workers. His shadow, coupled with dismal Govt performance, is tarnishing Bilawal too. Unless they become "Shaheeds" through another coup, I don't see good prospects for PPP going forward.

    I agree with you!

PPP has roots among general public throughout the country and is the only national party of Left with grassroots political support in all provinces. But I am an ardent opponent of political dynasties and it is going to hurt PPP if it has to succeed in the years to come. Lotaism/defections, like other parties are a disease in our political system so we have to live with it and establishment conspiracies will also continue to de-popularise and de-stabilize PPP.

By the way, your post above shows you have strong feelings for Punjab. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am following the PPP politics for last 30 years.
Though Establishment killed all Bhottos but PPP survived because it was Pakistan necessity.
After every Marshal Law PPP came to power.
BB had just 13 MNA but PPP bounced back.
I have witnessed worse days for Benazir. She was more hated then zardari her naked pictures were aired in Lahore.
I bet .. two Punjabi parties will never succeed to unite federation and establishment knows it.
Just witness even on big Karachi PTI Jalsa no big leader from Sindh, Pakhtoon Khuwa or Baluchistan.
Whole stage full with Panjabi leaders.

Just to add I belong to Punjab

Your anti-Punjab rhetoric is inappropriate and uncalled for. PPP still has massive grassroots support in Punjab and especially in South Punjab.

It is true Establishment killed all Bhuttos and despite worst time during Gen Zia regime, PPP survived and flourished. But what is the futue of PPP with highly unpopular Zardari and why can't PPP get out of Bhutto dynasty. For God sake, we need to get rid of family politics and create leaders on their ability and merit.

You are Wrong with capital W!

I am not doing any punning here. Both PML-N and PPP are victims of Establishment conspiracies and they (establishment) do not want any political party or leader to grow stronger to strenghten democracy in Pakistan. That is why we have a weaker democracy in our country. Mujeeb, Bhutto, Benazir and Nawaz Sharif all tried to grow stronger but their efforts were derailed by our dirty establishment.

As you adore Zardari, your assumptions may work.
I don't see a lot of people going along with you once the party is out of power.

    My dears.

history is in making and history has prooved all the anti PPP people wrong

Who is the party of Pakistan who is not adoring PPP leaders The Bhuttos. You are behind history..

Har ghar se Bhutto Nikle ga har dill se Bhottu nikle ga.

For thirty years we use to shout and shout
Jise Pakistan mein rehna hae use jiye Bhutto kehna hae.
We have been vindicated history proved us true.

Imran talks and talks of Bhutto leadership
Nawaz sharif goes to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to bow in front of Bhottos.
These were leaders who were thirsty of their blood wanted to sink them in sea.
It was Asif Zardari to gave the slogan of long live Pakistan on shahadat of Benazir.
Our past speaks of glorious future.

"PPP there to Stay; has to stay and will stay; Long Live PPP"

You have used the word three times in the title, I am pleased to say that you have picked up the point perfectly.

PPP stay, stay, stay is exactly the problem, a complete lack of movement on any national front. Putrid stagnation, hellish stink, no new ideas, free for all looting, nepotism and yes not paying your taxes because of poverty.

Please stay right where you are, it makes it easy for others to have a good laugh at PPP. When elections come, PPP might be left wondering, where has the love gone!

This thread, utter shite.......Try starting a thread that does not involve hearing your own voice.

Ideally, I will like PPP to stay as a credible representative of liberal and progressive forces in Pakistan, however I think it has lost its credibility. Coupled to that is the fact that with no Bhutto at helms of affairs of PPP, the inner commitment of its workers has diluted.

In order for PPP to spring back from its current sorry state, it has to do a lot of soul searching, has to align its goals with its original ideology, do something for the masses it claims to represent, engage its existing voter base and expand its voter base to those who are sitting on sidelines.

I doubt if it will be able to do that with its current leadership. Leadership that is confused, incompetent and confined within walls of overly guarded secured residences.

  16. ppp future is in hand of Zardari. Peoples whom want to save PPP, beg to Zardari, that he must resign as president as soon as possible. His corrupt past and stupid actions will destroy PPP.

I am agree, There is no more Benzir who can save PPP again and again despite Zardari damage to PPP. Balawal is not Benazir. Benazir gave her all youth life for struggle against worst dictator of Pakistan history and she proved to be a genuine leader.

Balawal have to win hearts and soul of PPP Workers. He have to give hope through his commitment and actions, that he can be future of PPP. Just to be son of Benazir and grandson of Z.A Bhutto is not enough. I fear, that Zardari's personality and reputation can have negative effect on Balawal.

  18. It is my prediction That PTI going to win next election and they will form next government, with MQM and other groups, with the help of ISI.
There is only one miracle which can stop victory of PTI. That is, seat adjustment or alliance between Noon league and PPP. I don't think it is possible anymore in current situation.

PPP has always enjoyed support of a segment of society but it has also been intensely hated by perhaps a larger segment of society. Even at the height of its popularity during 1970 elections, PPP could manage to get only 38% of the votes. PPP always had support from poorer segments of society while its staunch enemy has been the educated middle class. This is why PPP has consistently fared so badly in large cities since after 1988.

It is too early to claim what situation will PPP be in after next elections but as things are going, it seems well on its way to getting restricted to less than 25 seats.

BTW, Jamaat-i-Islami, no matter how much hated by some, is also a party which has good representation in all parts of the federation.

The office bearers and workers of PPP say, "Kaal bhi Bhutto Zinda that, aaj bhi Bhutto zinda hai, kitany Bhutto maro gay, har ghar say Bhutto niklay ga." The voters of PPP love Bhutto dynasty, they will continue to vote PPP and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
