London, UK, September 6 2008 – With today’s election of Asif Zardari as president, the people of Pakistan once again see the return of the same democratic politicians who ruined the country before the disastrous dictatorship of General Musharraf. Despite the changing faces, servitude to Western powers is the one constant in the current political setup in Pakistan. Commenting on Zardari’s election, Taji Mustafa, Media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, “At a time when people are suffering ever increasing food and fuel prices and the US military incursions and killing of Muslim’s on Pakistan’s teritory has increased – in an undeclared war – Zardari, like Musharaf before him, has pledged to be a loyal servant of the US government in its war against Islam, despite huge domestic opposition. Only last Thursday, he told the Washington Post that ‘we stand with the United States, Britain, ...., the war we our fighting is our war.’”
“Zardari’s close links with Zalmy Khalizdad who was cenral to the US colonisation of Iraq and Afghanistan may indicate the route to the US colonisation of Pakistan.”
”Despite the election of Zardari, there is little prospect of a solution to the problems that Pakistan is facing and the short term prospects for the people looks bleak despite the fact that Pakistan has the world’s 2nd largest coal reserves, 5th largest copper and gold reserves, is the 9th largest wheat producer and is the 4th largest milk producer. Pakistan’s problems are the product of decades of failed capitalist solutions, the failure of democracy and dictatorship, interference by Britain and America and the absence of a sincere competent leadership.”
“Only a new politics based on unity and Islam – the Khilafah – can address the problems facing Pakistan and the Muslim world. The Khilafah state would liberate the Muslim world from Western colonialism and pursue policies free from servitude to Washington or London, defending its frontiers and looking after people's affairs.”
