Principle of "Ducking" and Escapism

    Currently there are many conflicts like Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq and Afghanistan etc going on in this world and most of them involve Muslims. It appears that there is no solution out of it. The main reason I can think of this question that why these issues are not resolved yet is because of our inability to understand what I call the principle of "Ducking".

    I wonder why when it is completely evident to us that we are in a state of weakness, even thn we go for a fight? When you realise that you are weaker than your enemy, what is the right thing to do? To continue fight or ducking down? Why can't we duck and focus on accumulating our strenghts and thn strike back we have gathered some power. Is it because we like to call ourselves Brave and Fearless. Or is it because we are "Escapists". The lousy, timid bunch of Escapists.

    For example in Iraq or Afghanistan, when USA invaded those lands both nations put up very good fight. But within few months it was crystal clear that USA had the upper hand. Thn why couldn't the Iraqis and Afghanis simply ducked down, gave up thr fights temporarily and participated in the elections to form thr representative govt and meanwhile developing thr Military. In mere 5 years they could have established self rule (partially at least) and maintained rule of law. In other words they wud have actually created situations which could have been instrumental in deriving the foreign troops out of thr lands. They could have defeated the invaders with thr own weapons.

    IMO the people who commit suicide are escapists and "the timidiest" ppl of the world. They say that they can't confront the world. And they make easier choice...that is to kill themselves. For me to defeat some one intellectually is much more difficult than to defeat some one in battlefield. I think the ppl who are blowing themselves up as suicide bombers are escapists. They are unable in fact they can't come up with any other workable strategy to lead thr ppl out of the mess but to say that let's die and kill ppl.

    In just 10 years the amount we are spending on weapns and defense if only we spend 10% of that on Education we can easily defeat anyone in the world! But that's the difficult choice and unfortunately as for now we don't have enough brave people amongst us.

    Bro the bottom line is that all these wars essentially involve groups who basically differ in mentalities, thinking, way of interpreting things etc.

    The oppressors in most of these cases are the people who see the world and live their lives strictly in terms of rationale and logic and who have decided that what you see is what you get in the world (i.e they are only bothered about their present, so they do every thing to excel in this world without giving much thought to things like
    here after, religion etc)

    In short: They have decided that they are their own masters in this world therefore they use their minds differently in different situations without being emotional & religiously hell bent on following something which some of them consider as holy or sacred due to various reasons.

    On the other hand the way their subjects (mostly muslims in this case) see this world is entirely different, as majority of them try to live their life not at their own but according to the way mentioned in their holy scriptures therefore the room to be innovative and to use their minds differently in different situations could never become their forte in the first place ( i mean even when some of them try to be innovative they are faced with many hinderances with in their own community, so their first task is to ensure that by doing so they are not going against their religion)
    Besides, Since it has been seen over the period of time that mostly people who are very religious are also very emotional so when it comes to different war maneuvers & to deal with their enemies in a war tactfully without being particularly worried about things like honor, pride, accepting enemies superiority (even if it is for a temporal period) most often then not, the religious guys couldn't find any consensus on things like that and hence even if some of them may go slightly against their respective religions in order to hurt their enemy more in a shorter period of time i.e by doing suicide attacks etc, some how their emotional nature never allows them to do something that graphically shows them to have accepted the superiority of their oppressors in the long run!

    p.s: just look at how we have increased the number of our enemies on the international front (without ever getting worried about any things like tactics, interests etc) by including the likes of Israel in our "all time worst enemies" list when in reality their and our interests very hardly ever coincide with each other (speaking strictly in terms of two sovereign nations and not as "thekedaars of islam")and nor are we in any way near to each other geographically!

    Try to convince your people in that regard and all you would hear are two ayats or hadiths like " Jews and Christians could never be your friends " (period) and suddenly all your ideas of ducking & maneuvering will be lost in an eternal silence.

    p.s We also don't waste our time in stupid things like ducking, maneuvering, trying to educate ourselves because unlike "them" we are not afraid to die... wanna know why?.. because unlike them we know that our present life is just temporal and our real life starts after our deaths!;););)
    (HOW COULD YOU FORGET SUCH A SIMPLE THING BEFORE ASKING SUCH A HUGE QUESTION BRO ;)

    I can see where you coming from and find weight in your arguments. But I tend to slightly differ with your analysis that people who thinks this world is all (in other words agnostic ppl who don't believe in God and afterlife) are actually taking the shots. While those who believe that this life is temporarily and real life is next life (in other part ppl of faith and religion) are being left behind because of their this approach.

    I won't say you are completely wrong but do you think that it is the only reason which don't let us strategise, prioritize or "duck" when we should? Or there are other factors along with your highlighted "mindset" which have literally turned us into mere cattles.

    When I see who is ruling the world (in every field that include Science and Technologu along with Power) I find it is mostly Christians and Jews. They are not as religious as Muslims but they are much more religious than Chinese or Russians.

    Does religion or faith stop us from developing this world? Making our lives easier and convinient? If it does than howcome the ealier muslims were rational, logical and willing to adopt knowledge and wisdom from every corner of world?

    I think it is the overall escapism in our society when we don't want at all to confront our weaknesses. Because confronting them will demand effort in return from us to correct it. And that becmes a gigantic task for us to correct and improve ourselves and we decide to "escape" and make easier choices such as making a scuicide jacket and blowing oneself up!

    I would like to open this debate to other factors which are keeping us behind...Except saazishain of yakhood-o-nisara!

    Bro i would have loved to highlight some other factor but when i see ours being perhaps the only religion in the world in which still (in the 2ist century) petty things like

    -is watching t.v allowed or not?

    -is taking pictures or drawing sketches allowed or not?

    -is telecasting these pictures allowed or not?

    -whether women should be educated in the is place or not?

    -whether they should be allowed to go out alone or not?

    -and (God forbid) if some how they do start working then whether men should be allowed there or not?

    are still a point of big contention between its various sects and followers then i am afraid I have no option but to state it as one of the major factor of our demise in each and every worldly field.

    and btw its not at all about being more religious or less and hence being less developed or more

    Its just that no matter how much religious they have been they never let themselves to be obsessed about their respective religions like we have I.E There religion has been important to them but only on the secondary levels..
    there priorities have always been different since 19th century!

    I think ultimately we will also reach there some how, its just that we are turning out to be frighteningly slow learners!

    btw in case you are thinking that i am exaggerating the importance of religion in the context of the things that apparently have no relation with religion..then let me tell you that the only reason i am doing that is because according to me we are perhaps the only religious community on the face of earth for whom "ITS ALL ABOUT RELIGION IN THE END!" ..SOME HOW WE ARE ABLE TO FIND CONNECTION OF OUR RELIGION EVEN WITH THE WEIRDEST THINGS THAT WE DO!

    yes we are going through our dark ages and I can quote you some funny and some terrible examples too. For example like I have heard a respectable religious scholar saying on TV that: Some famous religious scholars have written in their books that its alright to teach women how to read but never teach them how to write!

    Once I was told that offering prayer under light bulb is Haram and funny thing is I bought it :). On much serious and frightening note these minds who forbid me to offer prayer under bulb light ...are propagating and preaching that Polio vaccination is Haram, if you disagree you are kafir and wajib-ul-qatal, we are right every one else is wrong, family planning is kufir, democracy has always been considered by most religious scholars kufir, and Ottoman empire despite having all resources didn't develop air force because they thought it too was Haram.

    But some ppl have even been more crazier than us! There was time in EU when a women who knows multiplication was considered witch and burnt alive. Ppl of west till 20th century were plagued with Racism, slavery, women oppression, and many other ills.

    While we as muslims have very strong foundations and basic principles of morality. In our early days we didn't had problem with Reason and faith. Racism Alhamdulilah has never been a serious threat to us, we at least accept that women are humans too and they can inherit wealth and own their personal businesses. Then we were better ppl. Contributing to the welfare and well being of humanity.

    Now unfortunately we are merely trouble makers! But things are not as worst as they were in 60 years ago in EU. And Alhamdulilah we are not hopeless like most unfortunate african nations. We just need to invoke the brains and intellect that is present thr! And I humbly attempt to invoke my own and others brain.
