PTCL again doubles its broadband data speeds at no extra cost

PTCL seems to be doing a pretty good job. Even the thought of those dial-up days now bring tears to me eyes! Ah, pass the tissue, please...

Anyway, nothing else seems to be getting cheaper except off course the blood of the Muslims...

My ptcl connection telephone line is dead since the day they made this announcement(i use multiple dsl connections).Calling up their helpline is a nightmare. They simply won't pick up.

As long as it keeps on working then its good(speed is good) but the day it starts giving you problem then you would really see the dark side of PTCL.

  3. @ doctor,

Well, I had no problem with phone line, but with the Internet, and whenever I called the helpline, they just won't pick up the phone, so I sent a couple of threatening emails :P, and they themselves called me, and fixed the problem.

To get the phone fixed contact the line man of your area, don't waste time on their "helpline"....

"Let us know about threat you made"

Obviously, that I will switch to other ISP's, if the problem is not fixed ASAP, I was thinking of warning them of a suicide attack on their HQs but then I settled for the first threat.

And in the email, remember to write the phone number on which you've got the DSL, and also mention your cell number, so they can contact you.

  7. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    I hate to burst your 'happiness' bubble, but what your saying here is not true. PTCL has increased tariffs. Plus they'v diversified their package list. When you look at the old tariff list;

    (1) 8 Mbps bandwidth is costlier than 4 Mbps
    (2) 6 Mbps is not double of 4 Mbps

    (3) Uplink is worse off on PTCL, as always

    - You'd think they'd allow you to use uplink on your connection as per your whims, after you'v paid them what they asked for ? Yet that's not the truth. They cap/limit it

    - Plus, they cap/limit speed for streaming videos, downloads, etc etc

I'v been using PTCL DSL service, since it came out. On more than one occasion I'v noticed videos streaming at 4 Mbps, go under 1 Mbps in a few seconds. Same case for downloads.

    - They cache websites, which makes it impossible to browse some, because 1 proxy server's IP is being used on the website a multiple thousand times over

You have to knock them on their heads, and even that takes many days for them to work up your grievance.

    - Their connection is worthless for playing online games, for more than one reason

    (a) their uplink is worthless
    (b) their dns servers can't stay up or accessible
    (c) at random times of the day, connection fails
    (d) at random times of the day, dsl modem goes out of sync
    (e) just a hint of stormy weather and your dsl modem will go out of sync, and keep repeating it after random intervals

But yes, the present is much better than the dialup era/experience.

  8. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@UmeR: In my case, as well as with the masses, I believe, I as well as the masses have to stand on top of PTCL staff to 'get things done'.

    Know what I mean ?

You'd think they'd install services as soon as possible, so they could increase their company's revenue ? They'll do the totally opposite thing. They'll take their time. More than once they'll forget to install new connections, services, provide support, etc etc. You have to literally knock on their heads to get things done.

This is typical Pakistani mentality. No matter which company you go to, you'll see Pakistani people operating in this fashion.

..and they are so 'bayghairat' or 'bayhis' (in urdu) about it, that you'd notice it over and over again.

Do we have internet facility in Pakistan from cable providers?
I am planning to go Pakistan next winter with 2 week of Paid
vacation time and 1 week working from home status....
without cable base internet services and electricity 3 weeks of vacation is not possible ...

wt you guys think keep my visit only for 2 weeks and keep my job or just try to take safe risk?

  10. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Worldcall is a cable internet service provider. Add one more ISP to the list of those who provide one of the worst customer support.

Why wouldn't customer support be worse ? People of Pakistan want to live their lives as 'willing slaves', rather than those who have 'freedom', which includes those living in cities.

Why should any product seller, service provider, Govt., public or private organization 'serve' them ?

  11. @ Hk

Man, you are all gloom and doom. Even if some of the packages were not doubled, they still were upgraded, so just chill :)

Anyway, I actually got it wrong, it's only the 2mb package that was doubled to 4mb, (and that's what I was using, so you've failed to bust my happiness bubble), and others were just upgraded except that 1mb package.

"On more than one occasion I'v noticed videos streaming at 4 Mbps, go under 1 Mbps in a few seconds. Same case for downloads."

Man, no matter which ISP you use, you'll not be able to stream videos with the full potential of your downstream, and the same goes for the downloads, (except if you use download managers with multiple connections).

PS: You're right their customer service SUCKS, no doubt about that...

  13. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@UmeR: Common!. I'm not a gloom and doomer. I say that which is the truth. I just present the reality, as .. it .. is.

Ye ISP walo'n ki 'dada-giri' hai. Wo jaan ke aisa karte hain. This is an 'attitude problem' in people of Pakistan, be them businessmen/traders, operators, administrators, etc etc.

Any person who has power in Pakistan, he tried to 'abuse' that power. No matter who it is. The solution to this problem is 'fear of ALLAH ALMIGHTY', 'fear of the day of judgment'.

I was able to get this 'limit on streaming video + downloads' removed on a business connection from one ISP.

Ye loag paise poore lete hain, aur cheez kam dete hain. Ye in ki aadat ban chuki hai. Ye cheez in ke apne control main hai. Ye jaan! ke 'dada-giri' karte hain. Ye 'dada-giri' is liye karte hain ke loag in ko 'dada-giri' karne dete hain. Loag kehte hain, aur! 'dada-giri' karo. :|

This is one trait of Muslim businessmen today. They will take full money for the product, but the product they'll hand you will be of less worth.

In western nations, they don't do this nonsense in 'business' or 'trade'.

Our people have abandoned/sidelined Islam's teachings, where-as people in western nations/countries have adapted to them, be it knowingly or unknowingly.

Isn't it an irony ? We Muslims have sidelined/abandoned Islam, Islam's teachings ? That is why are worse off today. That is why we have become slaves. This was one of the warnings of Hazrat Umar (RA, RAA) to Muslim traders.

  14. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@gunnerz30: Are you 'afraid' ? of another human being, their power ? Are you showing us your pathetic 'fear' ?

This 'slave mentality' is detestable!. If public sentiment wasn't so willing to accept slavery, I would use harsher words for you.

If you are in Pakistan, realize the fact that you! .. have! .. freedom!.

Learn! the importance, the incredible power of 'freedom'.
