LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader and executive committee member Adnan Kayani on Tuesday joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in a meeting with Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind.
Sources said that Kayani was not happy over the inclusion of politicians from other parties in PTI. After developing a series of differences with the party policy, he decided to leave the party along with his group.
According to the sources, Kayani held several meetings with a PML-N leader from Islamabad before joining the party. Sources said that though Kayani joined the PML-N unconditionally, there was a chance that he would be considered while awarding the party ticket from NA-48. But, according to sources, the situation within the PTI is worsening as the senior members and workers are getting fed up with the inclusion of more ‘thrown out’ politicians. They are dismayed over the decision of the party leadership for allowing corrupt politicians to join the PTI.
It was evident from one incident in Nowshera where the office-bearers of the PTI in all the union councils of Nowshera district, including its women wing, spoke their heart out. They opposed the likely entry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation Minister Pervez Khattak into the party.
PTI district organiser of women workers, Seema Aurangzeb said that they would question the decision made by the party leadership in drawing rooms.
She said that it was a conspiracy that the politicians having poor credentials were given chance in the PTI as they were opting for the party due to its popularity among the masses.
They said that the party workers from NA-5 and NA-6 led by Seema Aurangzeb would hold a protest outside the PTI office in Islamabad against the induction of Pervez Khattak in the party.
Meanwhile, PTI Deputy President in Nowshera Sajid Gumaryani resigned from his office to protest the decision of the PTI leadership regarding induction of Pervez Khattak into the party.
After the joining of Mian Azhar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, many of the PTI founding members and supporters said that the party was leaving behind the spirit of change.
According to sources, many old players, including Khawajas of Taunsa, Legharis of Dera Ghazi Khan, former Punjab Assembly speaker Afzal Sahi, ex-Sheikupura nazim Mian Jalil Sharqpuri, a group of Jehangir Tareen camp and few from the PML-Q (Likeminded Group), Malik Niaz Jhakkar, Shaukat Lalika and former PML-Q MNA Marvi Memon were weighing their options for joining the PTI, which can further aggravate the situation.
