    @Salam

    then tell me otherwise because as I see it their are groups like Lashker-e-jhangvi whos sole purpose is targeting Shia, Taliban were as bitter enemies of Ahl-e-sunna, even Shia also had reactionary Lashker-e-Muhammad as well and if you look at those groups they were all religous motivated and yes their are difference of opinion in MQM workers but it doesnt effect MQM as it is moving on secular agenda so this dont effect them....

    Here in Karachi Punjabis mixed with Urdu speaking very well because of one thing that is Urdu as most Punjabis in Karachi speaks fluent Urdu and in MQM dominated area like central district Karachi you cant even differentiate Urdu speaking and Punjabi speaking and the only reason for that is because both are fluent in Urdu and are middle class as well...Even urbanized Sindhi mostly speak Urdu....

  2. Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Lashker-e-Muhammad were armed militant outfits of Shia and Sunni sects who have done much harm to Islam and no good at all. No new similar armed wings should be allowed at any cost and their respective clergy be sternly warned.

    Urdu language certainly acts like a bridge among all Pakistanis from FATA, Baluchistan, Sindh, Punjab and Kashmir alike.

    then tell me what are they are they ethnicity, nationalities or what are they????Lashkar-e-jhangvi claim to kill Shia while Lasker-e-Muhammadi claim killing Sunni they both are hardliners of their sects and as I see them both are sectarian motivated violent groups having sole purpose of killing other sect.

    @All...Nice to see ... a good post redirected to something unrelated... as normal.
    what Laskher-e-jhangvi has to do with urdu? ( :

    =========================================================

    What was the National Language of U S S R or Yugoslavia?
    did National Languages help them intact for 90 + years? and what happened after artificial unity?

    Urdu is essential but this is not the ONLY factor to bring unity among people of Pakistan..... if people of NWFP like to add Pashtoo as National language let them add it.

    Urdu is the linguafrancia of Pakistan.

    what will a Sindhi speaker speak to a Pushto Speaker to communicate? Urdu

    therefore, Urdu is serving as a uniter.

    I can only sense its importance when I see sign boards in Urdu in Makkah and Madinah when i go for umrah. Urdu today is representing culimination of Islam in heart of subcontinent throughout the ages.

    Now coming back to this thread:There are 70 different languages, Apart from urdu, Many other languages are spoken in Pakistan, including Punjabi, Siraiki, Sindhi, Pashtu, Balochi, Hindko, Brahui, Burushaski, Balti, Khawar, Gujrati and other languages with smaller numbers of speakers.

    http://www.muturzikin.com/cartesasie/4.htm
    (more like dialects then languages, in pakistan)

    In Pakistan

    44.15% of the people speaks Punjabi,
    15.42% speaks Pashto,
    14.10% speaks Sindhi
    10.53% speaks Siraiki
    7.57 % speaks urdu
    3.57% speaks Baluchi
    4.66% speaks other languages.

    http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/005262.html

    Just by looking at the above statistics, (excluding the facts that Pushtuns are divided by fake and obsolete durand line which has divided the Pashto language or else it's the biggest language spoken across the two countries: but I won't raise this point as we are 2 different countries, Thanks to English Masters and their Slaves in then India) its evident that urdu is the 4th biggest language spoken in Pakistan. This language was chosen as it was the only language which could have been used as the Language-Gel among all of pakistanis.

    Despite the failure of our readers to differentiate between "racist" remarks and freedom of speech, I still think that urdu should remain the national language of Pakistan and the other language should also be encouraged and in media they should get equal time.

    For people who want to know the racist remarks should hear Altaf Hussian's initial speeches, where he spit his venom against Punjabi's and Pushtuns.. That I consider racist remarks just like any one who use ethnicity as the excuse for eliminating their rivals.

    Bilour remarks is a mere view of a nationalist who does see the misery of other ethnic groups of pakistan like Pushtuns, baluchs and Punjabis. Unfortunately the 7.57 % speakers get to say anything but if it comes from some other group, they are called racists.. What a joke! Just like the existence of MQM.
