N-League should learn from Pervaiz Ilahee.
This is what an opposition leader is supposed to do. He is talking about real issues with facts and figures. His whole criticism is over development projects, mismanagement and bad governance. He is taking up real issue and presenting implementable solution.

I am impressed by him.

Now dont come up with BS that he supported Musharraf and what not. Talk about real issues. I commend Pervaiz Ilahee for being a real opposition leader. I wish N-LEague learn from him and do a similar kind of criticism on federal government rather than 17th ammendment khatam karoo, but Lahore Badshah pay bhaatee gate kay siri payee kaa nasha charhaa hoaa hai, inn ko kuch samajh nahi aaey gee.

You gotta be kidding me. You think these maafi nama people had anything to do with Musharraf's departure??

Anyways, start another thread over that topic if you want. This thread only compares the performance of two opposition parties; Q-League and N-League and as expected N-League has miserably failed due to the reasons I presented in my original post. If anyone disagrees, please bring forward argument that is relevant to the topic. To make it clear, Q-League's Musharraf support is irrelevant as far as this thread is concerned, so if you want to discuss that feel free to start another thread.

PMLN's role as opposition needs much to be desired.I am not totally convinced by their argument of not derailing the democratic process.
But Pervez Ilahi has no credibility at all.It is like Bush or Cheney criticizing China on torture or human rights.

Dont you think his interview demonstrates a healthy and a true role of an opposition leader? He is giving facts and figures on development projects and governance to prove his point. He is talking about policy alternatives and issues that matter, such as

*development budget for Southern Punjab
*Health and education policy of Khadim-e-aala (or lack thereof)
*Length of roads buit
*Development fund utilization

On the other hand, N-Leaguers talk about

*Musharraf kaa trial
*Salman Taseer kee family pictures
*Zardari kay ghair mulki doray
*Prime Minister aur President mein differences

you tell me, who is real opposition????

Compare Pervez Ilahi's and Chodhry Nisar's interviews with any other opposition leader interview in western democracies and you will realize who knows what opposition means.

Pervez Ilahi's interview remind of presidential debate between McCain and Obama.

Credibility is the main issue here.Pervez Ilahi has lost his credibility by opposing democratic forces.His critcism carries no weight.
If i am a non practicing Muslim it does not give me any right to preach others to pray five times a day or keep fast.

If he supported dictator then so did Mian Sahiban. Will you now say Mian sahibaan dont have any credibility either??

Its not about that. On one side people say government is distracting awam from real issues and when someone brings up real issues then we go around questioning his credibility. Does'nt sound fair to me.

Did he not point out valid issues?
The issues he brought up, were they not awami?
Did he not back his argument up by facts and figures?
Did he not provide alternative policies?

On the other hand, when was the last time you saw N-Leaguers doing that???

Current Federal Government is formed through coalition.Pervez Ilahi is talking about a period during dictatorship.It is not fair to campare the two.
Democracy is a slow process it needs time to take its hold.We should be patient.
I do agree with him on the issue of local government.It was a bad decision to abolish them.I am not sure whose decision was it.

@zia m, there is no difference in provincial governments during Pervez Ilhai's time and current times. Pervez Ilahi was not a martial law administrator neither would Musharraf get involved in provincial development projects. Pervez Ilahi did not have 2/3rd majority.

Current Punjab government is not facing any problems in assembly. Infact, current N-League punjab government does'nt even care about assemblies as Pervez Ilahi pointed out, current government only bothered to present 3 bills in 2 years whereas Pervez Ilahi's government not only presented but passed 37 bills. So that is not a problem.

Also, N-League accused president of tempering with BB's will. If they can make such ghatya accusations, what is stopping them from asking government about its energy policy?

Why are we all so obsessed with Musharraf. We all know Chaudhry brothers dont want Musharraf anymore specially after jiss tarah Musharraf ne inn donoo ko last election mein choona lagaya.

Chaudhry Brothers will continue to win elections and I see a lot of potential in Pervez Ilahi. I also consider Chaudhry Shujaat as the most truthful political leader. He does not lie and he is not a hypocrate like N-Leaguers.

bsobaid .. i agree with you that Parvez Elahi has raised the points in logical manner. This was his part to question and i am waiting that if someone from PML-N can answer the points. This is certainly pathetic that our government is providing "cheap flour" in the long lines but it is the prime right of every one to get the same subsidy. We have seen that many people even lost their lives for something they thought to continue their lives.

I am a strong opponent of Q league being party. They have cheated upon the nation for 9 years. This Parvez Elahi said they will make Musharraf elected 10 times in uniform and now they say that he should live abroad. These people are real curses of our politics. We have not forgotten Pasban Cooperative (mr. obaid plz check ur words Ch. Shujat aik sacha admi), Double Shah, Waiver of bank loans, and there can be a long list against these culprits. Hence, Mr. bsobaid i hope you will stick to only logical points and not to try to make us fool and laugh that Q league is party of good people.

By the way I was thinking one day that the people with name Parvez (those whom i know) have always worked against Islamic and later Pakistani ideology. The first person in history we see is Parvez (king of Iran) who tore off the message of Prophet Mohammad (SAW). Then I see Parvez (Fitna Inkar-e-Hadith). Next I see Parvez Musharraf, who sold Pakistan for dollars. Please also not forget Parvez Hoodbhoy, US agent against Pakistan's nuclear assets. You have good reasons to add Parvez Elahi in the list. And surprising and astonishing that COAS also includes Parvez....

betterpk .. thanks for your reply .. but my dear i am unable to understand that this thread was about Parvez Elahi and we have right to point out his mistakes and that is what I did.. Did i try to defend Sharif Bros? Certainly NOT... because I also criticize them for their acts... I don't know why you have written such a long detail addressing to me :) ... I am not Siddiq-ul-farooq to answer your allegations on Sharif brothers... If you wanted to do some thing you could have tried to clarify about Parvez Elahi ...

Actually chaudhary sb sold a piece of land(6000 kanal) at Rs600,000/kanal and the price of land was just RS 70/kanal.
So this was starting point for chaudahary Bradran.
In Pakistan first million is the problem after that you should know just how to go up..

opposition in our country is just playing a role of a player ,who is sitting in the pavilion while wearing his knee pads and just waiting for his turn ...
they are least interested in playing a part of a real opposition .
coz they are not sincere with the nation.
they rather think to focus on making good terms with US and Pak Army for any further set up in the future...
while wasting their time on opposing Govt .

Q-League is the real opposition. THeir opposition is based on real issues. Rental power projects, governance in Punjab are the two real issues where they have done a good job.

bhai sb, you are asking to ignore all political analysis/experience and only see what they are saying today?

If we see things in isolation, then we might not get full picture.

They are waiting like vulchers for Gen Kayani to overthrow PPP govt and then it will be same old same pml-q.

May be that is true but what does rental power project and bad governance in Punjab has anything to do with it???

If they are opposing government on non-issues then we have all the right to not listen to them but if there criticism is based on facts and figures and it is on real issues then there is no reason to doubt their intentions.
