Resign Omer says BJP

(10 posts)
  1. While trying to dispel the impression that the Central govt was actually running the affairs of the state , Omer said '' We are not puppets''

    “Kashmir is an issue between two neighbours. It is not an issue about development, employment or ration. Even if we provide all these things to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the issue will remain,” he said.

    “New Delhi has accepted Kashmir as an issue. Had that not been the case, why did the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, go to Lahore? Why was Kashmir discussed in Agra and Delhi?”

    In the Shimla agreement, both countries had agreed to talk about “all outstanding issues, including Kashmir.”

    But it was particularly the following remarks that enrgaged BJP who are demanding a resignation from the Chief Minister for 'speaking the language of the separatists' :

    "J&K had not merged with the Union but acceded to it under an agreement. The Kashmir issue cannot be resolved by addressing development alone. It is a political issue and needs a political solution." He had asked leaders to desist from harping on "Kashmir is an integral part of India".

  3. Well it seems like Indian ATTEMPT to keep CWG running smoothly as this guy Umer said few days ago himself that Kashmir is integral Part of India why Retracting from his own Statement in all of a Sudden????Its just in order to win some goodwill of the people towards Govt. for some time to keep them from Protesting in the streets of Kashmir so that they couldnt able to get Humiliated as CWG is on and Protest in Kashmir will show very NASTY picture of India around the World.....Now I am waiting for Kashmir's response in this issue lets see how they take this statement.....

  6. Winning elections could be due to many reasons, rigging as an example but by looking at the numbers out on the streets one can judge the flow of the tide. Not in Omar's favour.

  7. One big reason is that JKLF, APHC and other Pro Pakistan and Pro Freedom dont Participate in Elections and Kept the SLOT empty for Pro India Govt. to win.....If they ever realize that they have the Same Potential to Change Kashmir's Picture just like Muharaja of Kashmir who associate Kashmir with India if they come up with success in the Elections and then announce by VOTING in ASSEMBLY that Kashmir wont remain Part of India then all of a sudden everything would Change.....BTW I dont think that they can LOSE elections held in Kashmir Valley that easily cause number of people which they can Mobilize in their support I dont think pro India Politician can even take things even with Rigging as well.....

  8. This time a much younger generation is up. All they have seen is hardship and terror by the Indian forces and that makes the Indians shiver because pro Indian Kashmiri's are losing favour.

    @gazi23 & semirza

    There is big difference between jihadi and electoral politics. Syed Ali Gillani, Yasin Malik etc can barely win their own seats at best. They don't have infrastructure to run state wide elections. I am from Kashmir and I have seen how JI and other nationalists perform in elections. The big electoral names in Indian controlled Kashmir Omer Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad are all pro-India. The big names on our side Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, Sardar Atiq, Br. Sultan etc are all pro-Pakistan. I am not sure if that's there ideology or political interest. When huriyat will jump in electoral politics they will realize what kind of compromises one has to make. They won't be as popular as you may think. I won't be surprised if there overall share comes out under 10% with complete washout in rural constituencies.

    Please also take into account this unrest in Kashmir is also controlled by our security establishment.
