A journalist said “we do not see common man’s role in political movements” he said that civil society represents a few specific groups of people and a common man does not play his due role in political/ social movements. Is the observation correct? If yes, what reason can be behind this? Lack of awareness, low ratio of education, hopelessness, a lot betray by the politicians, or problems of day-to day life? Plz share ur views.

    Thanks

  3. i tend to slightly disagree with Mr whatever (who has said that)
i think ...common man was not that active but was involved in it .
coz no campaign cud get that kind of results without the help of common ppl.
if lawyers movement is a success ...its the ppl of Pakistan ,who had made it successful.
they have supported thier cause in Feb18 Elections.
it was a common man ,who went at the polling station and cast his vote against Mush.
it was a common man, who was chanting on the raods with lawyers and journalists.
it was a common man ,who was watching thier shows regularly as viewers ....
out of that basis they r earning ads and revenues ......
it was a common man ,who has made these journalists a hero ...

so Mr journalist shud know the power of a common man in Pakistan....
he shudnt under estimate it ........

  4. The reason is that things like democracy and constituition and judges and genarals and civilians are the concern of the educated middle classes and the upper classes. Thats what the lawyers and the journalists and the civil society etc are. The poor or the common man has to worry about how he is going to put the next meal on the table and how he will be meet day to day expenditures in these times of high inflation. They have to worry about how they will send their kids to school or even pay for their medicines if their children fall ill. These common men could not afford surgery if their wives or mothers or their sons or daughters developed cancer. These comman men have to worry about how they will pay house bills, thats if they have a house. They have to worry about how they will afford a few rotis for the household if they do not get any mazdoori/work tomorrow.

Like someone once said, Its the economy stupid.

  5. i disgree with u Secular ....
we do have a sense of responsibility as a nation.
we have a sense of rejecting and selecting ppl .
when Zia gone....ppl choosen BB ...when BB was thrown out ..ppl selected Nawaz coz BB was corrupt...when Nawaz was thrown up ..they again selected BB to give her a second chance ...but in her second tenure ..she was doing corruption like anything...so they agian rejected her and gave Nawaz a 2/3 rd majority for the first time in the history of Pakistan....
all local and international survey reports shows that ppl started disliking PPP after BB striked a deal with MUsh ...
it shows in Feb 18 elections that ppl doesnt have sympathise with BB anymore as they have selected Nawaz in the area where BB was killed ....
Nawaz is getting popular day by day ,according to these polls ...
just coz of his firm stand against Mush and his promise to restore judiciary.

this brief history of election results and surveys shows that Pakistanis are concerned about thier country and its well being ..
    yes they r poor ..they r sick...they r illitrate
but they r not ignorant ...
they all are well aware of thier duties towards the country .
they go out and vote for thier leader ,about whom they think is better for the country.
