A sad day for Pakistani cricket. The most cherished record of Saeed Anwar is no more. Sad indeed! Tendulkar must pay for this desecration.

GWALIOR: India's Sachin Tendulkar became the world's first batsman to smash a double-century in one-day internationals, achieving the feat against South Africa on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old was unbeaten on 200 in the last over.

Zimbabwean Charles Coventry (194 not out) and Pakistan's Saeed Anwar (194) were previously the joint-record holders for the highest individual score in one-dayers.

well... well.... it is to check play ground's size also, as it looks that ground is quite shorter than standard, as it looked quite easy to touch the boundries?
If the size of the ground is not of international then record should not be accepted.

  5. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Some say, Saeed Answar made his 194 in lesser deliveries, than Tendulkar.

None-the-less, it seems as if the record is toppled.

If i remember correclty , Saeed Anwar bhi IK kaay hathey chaarah giya thaa bechara. He was given a chance against WI and had a golden debuet and was dumped by great khan. So , his career really started after IK's retirement.

Sachin is no doubt a great batsman and that is largley due to the stability in Indian cricket. They are the top team in Test beacuse unlike Pakistan they don't bash and pull eachother's legs and allow space for the player to grow....

They play Sehwag on flat tracks and made a Test player out of him....and Pakistan is always running around looking for fresh talent...moreover, they play at home and make sure they score tons on flat tracks and don't let the home advantage pass them by....

  11. as far as i remember well i maybe wrong that he left it for some personal reasons...he started practising religion seriously then his baby girl's death changed his life completely...got busy in taking and giving religius classes etc etc...its not fair to blame Imran khan for every wrong in the world...i think its good to act muture sometimes!

U r speaking of his career towards end. I m speaking of the start.

    http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63541.html

This was scorecard of his debeut test.

    http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/42605.html?class=1;template=results;type=allround;view=match

And this is his total test list. U see first test he played in 1990 and next in 1994.

If this is true then it seems like IK had issues with every good batsmen Pakistan has ever produced....

@puttar...rhyme is a madam..nt a sir...didnt realize tht myself ..so i dnt want you to do the same mistake..! :-)

@jagga..i wish yusuf sahab takes the path of religion seriously and leave the team respectfully rather then creating groups in the team which i seriously dnt think is the spirit of islam.!... i respect saeed anwar fr tht and he was and still is my hero and the best ever batsmen i have seen....

during his early carrier Saeed Anwar was like Shahid Afridi... IK dumped him after couple of test and ODIs...
i think that was right thing to do....
    ==================================================

cricket is game of record, no doubt sachin is good player but how many matches he single won for INdia?
any good cricket follower will tell you our Javid miandad have won more matches for Pakistan then SRT did for india.
for 20 yrs Sachine played for record and he deserve it.... Good thing our guys don t go after record... when they play good it always for team.
Remember 300 from Youns Khan... he didnt even make effort to break Inzi's record.

  19. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Saeed Anwar's record held up for 12 years. Let's see if someone can do better.

  21. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Well, you can't compare T20 with one day, in my humble opinion (imho). They are both a totally different ball-game.
