Salman Taseer’s son Shahbaz kidnapped

    LAHORE: Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer, was kidnapped from Lahore’s Gulberg area, DawnNews reported.

    He was abducted on gunpoint by four kidnappers, police said.

    Shahbaz’s father, Salman Taseer, one of the country’s strongest voices against religious extremism, was shot dead by a member of his own security detail outside an Islamabad cafe on January 4, 2011.

    LAHORE: Shahbaz Taseer, son of late Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer, was abducted from the Gulberg area of Lahore on Friday.

    Express 24/7 correspondent Muhammad Rizwan reports Shahbaz Taseer was abducted from a street adjacent to MM Alam Road, where his office First Capital Securities is located.

    More than three men in a black Land Cruiser intercepted Taseer’s Mercedes and abducted him. His iPad, three mobile phones and a weapon were thrown out of the car near Hussain Chowk.

    Express 24/7 correspondent Rabia Mehmood said police officials were not revealing much at the moment, but had said that they were cordoning off the Gulberg area to launch a search operation.

    Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and has issued directives to Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab to take immediate action.

    There have been rumors of heated arguments between him and his brother on division of assets. If there is any truth to these rumors, the police should investigate on this angle as well.

    operation to chota lafz hay bhai...ab operation ka time nikal chuka hay....major surgery is needed whn you are on ventilator.....!

    Allah rahem karay hum sub par...or is mulk par...or is mulk k logon par...shayad ramzan mein hum main say kisi ki dua qubool ho jaye....

    Poor family has already suffered so much. Hopefully this is kidnapping for ransom and not for religious reasons.

    This is bigger than Punjab Govt. Rana Sanaullah is on record saying that ISI is handling this case. Jinnah editor, Khushnood, has written today that this kidnapping is meant to get some TTP people released from jails!

    I think Rana Sana gave fatwa against Babar Awan, not Salman taseer and that police guy belonged to some religious cult, not PMLN.

    I think Imran Khan's "bay par ki bharkain" are getting to PTI regular cadres!

    Dhamkee. I know muslim leegi don't hasitate to give fatwas against opponents but I just want to remind them that Islam and muslim leeg ( lutera league) are two different things :)

    Only Shabaz Sharif can tell you about Shabaz Taseer. Government of Punjab let kidnappers go away from Lahore, even they were informed this kidnapping within 20 minutes.
    This kidnapping and Suleman taseer killing has political backing.
